Classpects of Les Mis characters
I feel I will go insane trying to elaborate as I did for Valjean and Javert in the other post, so I’m just listing out the classpects and with a short description
Blood as in connection and relationships, promises and obligation
Invites the redistribution of relationships for the benefit of others
Doom as synonymous with judgement, rules, inevitability, and futility of change
Serves this Aspect by wielding it against others and maximising its capacity
Rage as disillusionment and anger towards injustice, a shattering of hopes and dreams
Her agency is often taken away as she worked to the benefit of others, pushed around
She later was able to create Rage within herself, though unfortunately she didn’t get to fully embrace its full potential before she died
Light as in focus, fortune, and knowledge
Wants to be seen, to be given Light, but she is forced to be hidden and obscured, quieted and alone, literally “left in the dark”
Is a bit of a meddler when she has the opportunity to, wants to use the information that she has to heal and help (but is often unable to in the story)
The Bishop: Mage of Space
Deep understanding of the world and how it works, though he mostly observes and does not attempt to interfere it
Linked with creation and beginnings, his presence is what kickstarts Valjean’s redemption (and the rest of the story)
Also I think he can use his space powers to teleport and make the candlesticks reappear
Thenardier: Thief of Life
Life as in life, wealth, and prosperity
His greed quite literally leading to Fantine’s death as she plunges further into poverty and her health deteriorates
I hesitate to give him the Light aspect because Light is associated with relevance and in the story he’s just not that much relevant, and he lacks the long-term tactical instincts that light players have, to me he’s more opportunistic
Hope as conviction, belief, and faith in a better future
I will be honest part of my choice is the irony because he does seem kind of “Princely” in appearance but Prince is a destroyer class
Destroys using Hope (basically the whole June uprising)
Heart as the self, love, and relationships
He invites change through all of the above
In a way, “inherits” Cosette’s heart (and Eponine’s, though he does not reciprocate)
Breath as in freedom, individuality, and flexibility
Helps fighting for freedom by embodying it (eg when he dies he renews the ABCs motivation to fight on)
Able to see that which is hidden and obscured, often pries into other’s lives
Her seer powers is what allowed her to find where Valjean and Cosette lived
Mind as in choices, rationality, and understanding of consequences
Allows the Aspect to be destroyed within him (ie. Doesn’t believe his or anyone’s choices matter, tendency towards cynicism and irony)
Also in a literal way numbs his mind using alcohol (such that he is incapable of rationality)
I tried my best to give everyone fitting Aspects that also parallel each other well
Enjolras-Javert-Fantine-Thenardier on the Hope-Doom-Rage-Life quartet -> different responses to societal injustice
Grantaire-Eponine-Marius-Cosette similarly about love and devotion, maybe?
Enjoltaire and Valvert as neighboring aspects hehe
