Harlowe from Borderlands 4
Digital City
pre-sequel did not establish early on what jack's purpose on helios was (observing pandora, nothing more) and then make it clear how he was doing bunch of other shit that was not observing pandora, for people to blame the game's writing for supporting "jack was always the hero, it's everyone else's fault he turned that way".
it did not. the writing is pretty in your face about all the ulterior motives jack has (from the major "building a weapon of mass destruction pointed at pandora" to the minor "changed the company colors from red and black to yellow"), and the mask itself is the most obvious symbolism there could possibly be, like..... c'mon.
jack was always jack, it was just a matter of how well he was hiding it.
Loveless the Hacker
The ex-Anshin hacker-turned-assassin shares her mind with a digital virus of her own creation that digistructs into a physical form to enact her deadly will.
maybe weird and idk if i'm gonna do a good job at explaining this, but out of the mainline games, bl1 feels like the only one that was interested in telling a long running story that delivers on its promises in due time.
like. after the main story, two of the last dlcs were used to move pandora's story forward; first by kicking atlas to the kerb, second by hyperion taking over and establishing their presence on pandora, which not only picks up from the satellite tease, but in that regard also sets up expectations for bl2, which follows it up.
yet bl2 fails to do the same for bl3 during its original run. like beyond teasing multiple planets (which bl3 delivers on), there's very little else. not even a slightest hints of "hey, how do we decipher this map?" or anything like that. sure, the last dlc has a background plot that eventually promises blowing up helios, but that doesn't go anywhere either.
and it's not that the other games aren't focusing on setting things up or teasing things, it's just... more disjointed. and also taking its sweet time lol and bl1 just did it so well that i'm just. what happened here.
maliwan vs jakobs in bl3 would have been great, actually.
maliwan's sleekness and high-tech, all elemental weapons vs jakobs' western, old-school with barely any elemental weapons, with maliwan coming to eden-6 to "modernize" the moon or something.
themes of family and legacy, neatly tied together... augh.
Played the DLC with friend, I love C4SH`s design too much, had to doodle.

my favourite past time in the dlc is hunting ghost pickle down and seeing what mischief he's up to.
even though it's been over ten years, i'm still a bit sad that we didn't get to blow up helios in bl2, as kinda promised at the end of assault on dragon keep. like, nothing against tales or the fight for sanctuary, but "let's blow up the space station" as the final, surprise dlc that leads to bl3 would have been a neat way to tie up the hyperion era of borderlands. especially since it would have have to take place after the present day scenes of tps, so it could have been a direct follow up of that with athena and aurelia around, too.
but mostly i just wanted to blow up helios with the sanctuary gang.
— C4SH The Rogue
according to the character selection screen vex is a street rat from cretia where she grew up alone, but in game she talks about eavesdropping on her mom's echo calls and possibly calling her dad (mercenary day dlc) so like
is my english failing me here, or which one is it.
