OUR WINE CAPS HAVE ARRIVED + ARE FLUSHING FROM OUR GARDEN BEDS!! yay! oh what a delight to witness these easy to grow mushrooms just emerging from our garden yesterday! catching them at this stage is awesome because i legit love the button stage of mushrooms to snack and cook up! Wine Caps are sometimes called the #gardengiant because they get massive but harvesting at this stage of growth is lovely because you can sometimes avoid the slug or bug nibbles before they open their caps up and release their spores. IDing Wine Caps at this stage takes some time and skill so def make sure you know what your harvesting as most ID anatomical characteristics are still developing. we still have Wine Cap spawn available through or website or #etsy shop do give it a go! if you’re already growing a garden and using any amount of wood chips, cardboard or other organic, carbon rich mulch(just not dyed or chem treated) then go for it! Wine Caps are the easiest mushroom to grow and they return yearly and often if the Spring and Fall aren’t dry! here in the Northeast i still install these into June, especially if it’s a wet late Spring. Plants and Wine Caps go hand in hand!
