olaf accidentally burning a little bit of that curtain at the opera:.....wow i sure hope this doesn't awaken anything morally questionable in me.
New [tumblr] users: there is something very important for you to know.
There is a secret callsign for [tumblr] users.
If you spot a wild [tumblr] human in the wild, you must tell them this phrase:
"I like your shoelaces."
The appropriate reverse-call, if you hear this phrase, goes thusly:
"Thanks! I stole them from the president."
I'm paying literal actual money for you to see this, so don't let it be in vain. Use this phrase everywhere.

I enjoy how absolutely done Justice Strauss is with Olaf's theatrics. Like, yeah she was pretty much useless but Joan Cusack was amazing.
The Sass
BONUS
Look how he bows with that precious little grin. Ever the performer. Like, yeah, he did bad shit, no one is denying that. But the boy has theater and music and performing rooted in his very soul. And the whole bit about him being a bad actor... well, let's just remember that the books are written from Lemony's POV. And Lemony has no love for Olaf. He hates him for what he believe he did to Beatrice. So Lemon Lime is not the most reliable of narrators.
I'll never get over this...
Two retracted marriage proposals...
Netflix... y'all really went out there and made my childhood headcanons true. I will seriously never get over that. Honestly, that one line is what sparked my whole Kitlaf saga of fanfics...
"Are we throwing darts?"
Like, I love how Olaf is just down for whatever. And to emerge from their opera box to see their friends throwing poisoned darts at each other and barely blink an eye speaks volumes to the chaotic nature of VFD.
And poor Kit. She's trying to keep the peace. Olaf's facial expressions in this 2nd gif are honestly the best.
The moment the dart hits Olaf's father, you can actually see Olaf flinch. đ„ș
Olaf may have just been complaining about his father being embarrassing but I think there really was love in that family. Olaf wouldn't be this upset if there wasn't.
Then this moment. Olaf is shocked first. He can't believe what he's seeing. Not so soon after his mother died in a fire (which is canon-divergent from the books).
Lemony's "oh shit" face...
And Kit knows this is the moment that will change everything. Because even if her brother wasn't the one who threw the dart, his fiancée was. And she knows Olaf. She knows he won't be able to forgive Lemony for his involvement... which will cause a rift between her and Olaf. She will have to choose between her brother and her love.
Esmé ain't got time for your Miriam-Webster shit, Lemon Lime.
"Where is Jacques?"
I have so many headcanons of Olaf and the Snicket twins. I wholeheartedly believe O and Jacques were best friends and when Olaf started dating Kit, Jacques had those conflicting "big" brother feelings (Jacques is canonically Kit's twin and I'm 99% sure he's the older one).
The way he looks at Kit when she says "one eyebrow." đ„ș His frown immediately vanished and he rose his eyebrow with pleasant surprise... and then he smiled at her.
A unibrow is something that's often found to be unattractive in modern society, so I imagine Olaf might have been self conscious about it at some point. But his fiancée just complimented it.
I just really love the way he looks at her. I'm sure they made him a bit broody and whatever in the flashback scene to keep his characterization consistent, but they also let us see little glimpses of how happy they were before the world went to shit.
You'll find this interesting, Olaf. Theatrical is a word which here means "related to the theater" but it could also mean "a person who is prone to fits of melodrama."
BONUS
I'm just obsessed with the light, casual touch of him resting his hand on her shoulder. And how absolutely in love Kit looks.

winds somewhere out to sea.
Bitch knew exactly what she was doing when she said that. She baited the hell out of our boy.
Did Mrs Bass steal the Baudelaire fortune?
Oft-mentioned, seldom used, the Baudelaire fortune is the subject of immense scrutiny. Olaf wants to steal it, the Baudelaire orphans plan on inheriting it, Arthur Poe tries to manage it⊠And yet the reader never sees a penny of it. Sunny even calls it a âMcGuffinâ in the final chapter of the last book: a meaningless distraction which drives the plot forward.
But the more obscure sub-plots of âThe Penultimate Perilâ tell another story: that of Mrs. Bass, an unlikely bank robber, and of Mr. Poe, who reappears at Hotel Denouement for a mysterious and dark purpose. Did something happen to the Baudelaire fortune after all?
If you ever wondered what would happen if a character from âA Series Of Unfortunate Eventsâ actually read âA Series Of Unfortunate Eventsâ, youâre in for a surprise. Find out more after the cut.
Note to readers: This theory builds up on several analyses written in the past about the plot of the series. We highly advise you read them before delving into this one:

I am convinced that Duncan was about to say âwas obsessed with your motherâ because Olaf and EsmĂ© absolutely would have talked mad shit about Lemony within earshot of the triplets.
