help two trans people cover food, meds, and bills for august
hello! I'm very very embarrassed to have to come here and continue to ask for help, but we don't really have much choice. I start a new job this month but my first paycheck won't be coming until September 15th. For quite a long while, this was not a problem. We assumed we had enough savings to skate by on because we'd be moving somewhere where the cost of living is lower in July.
Significant delays for a multitude of reasons (mostly bureaucratic paperwork ones) have meant that we have been staying in place for an extra six weeks despite no longer having an apartment or a real space of our own. Food is expensive here. My insurance is not covering my meds for some unexplainable reason that I'm still working on. We are running out of money. We have maxed out our credit cards. We asked our transphobic parents for money and they said NO.
We are trying to raise just a bit more to sustain us through until my first paycheck. Specifically we are looking to raise:
- $500 for credit card and other bills (phones, meds, transportation). Paying off credit card bills also gives us some of our credit line back, which we can use to pay for food/miscellaneous items in the next couple of weeks.
- $500 for general living expenses after the move. Since I won't be getting paid for another six weeks, we need money to hold us over until the first paycheck. I'm setting the amount a little high in case we end up needing that much (esp since in the past we've run into surprise expenses related to the move)
I know everyone is struggling right now but please help us spread this so we can stay afloat. We are so so so close, we just need to make it a little longer. I also take commissions for fancams and resume writing, just send me an ask and we'll make it happen.
help my disabled mother-in-law after death in the family
hello! I know I haven't been on here in ages and I'm sorry to just jump right back in with more fundraising, but circumstances have forced my hand a bit.
Just before christmas, my father-in-law died of a heart attack after years of sustained health issues from COVID complications. My mother-in-law has CRPS, an autoimmune condition that causes intense and widespread chronic pain. She is not able to work more than part-time because of her illness, which means she has very little income now that my FIL is gone. Making matters worse, she's having difficulties getting his life insurance policy to pay out right now.
My wife and I are in a much better position financially than we were a year ago--I have a steady job and our living expenses are lower. However, we racked up a lot of credit card debt last year while we were unemployed and preparing for our move (rent, moving expenses, paperwork, etc.). We're currently paying about 800 USD a month in minimum payments, which makes it a little difficult for us to send money and support my MIL .
We're hoping to raise a little money to 1) send to her immediately to help her cover some of her basic needs like groceries, gas, bills, etc. and 2) help us reduce the amount of our minimum payments a bit so that we can afford to send her more money every month in the long-term. We're hoping his life insurance will pay out soon, but so far it seems like there's no guarantee.
We know everyone is struggling right now and we hope that you will put your money toward Palestinian fundraisers first. However, if you have any extra to spare, we hope you will think of us, and that you will help us spread the word even if you're broke. Thank you all in advance, and I'm sorry to have to do this again.
To any Europeans reading, please consider sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family.
It's for @bilal-salah0, a 22 year old Palestinian refugee who, while trying to raise funds for his family in Gaza, is facing the possibility of an imminent deportation from Germany. It might happen as early as next week, which is why his fundraiser is so urgent.
I of course encourage everyone who can to share and donate, but I especially think us Europeans, with the current and terrifying uptick in anti-immigration rhetoric and violence, have an extra responsibility of helping Bilal.
For more information on Bilal's current situation, please read this post from one of his friends.
thank you so much to everyone who has talked about Bilal's situation, shared and donated. we still have a way to go before reaching his goal, but i want to remain hopeful until the end that we will find a way to turn his situation around, not only for him, but also his family.
We are slowing down a little bit! Let's not do that! Please continue to donate and share!
Bilal is facing deportation and he needs all the help to make sure his family evacuates! I also need to remind you that Bilal is 22 years old! He is a college student! Let's lift the burden off from his shoulders!
188 Euros raised in the last 1.5 hours. This is a considerable dip from the last update. Please don't let his campaign slow down further. Donate and share!
only €75 raised in the last two hours, the campaign is slowing down which is not good. if you are european, please please share this so it gets more traction.
Hey everyone!! Thanks to all your effort, Siraj has hit his short term goal of $30k CAD! Now we move on to his next short term goal, which he has to reach by the end of this week, $40k CAD / $29,080 USD.
In case you don't know him, he's a journalist who used to write about charity work and people in need, but has now found himself in the same position. He posts daily updates about the abysmal living conditions in the genocide in southern Gaza at @siraj2024. He's currently fundraising to rebuild his family home and take care of his wife and three young boys.
Here is his most recent daily update:
Today I walked 3 km to get internet, and tell you about us.
Do you hear?
Here we are being annihilated day and night, every minute, every second
With every cup of tea you drink With every tremor of the heart, the blink of an eye.
In every family session that brings you together, there are entire families buried in an instant under the rubble.
Today morning, more than 100 martyrs were killed in less than a minute in a shelter center in Al-Tabaeen School.
With every book you read, there are true stories written in blood
Does this mean anything to you?
Why am I telling you that?
I don't know.
But dear friend said to me one day: “Write, Siraj. Don’t stop. Write not so that anyone can read. Rather, write so that Siraj can rest. Write for Siraj.”
Despite all the bombing and danger Siraj is going through, he still seeks to rebuild his home that was destroyed by the occupation. He seeks to build his soul and his homeland.

