I'm so tired

working with my local queer activist organization in a week with a lot of drinking and events in my home town and my god the homophobia/transphobia has never been this fucking bad. we got spat on and called slurs non stop tonight, and 2 dudes tried to bum rush the stage and grab our butch performer (shoutout to the guys who tackled them). it's getting to a point where i lowkey feel unsafe without security, i trust the people around me to intervene and look out for each other like they did tonight, but god i miss feeling safe in my 2nd home. i love all the people there so much and it fucked me up seeing everyone getting spit on and yelled slurs at tonight. and obviously I've been out in queer spaces for a decade, I've seen plenty of homophobia before, but tonight it was just a CONSTANT onslaught. we had to move indoors and then it followed us indoors and we had to get the police involved...... it's never been physically violent like it was tonight. I'm tired I guess I need to learn how to fight.. at least it would be nice to be less scared of getting punched so i can intervene if someone more vulnerable than me is in danger. but I'm just so tired. i don't think the power of light entertainment is gonna fix this
