             ---- It all happened so fast, and right now the only thing he could register was how badly his body hurt.  It ached, and screamed --- it shouldn’t hurt this bad, right?  No, nothing should hurt this bad...  even the times he’d managed to get his ass kicked, the times he’d eaten dirt and even the times he’d been kicked in the ribs.  None of that could be compared to this--

           The smell of blood and burnt flesh hung in the air lightly as the rain washed most of it away now, deep shade of crimson pooled around where he laid, and the feeling of someone there with him brought him back to that painful reality.

                          what happened...?

  He tried to remember, head ringing, visible eye narrowed as pain ran through him like wildfire.  Like his bones were coals and it was searing every inch of his insides, but he felt in his gut there was something wrong the more he began to come to.  

          “What... Happened?” his words are quiet to his own surprise.  He hadn’t intended to sound so weak and distant.  But he remembers bits and pieces of the moments before the aftermath.  The feeling of raindrops -- cool and refreshing, as if they were putting out that fire that ran through him -- pelted against his face and soaked into his clothes.  It was light for now... but the grey sky with thick clouds warned it would grow heavier. 

                     Neo...  Neo... Where was Neo?  Beside him.  That’s right, she was the one there with him right now.  So she was safe.  She was safe because he protected her --

                           “I can’t move.. It hurts too bad.” there’s panic in his voice, albeit muted.  He seemed oblivious to his mangled and scorched arm for the moment, oblivious to the worrying amount of blood that had begun to pool.  But the smell of iron did not elude him.  His instincts screamed he was in danger, he needed to move.

                                  “Neo?  Neo, Are you okay?”
