Itâs a Pet Show in Hell
Caim had been preparing Tray for this day. Heâd been wanting to show off his special endangered shifter pet to all the demons in Hell at the annual competition since the day Nicolo brought him that snow cat. He finally owned his soul so Tray finally qualified for the games.Â
Tray found it all a bit demoralizing in itâs own way and didnât really want any part of it. But, once again Kasha stepped in for Caim and had a heart to heart with Tray and his inner cat and Tray found a new angle to see things and stopped resisting, at least stopped in any outright way that would push Caimâs buttons.Â
Before it all began the shifters themselves were held in simulated environments behind glass like at zoos. Demons and other infernal spirits and creatures could walk around and view the different breeds of pets, all very much alive beings, all brought to Hell by their owners, all with their souls contracted to their demon counter-parts.Â
Tray sat there in his snowy boxed environment watching all the interesting shaped people gawk and stare at him through the glass. At first that Bohemian bad boy with the Iâm too cool to care flavor could be noted in the way he lounged there, rolling on his back, tail swooshing. But, he sat up straight suddenly when he saw Belial and Baâal walk by. These demons he paid attention to. Baâal was not only his fatherâs coven lead, but Belial was the creator of vampires all together. Every single vampire who finally died all the way ended up his. He knew his family would be dealt with in Hell by these demons one way or another. So of course this pair caught his attention.Â
He just had no idea dealing with could mean more than punishment, or torture, or endless servitude. Or maybe that was why Baâal allowed Cordelia to be there? The deceased and damned vampire was brought along and escorted by 2 of the highest powers in Hell besides the devil himself to a pet show.Â
Cordelia was taken from her daily strife of burning Hellâs fire to go to a pet show? Surely the girl must have thought that was strange? But, at least if she was suffering then it was a break, change it up, right? Or maybe it was just another form of punishment?Â
She would be standing with her high powered escorts and waltzed right before her long lost fiance, but no way to get to him. Not with the glass. And certainly a lot of security around her if she were to try anything funny. But, maybe she wouldnât even recognize him? He rarely shifted during his relationship with Cordelia. Maybe seeing a snow leopard would merely remind her of Tray? Who knew? But, instilling mental damage and corrupting minds was a form of itâs own slow torture.Â
But, if she didnât recognize him there behind the glass, it would be coming soon enough. There would be a moment in the competition when pets were taken out and lead around the arena to show off form and power. But, their human forms would be shown off too. If she didnât recognize him yet, she would.Â
Tray also saw her. He saw his lost lover passing by him. Part of him wanted to run to the edge of the glass and gain her attention. But, the part that had been told so many lies from the moment of Nicoloâs appearance to so many more in Venice told him to let it go, to not move, to not let this break him. What could he really do anyhow right? He had no real power here. She was damned and dead and he would soon enough be taken back to earth where his very much alive body belonged waiting his turn to be shown off like Caim had prepared him too.Â
Belial was taking notes on the pets being presented. But, Baâal actually asked Cordelia âEnjoying the show so far?âÂ
âSantinoâs going to meet us at the half-time show. He sends his apologizes for being late.âÂ
Then there was Caim, the new Devil, and this triple decker of button pushers who was far off mingling with the others who were entered and just found out there was actually a second snow leopard entered in the show. He almost shit bricks really because Tray was such a rare find as it was. How could he win now if there was two? He had to think of something quick to gain a one up on the competition and his mind was on overdrive trying to come up with it on the spot.Â
