Superman x Reader x Lex Luthor [Chapter 2 Snippet.]
The soft light of early morning spilt through the half-open blinds of Y/N's apartment, casting long shadows across the kitchen table. She sat curled in her chair, cradling a warm mug of tea, scrolling absently through the morning headlines on her phone. A photo caught her eye Superman and Lois Lane, arms linked, smiling for the cameras at a recent gala that Clark had told her all about. The caption read: "Power Couple of Metropolis: Superman and Lois Lane Steal the Spotlight."
Y/N's fingers tightened around the mug. A small ache stirred inside her chest, subtle but unmistakable. She looked away from the screen and sighed, letting the moment pass as she took a careful sip.
She knew it was an arranged front between the two, but it never failed to set her stomach off.
Clark's footsteps echoed softly in the hallway before he appeared at the doorframe, his expression guarded but weary. He pushed the door open and stepped inside without waiting for an invitation.
"You look tired," Y/N said quietly, setting her mug down.
Clark shrugged, running a hand through his hair. "Long night. The usual."
Y/N studied him for a moment, the familiar tension behind his smile making her heart clench. "You don't have to pretend with me."
He hesitated, then settled onto the couch, staring at the floor. "It's complicated. Lois and I we are playing a part for the city. For the world. But it's not real. Not anymore."
Y/N nodded slowly, biting her lip. "I know. But it's still hard to see you both together."
Clark's jaw tightened slightly, his eyes flickering with a mix of frustration and vulnerability. "The people need to believe in the symbol, in stability. Lois and I agreed to this because it protects what little privacy I have left."
He glanced up, meeting Y/N's gaze with a flicker of something raw beneath the surface. "And I hate that it's causing this distance between us."
"I hate that you refuse to lie... yet" She left Clark to interpret for himself what she was getting at.
"I hate it, but I'm doing this for you."
"Yet we aren't dating?" Y/n spoke, getting a bit upset the further the conversation went.
He looked back at Y/N, his voice softer, more vulnerable. "I want more with you, Y/N. More than this... complicated, secretive thing we have. But I can't risk dragging you into the spotlight the way it is now."
Y/N's eyes narrowed, frustration bubbling beneath her calm exterior. "So what am I supposed to do? Sit on the sidelines while you're out there playing house with Lois? Pretend it's just part of the act?"
Clark's jaw clenched, and he stood, pacing the room. "It's not like that. You're not on the sidelines to me. You're-" He stopped himself, exhaling harshly. "It's just complicated. And I don't want to lose you before we even have a chance."
She watched him struggle, the weight of his secret life pressing down between them like a storm cloud. "Maybe that's the problem, Clark. That 'complicated' is starting to feel like an excuse."
Across the city, in a large, open-spaced office building that stood tall. Manufactured, pristine and clean cut. In the centre of a gigantic open floor, there stood a large wooden desk, and there sat a man with piercing blue eyes that were fixated on his computer.
He was looking back over his collection of files and images relentlessly. The man began typing into his computer, grabbing all the files for analysis. As he sat there waiting for his programme to finish analysing the data, a pop-up showed up on his screen.
He prayed that it was something useful. Perhaps new information, and he was pleasantly surprised.
'recurring identity detected'
Clicking in on the pop-up, he saw the newspaper clippings with images of Superman and Lois on multiple occasions, with one new face almost persistently in the crowd nearby.
Lex's sharp eyes narrowed as he studied the photographs. The woman had a quiet strength about her. The way she held herself, the calm certainty in her gaze. Her hair fell just so, catching the light in a way that softened Superman's expression. In one particularly striking photo, taken during a city event, Y/N's smile was tentative but genuine, and Superman's protective stance was unmistakable.
It was an action shot of the woman pulling an injured Superman out of the way of being attacked.
It was the photo that dated back the farthest.
'Stupidity came with that type of strength of heart.' lex thought to himself rolling his eyes at the woman.
His lips curled into a slow and deliberate smile. He didn't know her name. Only that she was near the man the world practically worshipped. More than that, she seemed to have a grasp on him.

Superman x Reader x Lex Luthor [Chapter 7 -Sneek Peek.]