Abdullah Ameen resides in the Nuseirat camp with his wife and two extremely young children; the older being only one, the youngest being a newborn. The ongoing genocide makes it far too dangerous and difficult for Abdullah and his wife to raise their children securely and safely. He has also recently amended his campaign in order to evacuate his mother, who is injured with a pelvic fracture, and sisters.
His campaign began in April, yet it has received only a fraction of its goal of €35,000 throughout the past five months. His family must be evacuated urgently, especially since he is with a newborn child and his injured mother, who is unable to visit a doctor.
His fundraiser (link) is #134 on @/el-shab-hussein and @/nabulsi's vetted gaza evacuation fundraiser list. (link)
[image id: two images of Abdullah with his family. on the left, he is smiling next to his one year old son, Amin. on the right, he is holding his newborn daughter, Palestine, while his wife stands next to him holding Amin. end id.]
By August 12th, it is our aim to boost his campaign so that he may reach €8,000 in donations. He currently has €5,483. This means that there are €2,517 left to go.
There is still a long way to go after this goal is reached, but it is urgent that we make a start now.
Tag list under the cut. Let me know if you'd like to be removed.
One, Mohammed and his wife Manal. They have five children, the oldest of which is only seventeen, and the youngest a newborn whose mother is struggling to breastfeed due to her own malnutrition.
Two, Shaimaa and her husband Mahmoud. They also have five children, the oldest of which is only eighteen, and the youngest eight.
Mohammed and Shaimaa are the brother and sister of @wafans-blog, who succeeded to raise funds for her own immediate family's evacuation, and is now seeking to do the same for her siblings, nephews, and nieces, while she is currently receiving urgent medical care in Egypt.
I can't possibly list all the horrors that the twelve of them have faced. I can only name some:
Evacuation order after evacuation order, from unsafe zone to unsafe zone.
Going three days without food while under siege.
Constant illness, hunger, and panic.
Eldest children, not even adults yet, going into active warzones to seek food.
Infant child suffering from a vitamin deficiency due to lack of milk, his sickly mother deprived of postpartum care and battling malnutrition, amidst the unsanitary conditions.
The border could open in the following days, and we have already let these two families down by not reaching their long term goal of 80k by that time, but the least we could do is to raise enough to evacuate as many of them in the next few days.

