Should probably wait until Spring Pearl gets here but fuck it we ball. Here's my full AG doll collection. Sorry in advance for writing the GOT wall in text form 💀
Top Row, Left to right: Carly (JLY 111), Lola (JLY 87), Samantha Parkington, Elizabeth Cole.
Bottom Row, Left to right: Mini Lia Clark (sitting on the dog), Rosetta (TM 39), Mini Caroline Abbott (being held by Rosetta), Alicent (TM 73), Mini Marie-Grace Gardner (being held by Alicent), Mini Addy Walker (being held by full scale Addy), Addy Walker, Jay (TM 74).
Below are some fun facts about my dolls for anyone interested 👇👇👇
- Rosetta is my oldest doll. I got her when I was around 10 years old for Christmas. She's the only full scale doll I got in the 2010s.
- All the minis (besides Addy) are from my childhood. My mom got them for me while at the AG place in the Mall of America.
- Alicent is my favorite doll to take out places. She's so versatile and can rock any of my doll clothes. Plus I like the fact she's bald and her hair can't get tangled.
- I got Addy and her mini for my 21st birthday this year. She was my first (and also my favorite!) historical doll and I got her at the AG place in Chicago. I scavenged Half-Priced Books for her full book series and to this day her series is the only one I've read in full.
- Not so fun fact but Jay is actually stained on his arms. I put him in a hoodie I got from Michael's back in the day and the black dyed stained his wrists and upper arms :(
- Carly is named after Carly Shae from ICarly, Lola is named the song Copacabana, and Jay is named after Jay Gatsby from The Great Gatsby. I always imagined the three of them being friends since I got all of them around the same time.
- Samantha and Elizabeth were both restoration projects. I got Sam for cheap off mercari and I found Elizabeth in an antique mall near me. I originally went there for the Emily doll I saw a while back, but she'd already sold and Elizabeth stood in her place.
- Jay is the only guy doll I have in my AG collection and I don't plan on getting another. I have no qualms about boy dolls (in fact I love collecting them) it's just that their clothes are just so scarce to find in the wild. And the clothes I did find for him stained him :/
I finally picked up Spring Pearl yesterday from my aunt. I was out of town during her delivery so she had to hold it back for me.
She's very gorgeous! I love her face sculpt. I've said it in a previous post, but she reminds me of a tonner doll. Her lil purse is removable. I'm unsure if I'll be able to remove her earrings though. Unfortunately they've started turning her ears green like a vintage barbie. I'm assuming this is a common issue.
This is my first "non-american girl" american girl doll (if that makes sense). I'm not really interested in Hopscotch Hill or the mini ag rooms, but the Girls of Many Lands dolls are very nice.
I've been wanting to get my paws on one of the Girl of Many Lands dolls for a while now. Unfortunately I passed up the two I saw NIB at my local antique mall, but I did snag an OOB Spring Pearl for around 20 dollars on mercari! I'm hoping she'll arrive before my Minneapolis trip so I can take her with and photograph her.
She doesn't come with her book so I'm just gonna hit up the internet archive and give it a quick read. I've heard they're pretty controversial. Some people love em, some hate em. Ig we'll see what I think.
The dolls themselves remind me a lot of tonner dolls. I wonder if it's the same sculptor?
My mom found a Montgomery Ward catalog from winter 1930 at an estate sale, and look what I found in the girl’s clothing section. It’s Ruthie’s holiday dress!
Lizzie and I went to the Illinois state museum in Springfield! They had a special exhibit on 100 years of route 66 that I thought was really fun to go through. We put our hometown up on the map too (despite the fact you can barely see it).
went to williamsburg today and spotted some felicity easter eggs!
+ some dresses that i thought resembled felicity's holiday gown and elizabeth's summer gown (bonus points for the blue dress having a doll with a matching dress)
I've been lucky enough to get some paid work that I can't share yet so I haven't posted art in a while but I had to do something for the American Girl 40th anniversary. I have been reading these books since I was six years old and these girls have a huge place in my heart. All 20 historic girls in one place!
