ObiKaka fic rec list let’s goooooo! Here’s a list of my absolute favourites and ones I’m currently subscribed to. I’ll be adding to this when new favs pop up. 

Long Fic

Diplopia by blacknoise. [Probably abandoned].  Damn I love this one. Post-fourth war obkk where Obito is still an angy boy and vicious. It's pretty dark in places, and the relationship is pretty toxic and sex-fueled (by god there's a lot of sex), but it looks like it has the chance to slowly get better.

Kamui Blues by butter_peanut. [Completed]  Obkk become Kamui roommates and sort of fall in love along the way and Obito realises that maybe this world is worth saving after all. God I just *bites knuckle* love this so much. Angsty and sweet and with a happy ending and finished??? Hell yes.

Pitch Black by butter_peanut [Completed] Obito gives Kakashi both of his eyes raises baby Naruto while blind. Role reversal as he’s stalked by a ruthless Kakashi who can’t stop caring about Obito. 

Pity Speaks Backwards by cyavillain [Completed]. Right before he’s supposed to announce the 4th War, Obito decides he doesn’t want to do this anymore but doesn’t want to go back to Konoha and helps Kakashi on the downlow. Heavy Hurt/Comfort with sexual healing. Mainly just focuses on Obito and Kakashi’s relationship. 

Quintessential Reflection by ridingthemagic2arpet [WIP]. Kakashi discovers Kamui and a strange Akatsuki member who inhabits it. He’s convinced that Tobi has stolen Obito’s eye and Kakashi intends to bring down the whole organisation from the inside. 

Gem of the Eddy by beetlebee [Probably abandoned]  Obkk isn't the main focus of the plot, which instead involves around the revival of Uzushio, but this fic is still funny, and cute, and heartwarming. Oh, and Kakashi has been turned into a kitsune fox along with the rest of Team 7. The interactions between fox!Kakashi and Obito are so good, I've gone back and just read those chapters. Beetlebee also has a few other obkk fic that are pretty good.

Discography by malamanteau [WIP]  Post-fourth war that focuses on Kakashi and Obito's relationship and Obito accepting the damage he's done and trying to make up for it.

The Komorebi Series by tomorrowsrain [Probably abandoned]  After Obito sets the Kyuubi on Konoha (which he soon regrets) and Kakashi defends him, they're both banished from Konoha and roam as missing-nin. Only have Team 7 fostered on them and become sensei. This is really sweet with serious found family feels going on.

What Once Was Lost by LilanAsmodora [WIP]  Obito kills Kakashi during the fourth war and insta-regrets while also being haunted by Kakashi's not-ghost. He tries to fix things by going back in time and saving his younger self. There's still a lot of set up going on in this fic but it looks like it's heading interesting places and I do enjoy the multiple POVs.

Eleven Months by Amikotsu [Probably abandoned]. Obito breaks out of Madara’s cave, losing his Zetsu arm in the process and while he can’t save Rin, he can return with Kakashi to Konoha. This is just really sweet with young Obito and Kakashi becoming friends and reliant on one another. It’s pre-ObiKaka still where it’s stopped (they’re still young teenagers). Also features really nice original side characters. Really wish this would update. 

Crimson Stains by Hellowriters [Probably abandoned]. Kakashi accidently dimension hops in his pajamas to a world where Obito is alive and Kakashi’s alternative self is the leader of Akatsuki. The shinobi world has all but been destroyed and the remnants of those who oppose Akatsuki are forced to survive underground. Nice intrigue going on. Also features Hokage Kushina!

One shots

Convergence by blacknoise. Snippets of Obito and Kakashi's relationship that are really sweet and angsty all at the same time.

The New Recruit by butter_peanut. I’m just out here recommending all of Peanut’s stuff, don’t mind me. Kakashi infiltrates Akatsuki as Sukea and there are shenanigans. 

Ghost Story by Hiiraeth. Not explicitly OBKK (tagged platonic in this only), but still good. Obito doesn’t die, to his surprise, and now shares a body with Kakashi.

Let me feel your heartbeat (grow faster, faster) by MomoYoMaki. Little time travel fic in which Kakashi travels back to his younger self and jail breaks Obito from Madara’s cave. 

Choose life by Foxfluent. Obito saves Kakashi’s life. Then keeps on saving him. They both fall a little in love. Very sweet.

Do me a favor by colormebleu. [WIP] Obito and Kakashi have been fake dating for years and now start to ‘practice’ sex to ‘make it convincing’ and well...

A Week in Kiri With the Hound by butter_peanut. [Completed] Kakashi doesn’t love himself and Obito teaches him how with sex

You’re just a daydream away by shannyan [Complete] Largely smut but with feelings that make me gooey inside. Obito visits Kakashi in his Tsukuyomi dream and doesn’t understand why despite the fact that Kakashi could have anything he wanted, his dream is about his devotion to Obito. Obito hijacks Dream!Obito’s body and things go from there. I really love this one.

hi i know it's been literally ten years but needed you to know i just finished absolutely devouring your fic jusqu'à demain and i was mentally eating glass through all of it. it got darker than i expected (although honestly i should always expect it with time loop fic) but it checked every single one of my boxes for the things i look for with laurens fic and elevated it to laurens in a blender specially prepared exactly to my tastes. my jaw dropped through the floor at the pov change to lafayette and the way loop 28 skipped over and having to piece together what happened and how laurens must have been feeling from lafs pov my insides were turning themselves inside out my brain exploded and the cherry on top was lams finally making out during loop 31. the laurens whump is so beautifully executed for maximum blending and his staunch repression and compartmentalization aches so good that the payoff in chapter 13 of finally allowing himself to feel the full extent of everything because this time it's hamilton, the absolute heights of catharsis i have felt like never before. it's like 2 am and i am laying in the dark shaking because of this fic it was so good and i am so glad you shared it thank you for writing it i am rotating it in my mouth like candy

Sorry I haven't been on Tumblr in a while and missed this! Thank you so much for enjoying the fic! Even though it's not finished, it's still one I hold dear in my heart and im glad people are enjoying it over ten years later ❤️❤️

Still fucked up at the Duffers not wanting to give Mike a gun to "protect his childhood innocence". What are you even TALKING about, bro? You made child soldiers out of every one of those kids.

