* SILVER

“oh vidia, come on. i’ve been trying to get in touch with you all day.” silver pleaded, knocking on the other girl’s door. “i know you’re in there.. you can’t be so busy you don’t want to do a spa day… or go running. i promise i’ll keep up this time.” silver just really wanted to be vidia’s buddy.. the two clashed more than any of the other girls in their group of friends. “please… you said one day we could hang out.”

THE LAST thing vidia was expecting was a knock at her door. she had just gotten back from the gym, so why would anyone be needing her? once she heard silver’s voice though, she wasn’t surprised. she was always showing up without warning ( vidia hadn’t picked up her phone to see the missed calls and texts ) as if vidia wasn’t busy always busy. “ i didn’t mean NOW,  sil, ” she began as she pulled the door open. “ unless your plan is to give me the sponge bath of my life, now isn’t a good time. ”

Barrel: ???

Barrel: Oh, shit you aren't Quinn.

Barrel: This isn't Quinn's number anymore? who are you?

Vidia: why should i tell a stranger my identity?

* GILL

“Why would I need to move stuff?” he asked, her question not making sense. He’s not getting out of this apartment anytime soon. “Or it could just be me trying to show the world I don’t want to be a host. A passive way of saying I don’t want guests.”

VIDIA ROLLED her eyes as she listened to gill complain. “ oh boohoo. aren’t you like thirty? just get over it, you’re going to have people come over, announced or not. what do you need all of this shit for, anyway? ”

* FAWN

The little gang of canines (big and small) were happy to pile inside, all trying to cut in front of each other to get to Vidia, forgetting about whatever they had been entertaining themselves with outside. Their tails wagging, a few excited barks, it was like they were in competition to see who could be the first to lick her face. “Careful, Vid,” Fawn teased, standing by the door and watching with a smile. “Your soft side is showing.”

AS VIDIA greeted every pup with a head pat and an ear scratch, a smile was etched across her face. however, it quickly disappeared with fawn’s comment. “ excuse me? ’m not sure what you’re going on about, seeing that i don’t have a soft side. and if you even try and tell anyone that i do, you’re dead meat. you hear me? ”

* TRAMP

“jesus christ…!” he exclaimed as the woman appeared in front of his vehicle. one second later and he might’ve knocked her over, and he could not afford that legal battle. “…yes! they do, but could you not have asked me about that when i’m not about to hit the road?” he rolled his eyes before finally shrugging it off. “speed? well, it ain’t a sports car but does an overpriced and overrated lambo have the same coolness factor as a ‘67 cad deville? i don’t think so. why d’ya ask?”

“ THERE’S NO time like the present, ” she commented as she trailed her middle finger along the hood of the car without permission. vidia was going to live her life by her own rules, and she wasn’t going to let anybody stop her. even if it meant almost getting run over by a stranger in an old-timey car. “ not sure how i feel about COOL. ” vidia always liked to be one step ahead of everything, and speed was the easiest way to do that. she gave his car another look over before shaking her head. “ if these things were faster, maybe i’d own myself a car. i’ve been looking for the right car to change my mind.”

 * ZARINA

“yup, good thing i know how to chew through my leash,” she said playing along with her sarcasm as it bit through the air. vidia was always someone who she could count on to divulge in reckless mistakes but now, things were different and she made pushing away so much easier. it was almost like vidia was glad she was gone. “don’t you have a protocol to follow, after all –– your leader is a flake and an orphan. keep that mind,” she smirked back. “how’d you guess? actually i’ve been putting on white face paint daily to really blend in with the despair around this town, thanks for noticing, sweets.” 

“ PERHAPS IT’S time he gets you a shock collar then, hm? or maybe your sad, fucked up brain would find it too exciting. ” vidia hadn’t kept up with zarina at all since her departure, and she felt everything was better that way. easier, even. “ she’s not my leader. ” the same mantra the two of them had shared since the very beginning. tinka simply rounded the group up, but in no way was she above vidia or any of the others. “ are you finding it hard to have someone actually boss you around? someone you can’t ignore? such a shame. ” vidia crossed her arms as she offered the other one a short nod. “ oh, the despair that YOU caused? guess it makes sense you’d want to claim it-- you’ve always been too proud for your own good. ”

* MICHAEL

Michael frowned at her response, not expecting such a reaction. “It’s small, really,” he reassured. “I need you to help me with my wardrobe,” he admitted, “I just, don’t think I like it anymore… And it’s mostly just what my mom picks out! And I love her, but I just don’t love her taste!” 

vidia was still a bit lost. “ do i look like some sort of fashion expert? ” she didn’t consider herself to be one. her closet consisted of mostly greys and blacks, some whites thrown into the mix to add some lightness. “ was tink busy or something? or even your SISTER? ” vidia knew more about the eldest darling than she ever cared to. mostly that she was tink’s mortal enemy.

Barrel: So hypodermically speaking

Barrel: if I was outside your house with two backpacks, a flash light and some camping gear.

Barrel: What would you say?

Vidia: who are you?

Vidia: how did you get my number?

Vidia: how did you get my address?

* MIGUEL

“Not a hundred percent, no.” Miguel shook his head. “Pero I would say that there is some part of me that kind of is.” At this, he didn’t even attempt to hide the smirk that appeared on his face before snickering at her. Laying the ouija board out flat between them, the aspiring musician even went as far as to let out a low hum while doing so. “They only follow you around if you are successful in calling to them, which like, is still a very slim chance, you know?” His gaze shifted to look at her. “And only if you actually believe that they are there. Although in all fairness, they would haunt you even worse if you don’t believe in them.” He snorted. “Don’t tell me that you’re actually afraid?!”

