Visiting Taiwan is certainly not complete without visiting Jiufen! As a huge fan of Spirited Away, it was amazing to see Jiufen come to life at night, red lanterns bobbing and tea houses chattering 🏮

This piece got me back into drawing more regularly. I used to draw and paint everyday, but somehow life got in the way and I found myself not creating anymore.

One day, this image lingered in my mind and I took to drawing it. It has been a few months since that day and now I’ve decided to revive my Tumblr blogs and focus more on my art!

📍 The Sword Lion of Anping, Taiwan

Anping is a city by the sea where we spent 2 nights. There are lovely little nooks and crannies to explore, and streets filled with bustling food stalls. Imagine an old street filled with glowing colourful lanterns swaying in the wind, and the smell of prawn crackers 🦐

I remember admiring the view from here and thinking about what this statue might have witnessed in all its years sitting there.

A lovely Balinese-styled cafe where my friend and I spent a quiet afternoon listening to the wind and watching the fish swim ✨

This started off as a 10 minute sketch while we were waiting for the hourly bus to arrive at the waterfall. When we got back, I finished it up to commemorate the visit! 🚌🚏