Number 260 on this vetted list of evacuation fundraisers.
After Bilal @bilal-salah0 reached his goal on August 1st, he contacted me to let me know that, because the Rafah crossing is still bombed and closed, he can't actually use the funds to evacuate his family right away. The funds have since been redirected toward the skyrocketing cost of living in Gaza.
His family now has to raise another €30,000 as soon as possible to sustain themselves before the Rafah crossing opens, which could be as soon as next week for all we know.
My post celebrating Bilal getting close to his original GFM goal has over 7,000 notes, yet Bilal is only bringing in €20 every hour or so, which is a sharp decline from his previous momentum.
Bilal is still struggling with his own housing insecurity in Germany and the looming threat of deportation. Despite this horror, he's put the work in to vet a handful of fundraisers, promote fundraisers, and call out scams for us. He is simply too busy to campaign for his family on his own.
I encourage everyone to donate to Bilal's family and share his campaign with people you know on other social media platforms. You can repost any of the art people have made for him and share the pictures on his gofundme.
Bilal is a valuable member of our community! Please don't let him fall through the cracks!

I've had a chat with a woman named Suad and she's trusted me to share her story with you all.
Suad is a young engineer from Gaza who was excelling in her field, and had recently been told that she is pregnant. She had a bright future ahead of her until disaster struck and Israel and their constant bombings destroyed everything she holds dear.
She and her husband are now living out of a tent like many Gazans now. They have had to struggle to find food and water, and not only this, but Suad is also trying to nurture an unborn baby without access to adequate food and the prenatal care that a pregnant mother needs.
She is fundraising now to get herself, along with her husband and their family members out of Gaza. They require $20,000 to get out of Gaza and an additional $8,000 for transfer costs and living expenses in Egypt.
(ID in Alt)
As of right now, they have made only $2,732 of their goal and their situation is urgent. Suad is now nearly 9th months along and will be giving birth to her child very soon in very dangerous conditions for both herself and the baby.
Please donate whatever you can to this fundraiser, and if you cannot donate, I urge you to share!

I am Asmaa Ayyad, 25 years old, from Gaza. I lost about 15 kilos of my weight because of the war, the lack of food and water, and the closure of crossings and borders. When food is available, we cannot buy it because its price is abnormal and expensive. This applies to all members of my family.😭💔
Please help me and my family to get out of Gaza as soon as possible when Rafah crossing opens.💔

My name is Aya Maher, a 24-year-old Palestinian from Gaza. I want to share the heartbreaking story of my family. My mother, Ashwaq, is 43 years old, my brother Hamza is 22 years old, my brother Bader is 16, my little sister Nada is 12, and myself. We've endured 280 days of continuous bombardment during this devastating war.
Since its onset, we've faced a relentless cascade of losses. Our lives have been emptied, and the dreams we once pursued now seem like unattainable fantasies.
We were displaced from our home, and tragically, we lost our new home as well—a place we had worked tirelessly to create, hoping it would become a sanctuary where we could build beautiful memories.
Despite being displaced from our home by the presence of occupation forces in our area, we found refuge in the home of relatives. Our lives have been repeatedly endangered by barbaric bombing campaigns. We narrowly escaped death twice during sudden tank attacks. Additionally, we endured intense bombardment while trapped inside our house, enduring a harrowing four-day siege.
Despite the immense difficulties, my family and I insisted on staying in Gaza, facing the constant threat of bombings and the scarcity of essential resources. Now, after five months of siege, we are on the brink of famine, struggling to find basic necessities like food, water, and medicine. We've decided to leave Gaza for our safety, but the high costs of coordination are a barrier.
My professional life has been utterly decimated. For three years, I thrived as a user interface designer on freelance platforms. However, since the onset of this war, my ability to work has been obliterated. The occupation's relentless bombing campaigns have ravaged internet infrastructure, rendering it barely functional. Now, even basic online tasks are nearly impossible. Consequently, I'm left without any financial means to sustain myself. What's even more disheartening is the realization that even after the war concludes, the road back to work will be fraught with obstacles due to the extensive damage inflicted upon network lines.
I'm reaching out to you with the hope that you can assist us in achieving our goal more quickly. Normally, I wouldn't ask for help, but the fear of losing a family member has compelled me to seek your assistance. We hope you can empathize with our situation and help us amplify our message so we can achieve our goal swiftly.

