hello all! as you know we've been a little financially precarious since April and have been trying to stay afloat so we can move to China for my new job (see my pinned here). We paused our gfm two weeks ago because we thought we were all set, but unfortunately something kind of urgent has come up.

Due to a mix-up involving our forwarding address, USPS has lost a very important piece of my paperwork. It cost me about $350 to obtain and have this paperwork shipped to me. They did not even give the option of adding insurance when it was mailed, so there isn't a way to get reimbursed if they can't find it. We don't have the money to cover a new one.

We are hoping that it may still turn up, but if it doesn't, we're running out of time to get a new one. I need to have it in my hands before we leave the first week of August, because I need to be able to give it to the visa authorities when we land. Please help us urgently raise an additional $400 (to cover previous costs + expedited shipping) for this unexpected expense. No donation amount is too small, and no share is too insignificant!! Our gfm is currently sitting at $1860, so the total raised would be $2260 when finished.

We are starting fundraising now so there is enough time to get the funds we need. If USPS does find the missing documents, any funds raised will go toward groceries--we've struggled to walk to the food bank as often as usual with the recent heat.

since only like two cross platform mutuals use this I can post sappy and not feel bummed out. brief moment with scotty after taking him out of the biodegradable bag. when you’re small you can kinda press your dog in greater proportion, less threat of injury. i got to hug him harder than i ever have today and it was only in the hours after he had passed. you’d pet him and the fur would make your hand hot. you’d press that hand into him and you’d feel your own pulse. your brain lets slip a few things just for comfort. there was an illusion of life without the discomfort there.
