Ok check it
I got this thought while listening to sad ass music and honestly the idea has probably been discussed before.
In Bug Fables, save points are basically powered crystals with mythic properties. As of the end of the story, its use is primarily power-based and for you, it's a convenient save. But a thought that tends to always float in my head is the typical trope of "If the main cast could travel back in time, what could be said or done to bugs gone or dead?" It's a pretty popular thought I feel in many fanons, but one I always tried to rationalize in my head, like what if there was a way in this universe, but not directly?
Remember the crystals are said to record their surroundings somehow. As if it had its own memories of the bugs that crossed its paths, what they did everyday in small moments when the crystal was struck. Somehow through the evolution of H.B's research, the Professor is able to increase the intelligence of the foes Team Snakemouth faces to better train their warriors via the crystal's power as well as introducing the combatants memories of fighting said enemies to make them adapt. But without really knowing the true, untapped power of the crystals, the individuals in the computer are far more intelligent than she had in mind...to the point of sentience. When Team Snakemouth come to test it out, they find the system starts to malfunction, effectively trapping them. But instead of just battle, the foes and friends they remember deeply are given forms. Built from the crystal acquired in their Explorer's permit, those used to power the machine, and their memories pulled from being connected to the computer, they must now face a small but deep world where both the friends they know are alive interact with the ones deceased. In convoluted chaos, built by records and memories, not by reality.
I dunno, maybe I'm just being a little too much and it can be a bit everywhere too. There's def plotholes and misunderstandings in this as well. But I just wanted to get the thought out! Seemed neat!
TLDR: One story idea I had was the concept of traveling into memories or records using B.O.S.S. Drama, angst and fluff galore. It was a cool thought. Ok ok bie.