i think it's really important to understand that posts getting notes isn't equal to the fundraisers they're promoting getting donations. i think a lot about how the idea that someone else is doing something creates inaction - and while to be clear, i really do appreciate people sharing fundraisers, an issue that many of us have been witnessing is people sharing without contributing. and if you're doing that because you legitimately can't contribute for whatever reason, that's alright! but if you can, please make sure that you take a minute when you're able to click the links on fundraising posts and throw in a dollar or two.
i made a post for Abdallah's fundraiser ( @abdallahblog0 ) yesterday, and though it was circulating he only received $5 in donations since i published it. his fundraiser is not the only case of this I've seen. Ahed's fundraiser (@ahedalshaer ) has had multiple posts made for her, but her donations are very slow. again, sharing is very much appreciated, but I ask that everyone act with the sense that to not act as an individual is to not act as a group - you control only your own actions, and you shouldn't assume someone else is doing the work in your stead. if everyone did that, nobody would act, and you are everyone.

My dreams were simple, hoping that my life would continue as I wished. I persevered and hoped to build a future for myself and my family, but what happened was something I never expected because of the war that I and my family were exposed to. I lost my job and my passion for continuing my studies, my home, and a number of my family members because of the destruction and bombing that we were exposed to, which Many have been affected by it during the recent period
. I can no longer bear the costs of living and studying without money or the slightest assistance, and with this we now live without money, food, or livable shelterTrying hard to get what would keep me alive and to complete my studies from these harsh conditions. Today I appeal to people of human conscience to help
I just want the opportunity to get enough money for food, then for shelter, and then to complete my studies, and to achieve my dream of being an engineer and contributing to the progress of my society. I believe and am determined that if I get sufficient support, I will be able to succeed and rebuild my life and the life of my family

Guys the situation in Khan Younis is so scary that I don’t even know how to put it into words anymore. All it takes is looking up the city and seeing headlines like “over 100 of bodies ripped to pieces in Khan Younis!” “An Israeli airstrike decimates a house in Khan Younis belonging to x family!” “Even in the midst of ceasefire talks, Israeli forces continue pushing into Khan Younis” for all-consuming anxiety to seize me for all the families that have yet to evacuate. It’s getting so so bad there & yet so many people are still unable to evacuate.
Going to suggest a starting point to help by asking you to donate however much you can (anything helps) to Mohammad and Shaima’s fundraiser. Mohammad is Wafaa’s brother. Wafaa has been in direct contact w multiple ppl on here (me included) about her rapidly deteriorating health. This really is the lifeline for her family (the majority of whom are children) stuck in Khan Younis still. It’s incredibly dehumanizing.
It’s entirely attainable to raise the funds for them, but people keep falling off bc unfortunately a lot of them are desensitized to genocide. We should be pushing this rn more than we ever were.
I get that you’re probably like “ANOTHER fundraiser post” but like… just get over it and do your part. I’m kind of realizing that I refuse to coddle people about this anymore tbh. You should donate and share this bc it’s the right thing to do, not bc it played to your heartstrings or your savior complex. You should share it because you should, the same way you should drink water every day. That’s really all.
Also starting to think that a lot of you just like to point and gawk at what you perceive to be dirty Arabs going through typical third world country things ….. like it’s not a coincidence that posts w shock factor always get more notes than do donation posts that actually help the people suffering. I rly want people to prove me wrong by helping this campaign reach its goal. And remember that everyone would rather pass this fundraiser along than actually do anything, so be the person who not only rbs it but also actually donates (whatever you can! Bc every dollar counts!) to help push it along. The disparity between notes and actual money donated is too stark.
Please, I beg you, do not abandon my family, my brother Muhammad and Shaima, and their family. Please save them from the massacres that occur on a daily basis against civilians. Please, I don't want to imagine that one day something bad will happen to them. The situation is more than difficult. And my chair is far from forced displacement and sleeping on the roads and streets with an infant suffering from severe vitamin deficiency and lack of milk, far from polluted water and lack of food, far from living in a tent covered with cloth in this hot weather and sleeping on the ground, and among them. Insects and reptiles live. Please view them with compassion and donate generously. Their campaign is slow and needs strong support. They are two families, not one, so I ask you not to abandon them and to donate if you are able to contribute to saving a human soul.
