Recruitment | The Silver Table Accords
[Posted throughout Ishgard] Fellow Ishgardians,
While the world turns its attention to Doma and Ala Mhigo, times remain somewhat strenuous in our homeland. Our transition from a Theocracy led by lies and fabrications to a Republic built on trust and cooperation was thankfully, for the most part, smooth. But weâre not done yet. Our home stands on pillars built by dishonest hands that elevate our nobility to unreasonable heights over our common citizenâmy own House Argent included. The Brume remains a hearthless home for too many of our fellow citizens. Injustices are still allowed to fester. And I know that Iâm not the only one of Ishgardian blood that feels this way.
This is a call to any who have been frustrated with the snailâs pace of our government. While the House of Lords and House of Commons fight to find a middle ground upon which both nobility and common folk can standâletâs work to actually build one. Iâd like to meet with like minded individuals, young, old, noble, and common to discuss what we can start to do for our people now. No more waiting. We have the means to do more. So letâs do it.
Signed, Ser Gemini Edmond dâArgent.
âWe do not bend.â ============================================================== OOC: Just as the above said, Iâd like to find Ishgardians who are of a similar mindset to Gemini that want to take part in meet-ups and (at least quarterly) events surrounding the betterment of Ishgard for its people. This is not a political groupâpurely idealists, led by House Argent, with assets and resources that can be expended on making Ishgard a better place. For example, Gemini has been spending his days giving kindling, furs, and food to the people of the Brume. Heâs been trying to organize efforts to begin construction of temporary housing there, but needs more people on his side for it. Our characters would meet and discuss ways to do these things and more in Ishgard and, once weâve organized IC groups who would like to cooperate, could host events to execute them. FC membership is NOT a requirement (though Iâd like to at least get folks into a linkshell for easy OOC and IC communication), however Ishgardian citizenship would be necessary for your characterâs involvement in the core group. If youâre interested please let me know either here or in game on Balmung! My characterâs name in game is Gemini Argent. Thanks for your time!
You know Iâm with you.

VILETTE LAURENT
She was about my height, maybe a bit taller; features, save for her night-black hair, hidden beneath a steel-mesh helm.
I wore one too, and its cotton padding reeked of someone else. Thankfully, it filtered out the racket around us; muffling it into distant echoes and chants.
âCome on! Kick her arse!â
Entry #8: Beneath Shadows
@sea-wolf-coast-to-coast | FFXIV 30 day Writing Challenge | PROMPT #8: Shadows
VILETTE LAURENT
Thirteen shadows spun across the sky like dancers, twirling and whirling through the snow-spotted wind, closer to the sun than those who watched below.
Than me.
I watched them beneath the shade of my palm, entranced by their aerial waltz in the cerulean sky. From here, it was hard to remember that they were mortal, and not sun-touched angels, sent by Halone to protect us, courageous and free.
âDragoons, huh?â Cedrique scoffed with his mouth full. âFlashy cunts.â
HELLO. I did some art for a friend @https://vilette-laurent.tumblr.com/ ! This is her character Vilette Laurent from FFXIV. Knight Commander of the Ironclaws! Sheâs a swords lady and super cool. She is dating Oliver Delvants, my dorky dragoon. Been a while since I finished a piece!
The Chivalric and Noble Art of the Two-Handed Sword in Unarmoured Fighting; Most Thoroughly Explained and Described in Common Eorzean by Ser Vilette Laurent of Falconâs Nest; Accompanied by Many Handsome and Useful Illustrations.
OOC NOTES/COMMENTARY:
The link above is an in-character book written by my RP character over the past few months. Itâs a martial arts treatise, much in the vein of Medieval European and Far Eastern manuals.
I had a lot of fun writing this; and it was definitely inspired by a run of the Great Gubal Library dungeon, where I spent most of the time not tanking, and just reading the lore nodes (100000 apologies to my guildies).
The run had me thinking on in-lore literature a bit, and I decided to, as a side project (aka. whenever Iâm drunk enough), try my hand at writing something my character would feasibly write about; in some over-the-top experiment on indirect world-building.
The greatest challenge was preserving the look and feel of an old-timey treatise, while making it feel Final Fantasy-y and be easily understood by other Roleplayers in the community.
The next one will deal with fighting magical creatures and casters; something that wasnât touched in this one because itâs supposed to be for beginners.
Much of the textâs contents were partially based off of the works of Sigmund Ringeck and probablynot!Peter von Danzig (which you can read here and here); adapted to the setting and my characterâs personality.
The writing style is an homage to George Silverâs works; and I tried hard to slip in his style of stream-of-consciousness rants into my characterâs writing.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you enjoy it!
Breaking my âin-character posts onlyâ rule to share this piece of surprise artwork from @songstresswendyâ! She does insanely good artwork, and Iâm proud to receive this gift. Please check out her Deviantart here.
