Sweet dreams are made of Porto in handsome bottles and a little peek of Lady Liberty's derrière. Scooped up this smooth and nutty number from the lovely ladies over at @corkscrewbrooklyn. via @vinosaurus_rex
Two of my favorite Gals. This Gál Tibor from Hungary is like biting into ripe apricot and with a spritz of citrus and a smooth finish. Thank you @corkscrewbrooklyn! via @vinosaurus_rex
Stocking up on supplies at @grapeshotnyc. The weekend is always just around the corner. via @vinosaurus_rex
Some light #balkan pop reading with some light and zesty Balkan 2013 Sauvignon Blanc from Pullus in Ptuj, Slovenia. Full of pomelo notes and great body. Much like the cover of Balkania Fanzine w/ Azis. (Those angel wings are the real deal). via @vinosaurus_rex
Getting some fortification for the freezing temperatures from some Bonal. Beautiful bottle + delicious #aperitif. Perfect pre-dinner drink. via @vinosaurus_rex
V is for Varal 2013 from Herdade do Monte da Ribeira. Grown in the Alentejano region of Portugal, this blend of #aragonez #trincadeira and #alfrocheiro is smooth with hints of blackberries and a dash of spice. Happy Varalentine's Day. via @vinosaurus_rex
#tbt Summer of 2009 with winemaker Pierre Vincent of Domaine de la Vougeraie. Here we're discussing the differences in the soil composition at Clos de Vougeot and why they decided to swap the plots of #chardonnay vines with the #pinotnoir vines, despite the narrow road that divided them. via @vinosaurus_rex
Thawing out before the snow and low temps arrive with fresh 2014 Moulin de Gassac Guilhem Rosé. Floral and racy minerality on the nose, currants and berries on the palate. via @vinosaurus_rex
Sunday night roast chicken exquisitely paired with 2010 Maison Roche de Bellene Premier Cru Bourgogne Blanc. via @vinosaurus_rex
Piližota Plavina 2010 - shout out to the middle child of Croatian wine varieties. Often overshadowed, Plavina is elegant, lively, and full of fresh fruit and good structure. Certainly worthy of some attention. via @vinosaurus_rex
Thinking back to a short trip in the hills of Cornas in Northern Rhône with my aunt. via @vinosaurus_rex
I think I found an answer to cougar juice in Il Tasso 2013 Pinot Grigio. Italian for the badger, Mellow and round from extended skin contact, but still a good amount of fruit and acid. via @vinosaurus_rex
This past New Year’s Eve I was introduced to a porrón for the first time. A funky, little glass pitcher that looks more like a bong than something for sharing wine, quickly became the party trick to master - at which I failed miserably. More than once. An ancient Spanish tradition, a porrón is designed for sharing wine easily among friends and family without the need for glasses. It takes a bit of practice, but can certainly be mastered (as seen here) and definitely worth a shot.
Taco nights and Red Newt Cellars 2013 Riesling play nice together. Green apple and honeysuckle, bright and tight on the palate. via @vinosaurus_rex
