ATTENTION
The US government just killed Lezmond Mitchell, a Native American man.
It is against the law for the US Government to order the death of a tribal citizen without the approval of the corresponding sovereign Nation's approval. The Navajo Nation (to whom Mitchell belongs) actively campaigned against his execution. This is the first execution of a Native American by the occupying US government in modern times.
This is a Big Fucking Deal.
I was home alone yesterday and a bit sad/anxious so I did what any logical nb would do and went clowning! Went full pride for this one xoD

so good news, it turns out writerâs block isnât a physical object that manifests in your home. bad news, i still have no idea what this thing is, where it came from, or why itâs making that noise
some Frankenstein of a shirt with miss-matched fabrics sewn together, decorative sewing, and the words âTOP ASSâ on the top. not even the consignment store owner lady knew what it meant
obviously I bought it and made it into a bag

I work in a kitchen. We are always told to not just stand around, thatâs rule number one. Even if somethingâs on the stove, usually you can do something else while you wait for it.
EXCEPT
If itâs milk. âYou stand right there and watch over it, do NOT leave.â
Whatâs even better is if youâre forced to leave because you need something from the fridge or something. So you dash into the back and get it and if someone wants to ask you something you just go âMILK! ON THE STOVE!â and everyone jumps out of your way and goes âoh shit, run!!!â
Itâs the funniest thing Iâve ever encountered at work
In French we literally have an old saying, âI have milk on the fireâ to say âIâm very busy at the momentâÂ

Hey fuck those people who think herbal remedies will solve a pandemic, and handwashing is important... but isn't it right that antibacterial stuff(hand sanitizer and specific wipes) won't prevent a virus(such as covid-19) from spreading because they're not... bacteria? viruses and bacteria are separate things, yes? Viruses aren't alive, yes?
Alcohol, bleach, etc kill some bacteria and viruses by destroying their physical structures. They are disinfectants, not âantibioticsâ in the way that penicillin or bacitracin are antibiotics. Delicate viruses, like coronaviruses, are physically destroyed with relative ease by damaging the titular âcoronaâ. Viruses like norovirus are not affected by hand sanitizer because their physical structure is hardier and more difficult to penetrate. They are not affected by antibiotics at all.
I guess one way to think of it is that bacteria can be murdered, and they can be destroyedâviruses can only be destroyed.
Was really getting it until that last line which has me confused again.
Bacteria are living organisms. Theyâre weird little dudes, but theyâre alive, they metabolize things, they are cells, and they can be murdered with poison that kills them (antibiotics) or by shredding them into pieces.
Viruses arenât alive. Theyâre bizarre little clumps of genetic material and protein that donât really⌠do anything except turn living cells into virus replication factories and then make them explode. They canât be poisoned, but you can break them apart physically.
Sometimes viruses can be combated with antiviralsâunlike antibiotics, antivirals donât actually kill/destroy viruses themselves, but makes it harder for them to turn cells into exploding replication factories.
Viruses are more like machines than living things. You can either break them, or make their task harder or impossible, but you canât kill them.
Thereâs a theory that viruses started as intra-cell messenger systems which ran wild. So youâre sick with the cellular equivalent of a postman knocking on your door, shouting at you in ancient greek until you die of confusion, then using your house to make more postmen.
#its not a perfect analogy
au contraire, as someone regularly menaced by hordes of Grecian postmen attempting to replicate themselves inside my home, I find this a simple, relevant, and relatable analogy
In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, all playable characters (Mario, Peach and Bowser) can use partner abilities; the game merely does not load partners when Peach or Bowser are active. If the game is modified to load Bowser into one of the rooms Mario can explore, we can see that riding Yoshi as Bowser exhibits some unintended behaviors.
If Bowser rides Yoshi through a room transition, Yoshiâs speed will greatly increase, being much faster than he can run while carrying Mario. The speed will return to normal in the next room, then increase again in the one after, etc.
