 Pearl offered an eager nod in response. “That’s right! You’re doing great so far. Keep it up!” Clearly proud of Marina and her own teaching skills, the girl continued. “Okay, you’ve got the first two letters for this word which are both repeated twice! So you started out with seven letter and now all you have to remember is the final three and where they go. Do you think you can remember the rest on your own?” 

𒈞𒍦 Marina nodded slowly. She was intently scanning her eyes over the notes and what she was in the process of writing down. She hesitantly pressed the tip of her pencil against the paper, and sketched out what she believed the rest of the word was.

⊰༺༻⊱⋙ “In..”                 “Inkling?”

 “Ding! Ding! We have a winner!” The pink squid raised her arms up in a delighted cheer and small laugh before returning to her space, leaning over Marina’s work. “We’ll work out your prize later- Anyway, you got that right! Soooo- …can you write the letter ‘I’ for me?” A slim finger pointed to her handwriting of the Inkish letter.

 “One other letter of your name is in this word too. If you can remember which one, write that down right after the ‘I’ and you’ve got the beginning of this word!”

𒈞𒍦 Marina briefly showed a soft smile when Pearl informed her that she was correct. She got it right? Nice!! She reached over to the pencil just adjacent to the paper, and quickly sketched down the letter i in inkish.

             She glanced back over at her own name in Inkish, and another copy of her name in Octarian she was using for comparison. The next letter in her name after i was... n?

⊰༺༻⊱⋙ “The...”                 “Letter n?”

 Noticing the brief hue of pale green cover dark cheeks, Pearl smiled inwardly. Without even knowing it, the octoling always managed to look adorable. It was a quality she was a tad jealous of yet admired as well. 

 Blinking, she returned to the task at hand and leapt from her seat to lean over Marina’s. Golden hues scanned over each word. Most were still relatively simple and ones the girl picked out assuming Marina would remember the characters easily this way. Such as: Kettle, Music, Tentacles, etc. She pointed to one word- Inkling.

 “Okay here’s your clues for this word!” She took a pencil and spelled the first letter in Inkish under the Octarian text. “You’ve spelt your own name before so try to remember the one character repeated twice here and you’re half way there!”

𒈞𒍦 She looked up to where Pearl was sketching the Inkish script, and compared the letters to what she wrote down- her own name in Inkish. The letter I? The letter I was repeated twice in Inkling, so was that what she was asking?

             Or was it a different one...

 “Your tentas are getting kinda long, huh?” Having grown a bit bored of the inkish lesson she was teaching, Pearl let the words slip from private thoughts as golden hues curiously scanned over her friend’s beautiful tentacles. “Growing ‘em out? It’s cute.” The octoling appeared stumped on something. Since Pearl handed her a small quiz concerning current vocabulary words, Marina hadn’t spoken at all. A sigh passed thin lips as she gently laid a cheek against the wood of the table and continued to stare at the girl across from her.

 “Do you want any clues?”

𒈞𒍦 Marina blinked inquisitively down at the slip of paper Pearl had handed to her. She was having a small bit of trouble with translating some words from Octarian to Inkling, but she was sure Pearl would help her.

            She wanted to try to get it on her own first.

           The comment about her tentacles caused her cheeks to flush to a light green for a few moments. She never really had the chance to grow them out while she was trying to reach the surface, because long tentacles just got in the way, but... she would be able to try it out now.

            Maybe she’d like having long tentacles.

⊰༺༻⊱⋙ “Clues. That would...”

                  “Would help..”

` Uh… `

She said, eyeing up the menu with squinted eyes due to their incredibly poor sight, they didn’t want to really waste the others money so they just picked out something cheap which sounded nice.

` Can I get a  Mark-Shaker Cocoa? If that’s not too much to ask. `

Then they turned away, rubbing one of their ears to calm them down.

` That’ll be all, thanks. `

𒈞𒍦 She frowned slightly, then turned back towards the agent. She lightly scratched the side of her head, then sighed.

⊰༺༻⊱⋙ “You don’t have to scrounge the prices just because                  I’m paying. You can get whatever you want.”

                “Go ahead and order something else, if you want to?”

She was the listening sure, but the last statement or well… offer, had taken her back although it didn’t show on her blank, seemingly absent expression.

Sure, she had locked up emotions and by far the most deadpan voice but yet, she was warming up to this octoling already, they seemed nice enough.

` Uh… sure, why not? I guess I have time to kill. `

Although the slight blush of green speckled her cheeks, she was flattered, really.

𒈞𒍦 Marina nodded happily, and beckoned the agent to follow after her as she made her way towards the Crust Bucket. Inkopolis square wasn’t all that active right now. A majority of the people were out having turf wars and, for some reason, going into the metro... so there was no line at the crust bucket.

             As they drew close to the food truck, Crusty Sean popped into the view of the window and greeted them, and gave the usual spiel about tickets for increased cash and experience gains. Marina explain that they’re here just to get a bite to eat- they weren’t looking for any boosts. 

⊰༺༻⊱⋙ “I’ll have a Super Seanwich with a Main-Saver lemon drink.”

𒈞𒍦 Marina glanced towards agent 3, signifying that it was their turn to order. There was a convenient menu to the side of the window, should they forget what they wanted.

𒈞𒍦 It wasn’t any shock to her that Pearl would be so brave- but it was definitely shocking just how far she went with it!

It was hard to tell is that was sarcasm or just a neutral tone.

`- But I can see your point.`

She exhaled softly, rubbing her cheek softly in almost embarrassment. It was weird for someone to persist that Inkopolis was safe, after all, you never did know what couldn’t be lurking.

𒈞𒍦 Everyone did a pretty good job of making sure that the city was fun, safe, and welcoming. Grizz was in charge of keeping the salmonoids away, their agents were basically their task force for more covert operations, which this agent obviously knew, but it was all additive towards making sure that, well... people could safely live here.

⊰༺༻⊱⋙ “Oh yeah, certainly. There’s always a bunch of surprise to                  be had! Any problems that do show up usually don’t last                  for long, though.”                   “It’s not like you’re defenseless, either. You’re an agent.”

⊰༺༻⊱⋙ “I feel like we’re getting into some stressful subjects.”
