Lois sips at her coffee slowly, mulling the other woman’s words over. I know, I know, I keep promising things and they fall through so lemme say this, consider me on a semi hiatus at least for this week. I’m still here and lurking and when I need a break I’ll try to get some things out but I have big stuff due all this week in all of my classes and the studying alone is kicking my butt. I do promise to try to get done what I can when I get a chance. Knock on wood I’ll be on top of things again by next week once all of this is all over.

“ I wouldn’t expect anything less. ” A warmth, that feels as though it’s been absent for ages, starts to blossom within his chest. He can’t remember the last time he saw anything close to a smile on Nikita’s face, but it’s enough to draw the corners of his mouth up too. “ None of this was my doing - or choice. Trust me. ” It’s disconcerting, to know that there’s another hand pulling strings in their lives again - just when they thought they were finally FREE… He’s starting to believe that might never really happen. Perhaps it’s a  l u x u r y  that is simply meant for other people. Not them. Never them. “ It depends on what you mean by ‘back.’ It took me a while to get back on my feet after… ” He doesn’t need to continue that sentence; somehow Ryan gets the feeling that the horror of that night has lingered in her mind just as it has his. “ I wanted to reach out but.. well, not until I was better. From what I managed to learn, you were happy. Moving forward. I didn’t want to put your life on hold again. ”

It’s nice to see him S M I L E again, considering how much the weight of the world had been resting on his shoulders the last time they spoke in any detailed manner. If things felt normal before, having Ryan here and smiling again felt even better than that. She reaches over to squeeze his hand in comfort, knowing that he was just as blindsided as they were over this whole thing. Seeing and reacting to it was no near the same as going through it firsthand. It was unimaginable to think of what he had been going through during that time, or how things would have been for him when he awoke. “I have no doubt, but don’t worry, Ryan. We’ll get to the bottom of this, I PROMISE.” There’s a desire to have been there when he woke up, to help him through all he had gone through and to have been a shoulder for him to have leaned on when he needed it. But recovery was a long and strenuous process, different for each person. If what he had needed was time to himself, then so be it. She can’t help but offer a small comment over it though. “I understand the desire to wait, but Ryan, we would have taken you no matter how you were. I would have taken you no matter how you were. And  it wouldn’t have been on hold, and even if it had been, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN WORTH IT.”
