does anyone else get a little nervous about starting fics that don't have any tags? like putting aside potentially being triggered by something, they make me a little anxious. this fic im thinking about starting has only the main pairing and the associated characters tagged and im a little worried. it's almost 90k words but the synopsis looks interesting if a little vague. dunno maybe it's just me. i'm gonna read it though, and see what happens. i'll update this when i finish or dnf i guess?

You know, I was thinking about under pressure with the context that Buck and Eddie are the same age and my heart kinda broke a little for pre-grenade Eddie. He said during the confrontation at the gym that he's heard Buck is a great guy. So like, he tried to befriend him. Eddie was trying to be helpful. With the comment during the rescue and the tip about the lighting for the photos. He was trying to be helpful in his own way. Like, he saw this dude that was the same age as him and he kept hearing about what a great guy he is and he wanted to befriend him. He keeps trying to find something that worked. The beginning of every interaction that they have that was started by Eddie up until the "you can have my back any day" can be read as an attempt to create a bond. And the way Eddie is a single father and army vet and has been through so much already and he looks at this guy, who was probably described to him as a golden retriever, and thought maybe we can be friends but kept falling short and kept trying anyway is making me emotional. I keep thinking that maybe he thought Buck could help him see what it's like to be in your 20s without feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders. Because Buck was talking about body fat percentages and nicknames and he has a carefree energy to him that Eddie probably wanted to know how it feels like.
got my first tattoo the other day. on a definitely unrelated note im realising i have an addictive personality. i already know what i want my next tattoo to be and where i want it. i have ideas okay i'm so ready to spend money on this. however, i might need a better paying job, or to become best friends with a tattoo artist and offer myself up as a canvas for practice in a totally selfless way.
i'm to the point with buddie from 911 that if they just stop dating other people and become a sweet queerplatonic relationship (like they aren't already close enough) and just live with and support each other (again, so close) that i'll be happy. i don't need them to kiss anymore. i just want them to be partners who love each other deeply and don't need other people because they already have a fulfilling relationship with each other. is that so much to ask? i need more of buck and chris and eddie being a family and eddie realising that he already has what he needs.

i've never been a romantic, but i've been reading a bunch of soulmate au's recently to give myself a break from angst. some of these fics have got me feeling properly mushy inside. reading some of these is like eating too many gummy worms and feeling a little sick but your mouth tastes so full of sweet that it's worth it to eat a few more.