Also, I might as well start answering memes/other OOC stuff on this tumblr now, so tag me away; and feel free to use the âaskâ function tucked away in the menu in the top left corner!
RISE, A KNIGHT - III
âBold, admitting that you struck your liege.â
Across the table, Inquisitor Durand weaved his fingers together, bony arms propped upon his seatâs rests. Vilette huffed, rolling her eyes upwards to look at her interrogator.
âNot my liege,â She replied, straightening her back.
âYour better, still.â
Vilette folded her arms; and in the silence, cast the man an icy stare. She didnât usually question the capitalâs rhetoric, let alone their talk of noble blood and status; but this statement, for some reason, had left her frigid. She made no effort to hide it, what with her narrowed eyes, and clenched jaw.
Durand smiled.Â
âI jest,â he added, leaning forward. âWhat stopped you from leaving him behind?â
âWhoâd trust the word of a lowborn mutt?â Vilette shifted in her seat. âIâm no deserter. I needed him to attest to that.â
âAnd whoâd trust the word of a man accused of heresy?â
âMy better, still.â Vilette replied stiffly.
Silence followed the girlâs reply, as the pair stared one another down; Durandâs grin melting away.
âBe that as it may,â the Inquisitor started, âyou are a suspected accomplice to his plot -- and have no evidence towards the contrary.â
âIf I had known I were stuck between dragonfire and Witchdrop, Iâd have let the dragon kill us both.â Vilette fidgeted in her seat, dropping her shoulders.
âYou didnât know?â
âHe told me. Later.â
RISE, A KNIGHT - II
âRanger,â
Vilette winced as a scorched and battered rosary was dropped upon the table before her.Â
What had once been three spears was now a twisted chunk of ashen silver.
She peered at it reluctantly, jaw clenching as her eyes traced over the warped, Halonic symbol. Absent-mindedly, she reached for the identical piece on her neck, tracing its shape with her fingers.
âDragonslayer,â
A resounding clunk snapped Vilette from her trance. Her gaze was torn from the rosary, drawn towards the sheathed sword that was dropped beside it. Her sword.
The Inquisitor rounded the table, gracefully pulling out a chair from the opposite side of the table, perching himself upon it. Calmly, he motioned with both hands towards Vilette.
âMongrel.â
Vilette remained silent. She glanced upwards at the white-haired elezen, eyes narrowing as she reached for the rosary.
âQuite the odd combination of titles, no?â The Inquisitor mused, leaning back in his seat with folded arms; his sharp features twisted into a knowing smirk.
â... Itâs a long story.â Vilette mumbled, pocketing the necklace.
âAnd one thatâs hard to believe.â The elezen crossed a leg over his lap.
Vilette shrugged. âMy apologies, milord.â
âPlease,â he rested a wrist upon the table, motioning at Vilette again -- as if to give her permission. âDurand.â
Vilette grunted in response. She let her head hang for a moment, before glancing over her shoulder at the iron door behind her.
âIâm surprised,â started Durand. âOthers in your position tend to be quite vocal about their innocence.â
He smiled that typical Church-serving smile; hollow and cold.
âYouâve locked the door already. Why bother?â Vilette muttered.
Durand snorted. âFrontier fatalism at its finest.â
Vilette furrowed her brows. âWhat do you want?â
âThe true story, of course.â
âYouâve already heard it.â Vilette looked to her sword. âI killed a dragon. The end.â
âAnd after?â
RISE, A KNIGHT - I
The high winds howled, and the trees shuddered in the biting chill.Â
Vilette felt inclined to do the same.Â
Her teeth clattered as she reached for her collar, gripping tightly on the ends of her cloak.
A meaningless gesture -- for her fatherâs brooch kept the cloak fastened against the winds. However, the girl found some homely comfort in the woolâs cozy grain. She continued to trudge after the group, snow crunching beneath her soles.
âA blizzard comes!â
Vilette pulled her gaze from the trail to the source of the call. Was that Rosanne? She could scarcely tell, what with the whine of the wind, and the helm on her head.
âWe should turn back for camp!â Rosanne advised, turning to face the others.
Vilette looked rightwards at Lord Leclerc, sitting tall atop his pale-white warbird; his long, red cloak fluttering in the building wind.
He looked unfazed, doubtlessly warm beneath his polished plate and wolf-pelt trims.
âBecause of a little wind?â Leclerc grunted. âNo.â
The noble rode forward, brushing his mount against Rosanne in a display of contempt. Two of his knights followed obediently.
âTypical.â Rosanne muttered as Vilette finally caught up. âI suppose the capitol just rots your brain.â
Vilette stopped to catch her breath, bringing up her visor as she peered up at her Wildwood friend.
âWell, we canât leave them.â Vilette mumbled. She looked to the knights, their cloaks flecked with snow, shields bearing the scorched sigil of Leclerc.
âNo, Muttons,â Rosanne sighed, turning to look at the Lord and his retinue. âWe cannot.â