In season 1, Mike saw his childhood best friend's body pulled out of a lake, almost committed suicide by walking off a cliff, saw soldiers getting massacred at a school and was nearly killed by a demogorgan while he watched a little girl and monster get obliterated.

In season 2, he watched his best friend get possessed by a cosmic entity, soldiers being massacred at the lab including his friend's mother's boyfriend, and nearly died again to demo dogs.

In season 3 he was nearly killed by a possessed man, the mindflayer in flesh form as it attacked the cabin, and he watched the possessed man die horribly in front of him.

In season 4, his friend's house was literally shot up, multiple people died, and a man died in his arms causing them to have to bury his body. And then he saw multiple people dead outside the NINA project bunker.

In season 5, volume 1, his parents were nearly killed, his childhood home destroyed, his sister kidnapped, and he saw ANOTHER massacre and had to try and protect children as people were torn to shreds around him.

Mike lost his "childhood innocence" LONG ago. You just don't know your own characters or fucking storyline.

When he figures himself out, Mike changes his name to Michael Childress so he has nothing to do with bum Ted Wheeler and embraces his mama's side.

In the final scene with Vecna, we could have had Will dying of a heart attack from all the pain, Mike crashing out, and El saving Will like she did Max by restarting his heart. Will would have finally been released from the hivemind and surrounded by his loved ones; something Henry never had. Instead, we got... whatever that was.

Stuck in a narrative that doesn't serve him, that stifles him, that brushed his entire personality away, that didn't allow him to explore his desires, that didn't give him the chance to make a choice independent of the narrative he was forced into, that failed to provide him the safe space he so desperately needed, that gave him a real life mirror and showed him another queer person but kept him at arms length, that told him choices are permanent with no room for change, that made him prioritise security over liberty. And one that failed him on both accounts anyway.

all of you coming up with insane theories and writing beautiful fanfiction all of these years need to get into the screenwriting/film and tv world. i’ve read some things that totally blew my mind and were better than any commercial tv show or movie or book. the duffer brothers did fine, but god, you guys did amazing.

Also why the fuck is Mike on a TYPEWRITER? Brother, they had computers in 1992. Is he trying so hard to be a novelist that he thinks using a typewriter will elevate his prose?

Trying to formulate my thoughts because I am so fucking angry. And I am angry about so much, but the thing that makes me the angriest is that I’ve seen this a million times before, and I genuinely had belief that this time would be different. But of course it wasn’t.

Because every straight relationship gets their time. Even if they don’t end up together; they still get to experience joy and love and happiness WITH another person. But for the main queer character of the show, he has to learn to love and accept HIMSELF. on his OWN. this is a lesson he apparently needs to learn over and over again so he can stop expecting to be loved back. Because his feelings aren’t important or normal or real, he is different. And he will always be different. He has to learn the lesson that just because he is gay, doesn’t mean other people are freaks like him. He should learn to be happy by himself and accept who he is, not expect anyone to ever love him back.

Why is it that with straight people, they’re allowed to fall in love and experience happiness in a relationship and even get a happy ending WITH the person they love. But for queer people, they ALWAYS have to ‘learn a lesson’ about self acceptance. They never get to fall in love because they “never needed it” but of course no straight person ever has to learn that lesson.

It sends a very clear ‘don’t ask don’t tell’ message to the world that queer happiness is not something worth exploring or talking about, when hetero couples get to have complex and varyingly fulfilling relationships. Teaching a new generation of queer kids that no one will ever love them back, and that their valid crushes are getting in the way of heterosexual stories is repulsive.

It’s not just about some ship. It’s about the message behind it. It’s about how much suffering Will goes through that is directly linked to his queer experience, and how he doesn’t believe himself to be loveable because of this. He thinks there is something wrong with him. And this ending sends the message that yes. Yes there is something wrong with him. How dare he want?? How dare YOU want?? Falling in love with your straight best friend??? Whats wrong with you??? Of course you don’t end up together. Why would you ever think that you would have a chance with them?? They are normal. You are wrong. That’s the message Will’s ending sends.

It’s not a coincidence that he is the ONLY character in the entire show that doesn’t have a love interest. Argyle got a love interest. Mr Clarke got TWO. VECNA GOT A SPIN OFF LOVE STORY PLAY. But the queer MAIN character?? No. Of course not. HE has to learn to be happy on his own. He has to suffer and suffer and SUFFER and at the end of it all he has to move on. He doesn’t even get to talk to Mike about it, because why would he entertain the idea that he could be loved back?? He IS unloveable. He was right. YOU were right. When you thought that about yourself. You were right to call yourself stupid and disgusting and WRONG. Why would you think you deserve to be happy??
