Mighty Nein animated is almost here!!! I didn't feel like colouring this drawing before, but it felt right to finally do that for this occasion. Also I don't think a lot of people noticed that their heads form a nine before, so I made it really obvious this time lol

One thing I really enjoy about the sneak peak is the changing time of day. Gives us a sense too of what order the Crownsguard spoke to the Nein, and one that I think makes a lot of sense: Molly (works at the carnival, makes the most sense to talk to first), Caleb (surely comes off as most suspicious to the guards for a variety of reasons), Fjord (most cooperative and helpful), Beau (difficult and refusing to talk), Jester (sober but not taking this seriously), and finally Nott (belligerent, drunk, horny, least easy to talk to).

So we're joking how Thjazi was the hottest, funniest person at his execution but it was actually so so important that we see his personality in that very short amount of time we had with him. Because if he was even an ounce less charming or interesting, putting as much emotion and importance on his person - on his death - could feel... lackluster. But the way Brennan acted him? YEAH, I believe that random npc saying he charmed a noble woman! Yeah I understand how everyone around him is devastated! Checks out!

The thing about Pacific Rim is that it's an allegorical fairytale.

The Jaegers are an allegory for the things we can't do alone without burning ourselves out. Yeah, it's possible to pilot a Jaeger solo for awhile. But nobody can last the whole fight. If you try, you will collapse under the strain sooner or later. You will die.

The drift is about the necessity of making yourself vulnerable to someone, letting another person in, so you can lift this otherwise impossible burden together. Because if we isolate ourselves, if we don't face the mortifying ordeal of being known, we will change nothing, and we will die alone.
