What are the most amazing movies you've seen? But why do you think they are best ?
I personally love a movie that makes me believe for a few moments that I'm there, in the time presented in the movie, along with the characters. If I don't start to feel the rush, tension and thrill some of the characters feel then that was not a good movie for me.
Not until long ago I considered watching movie a sort of a waste of time. You just contemplate what others did with long struggle, pain, effort, money and consistent and recurrent work. That's hard. So the way I saw things is that very few work hard and let it look like it was so easy do achieve it, anyone can while most of the people, including myself, believed that... yeah, I can do it too.
This sort of feeling didn't occur to me after I finish reading a book. Every single time I finish a book, even short one, when looking behind to all I've read I feel overwhelmed to what that author did. Pulling those ideas from the book in the first place, distilling them and making them coherent, writing them in such an order that I actually get it, resisting the pressure of the critiques, the publisher and the first reviewers... That's massive. That's not trivial and definitely I need a lot of training to do.
Now I start not to think that reading books and watching movies is a waste of time. I try the get the best out of it. How?
Well, to learn from an experience you don't actually have to live it or have a similar one yourself. You can at any time learn something out of it. Ask yourself what you would have done if you were the main character of the movie or of the book? Wearing their shoes give you the great possibility to think and respond in your head, to that situation.
That's pure experience. This is how you learn in the real world. If your brain is not actually connected to the situations and things happening to you in the real life then there is no experience attached to it. Until you think and try to make sense out of things, there is no experience.
The more we live in our brain and let our thoughts loose, wonder around without any purpose, keep the neurons busy with endless whispers on our ears we will never achieve the best out of it. Distilling an experience, connecting the dots and selecting the relevant pillars of that moment is something that takes time, effort and a clear mind.
I decide to make from now on all relevant movies my own experiences and learn from them the best and most I can.