MIGUEL RIVERA really knew how to push her buttons. she reached over and snatched the planchette from his hands and placed it on top of the board. “ do i look like some sort of pussy to you? i’m not scared of anything. ” she closed her eyes as she placed her hand on the small piece of wood, letting out a breath. “ well? are you going to put your hands on here or what? i don’t have all day, you know. ”

* TINKA

“for a lamp,” tinka explained, “y’know, for iri? i thought i told you, but guess not. anyways, i’m going to completely rewire it to make it a little more efficient, and then i’m going to paint it. after that ──” she cut herself off, reaching on her tippy toes to grab at something. “perfect!” she exclaimed, showing it to her friend. “you like it? the little details are so unique. i think we found our winner!” 

IT WAS completely possible that tinka had told vidia exactly what she was looking for. vidia didn’t keep hold of things that weren’t all that important to her. something her friends told her she should work on. as soon as tinka found it, vidia merely shrugged her offer to help away. tinka could somehow magically do it all. “ i mean, it’s a lamp for sure. goldish and everything. ” vidia was no interior designer.

* GILL

Confused, Gill turned around as she walked past him and glanced around his apartment. “Why would I just have boxes lying around?” he asked, following behind her while still looking around. Sure, it was a little messy, but he didn’t really have much free time to go around cleaning up. “Besides, don’t you have any manners? You can’t just come into someone’s place and force them to clean.” 

“ TO MOVE stuff? perhaps you keep some recycling around? ” just being around so much clutter was sending chills down vidia’s spine. perhaps she was a tad bit dramatic, but she felt it was warranted. “ hey, if anything, i’m doing you a favor. as a host, aren’t you supposed to keep things looking at least a little decent for guests? ”

* TINKA 

vidia and tink were more alike than they cared to admit. however, most of their likeness had to do with stubbornness, determination, and tunnel vision. that really left not a lot of room for compromise. in fact, as far as tinka would go was the ‘we did what you wanted last time’ mentality when it came to vidia. “just until i find what i’m looking for,” tinka replied while she eyed the shelves. “well, we could go for bingo and see a matinee if you’d rather,” she teased, turning towards the girl. 

VIDIA COULDN’T even recall the last time she’d sat through a tabletop game, much less an entire movie. she rolled her eyes as she walked next to tinka, refusing to fall behind. she would rather die than look like anyone’s follower. “ OKAY, well what are you looking for? i bet i could find it. ” there was nothing vidia loved more than being the successful one, especially next to tinka. but she had a good eye and knew she could do it.

* FAWN 

“Oh, right, the dogs,” they remembered, a smile breaking across their face, putting the rambling (that could have continued for a much, much longer time) on hold. Already turning on her heel, she glanced back at Vidia over her shoulder. “I let them out to play. They’re feeling pretty energetic today.” She pulled open the door to the fenced in backyard, whistling for the foster pups to come running back in. “Brace yourself for some slobbery kisses.”

AS SOON as fawn began walking forward, vidia knew she was in for a treat. she was always looking for an addition to her fast-paced lifestyle, and a running buddy seemed perfect. none of her friends could keep up with her speed, so a dog seemed like the next best thing. “ these dogs are just about the only things i’ll accept slobbery kisses from, ” she joked, kneeling down to welcome the swarm of dogs that was coming her way.

* ZARINA 

a year had gone by since the girl had left the group and at the time she knew it was for the best and that they wouldn’t of supported what she did to the lab, accident or not. writing her next experiment in her journal, she carefully wrote down the steps and the supplies she needed before she heard someone behind her. the girl flinched when she heard who it was. “vidia,” she spoke without turning around, “you’re awfully too quiet, didn’t even know you were coming. kinda like a prius, maybe i should get a bell for you.” the auburn haired girl slammed her book shut and spun around to face her. “don’t mind my confusion, just wondering why your owner let you off your leash. someone should really tell tinka to keep an eye on you.”

NOTHING ZARINA could say would hold any weight with vidia. she knew that after this conversation she could still go home and rest easy. “ you’re one to talk. did father hook finally let you off the ship after you completed all your chores? just don’t forget to get back before curfew. ” vidia was nobody’s sidekick, but that’s all the other seemed to be known for these days. “ you’re getting awfully pale, so it seems like he let you out just in time. unless you’re trying to perfect the three days into the flu look, in which case you’ve totally nailed it. ” it was sad, really. vidia still had memories of when zarina was full of more excitement filled passion than hate. she was just glad all ties were cut so she didn’t go sinking with her.

* MICHAEL 

Michael froze for a second at the other’s statement, frown covering his face before shaking it away. He was on a mission, and her snarkiness wasn’t going to set him off. “Actually, neither, sorry. But… I was just wondering, you don’t have to say yes at all,” he began, crossing his arms in front of him. “I need you to help me with something.” 

THE LAST thing vidia was known for was her helpfulness. if anything, she was the exact opposite of that. “ you want my HELP? you must really not know me. ” she didn’t help her own friends, much less friends of a friend. but truthfully, they didn’t really know each other. “ what the hell could you even need from me? ”

* HIRO 

    —- hiro looked at vidia, grabbed one of the pastries with a pastry paper and held it out to her. “right on. oh, and the pastry is compliments of the lucky cat cafe,” he replied, giving a smile.

IF VIDIA knew anything about the boy and his group of friends it was that they spent too much time with their heads in books. for all she knew, this was some crazy, genetically processed food. “ i don’t want it. ”
