I rewatched the movie yesterday and I'm getting so many new ideas for a rewrite!!!!

So I'm thinking that Hamegg actually discovered Tenma's plans to make Astro a long time ago, as Toby died a while before the 2007 storyboarded version of the movie

Tenma is pretty nefarious and mad in this version, and literally created a smear campaign against Hamegg so he gets banished off Metro City, saying that he was using his robots in illegal fighting tournaments, and fabricated false evidence of Hamegg doing so.

So after Hamegg was kicked off the floating island he took on this persona of the fighting ring leader guy that Tenma pushed into the city's consciousness and brought his technological smarts with him to the surface and probably has a visibly happier life down there than in the floating city.

When Astro came along it took a few days to realise that he is the robot Tenma made to be an instrument of revenge against the people who wronged him, but Astro is just a sweet boy to Hamegg and his traders, what could he have done to be down in a place like this?

Hamegg pseudo-manipulates and builds a transactional relationship with Astro without the boy ever realising, hiding the secret that Astro is a robot as long as what he does favours Hamegg.

I find it funny when media portrays an ace character dating an allosexual one and slowly becoming more and more sexual cause my experience was totally the opposite.

I used to be borderline hypersexual and dating an asexual folk for 10 years only made me less and less sexual to the point nowadays I identify as gray ace.

And I say funny, but not in a good sense, cause it is blatant acephobia. It represents the idea that ace folks can "discover their love of sex through romanticism" while discovering your diastaste of it through the same means is not considered plausible.

It all ends up lingering over the idea that asexuality is something that, if you find the right partner, you can cure.

And that is very cringe.

The terrible horse himself!

Shock horror, he's actually a changeling. He prefers his pony form over his true form, so he rarely ever looks like a changeling. His Cutie Mark is fake, and he swaps it around for other things sometimes. This is just his most commonly used one. Also, I drew him as an earth pony here just bc I think it looks best on him (plus I just really like earth ponies), but he will swap to different pony types pretty often. Most often, a pegasus so he can fly around without suspicion.

I thought a changeling was pretty perfect for Rock. He's a selfish, manipulative git whose whole deal is deceiving people to get his way. Being a literal shapeshifter is perfect for his constant use of ridiculously convincing disguises, he seemingly pulls out of nowhere, lmao. Plus, Changelings can actually hypnotise people! Something Rock can sometimes do too.