She could never get over how different those cursed glasses made him look. Sometimes she felt guilty finding him attractive with the glasses on, knowing they deliberately distorted his face.
She watched him stumble out the door and waved a small goodbye to him. Krypto barked behind her, wagging his tail at Y/n.
Her eyes averted over to the bottle of amber whiskey left on the table. She shoved it in her alcohol cabinet, closing it as though not seeing it would help change something, prove something.
Krypto pulled her out of her daze by tugging gently on her pant leg towards the sofa. Y/n obliged, following the white fluffy dog. As soon as she had sat on the sofa, he plopped on top of her.
'Oof' she exclaimed with the weight of the alien dog on top of her.
Lex's words and Clarks unforeseen anger kept running through her mind. Y/n ran her hand along Krypto's back as his weight pinned her to the couch. She took a breath. Glaring at her glass coffee table the USB sat there encrypted.
She knew she wouldn't be able to contain herself. "I'll know the password when the time comes, my ass." She kept her eyes on the USB.
"Krypto, how does a walk sound?"

Superman x Reader x Lex Luthor (Intro to Chapter 1)
Y/n loved the feeling that she got from trying to help people.
That small surge of adrenaline she got on the two occasions she felt she could make a difference.
The first was the time she saved Superman, and the second she barely remembered.
Helping a particularly dorky-looking man with his briefcase he had dropped.
"I'm so sorry!" He exclaimed, scrambling for his items that had fallen to the floor. Y/n was the first and seemingly only person to kneel down and help him with his items. "Don't apologise." She piled up some papers, pens, and an apple, organising the papers as best as she could in the city streets of Metropolis. She looked up at the dark-haired man, handing him the papers.
Lifting his eyes to meet hers as he shoved the papers into his briefcase, he said, "Thank you so much." he couldn't tear his eyes away from the woman before him, he couldn't help himself.
The two gazed at one another only for Clark to jump out of his trance onto his feet, "I'm sorry, I'm Clark Kent by the way," He spoke, offering the woman his free hand to help her up. "Y/n L/n. It's a pleasure to meet you, Mr. Kent."
"You may call me Clark."
He was grateful for her kindness in such a large city of self-consumed people. To her, she had met a new potential friend, to Clark, He had found the one human that saved him.
Y/n smiled softly, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear as she accepted Clark's hand and stood upright. The busy sounds of Metropolis seemed to fade for a moment, as if the city itself paused to witness their meeting.
"I'm glad I could help," she smiled, her eyes meeting his steady gaze.
Clark nodded, feeling an unusual warmth settle in his chest. "You have a good heart. It's not often you find someone like you around here."
Before Y/n could respond, her phone buzzed sharply in her pocket, breaking the moment. She glanced at the screen. It was an alert from her work. She pulled her hand away from his. "I should get going, but... I hope this isn't the last time we see each other."
Clark smiled, tucking his hands into the pockets of his jacket. "Me too, Y/n." and he watched her leave. Lois Lane greeted Clark, walking past him into the Daily Planet.
Over the next few days, Clark found himself glancing toward the spots where he thought he might see Y/n again. And fate, it seemed, was willing to cooperate.
One rainy afternoon, as Clark stepped out of the Daily Planet building with his umbrella, he spotted her across the street, standing under a café awning, looking drenched but smiling as she held a stack of files close to her chest.
"Y/n!" Clark called out, cautiously crossing the street, gleaming with joy at having this chance to meet her again.
"Hey! How are you doing Mr Kent." She smiled secretly celebrating that she got to bump into the curly haired man once more.
He stood there in an awkward and nervous silence, trying to find the words.
He shrugged holding his umbrella out in front of him towards Y/n. "Looks like you could use this more than me."
She hesitated for a moment, "... Thank you, I suppose it's only reasonable for me to take your phone number, to return the umbrella of course, unless you have another persons' umbrella at your disposal." She composed nervously.
Picking up on the implication Clark shook his head, "No, i mean, i used to have someone elses umbrella, but I only have mine now."
She laughed finding his nervous scattered words adorable. "Maybe join me on my walk home?" She offered praying that he'd accompany her.
Clark hesitated for just a heartbeat before nodding, a shy smile tugging at the corner of his lips. "I'd like that."
