#AlbumADay 10: Oscar Brand - The Americans A Canadian, who usually speaks poorly about America, not speaking poorly about America. This album really shows its age. #AlbumADay 9: Don McLean - American Pie This album is beautiful in its solemnity. Tracks like American Pie, Vincent, The Grave, and Babylon all are exquisitely written and performed, and all hang heavy with a depressive, brooding mood. In fact, the only track that doesn't really fit this theme is Everybody Loves Me, Baby, unless Mr. McLean is despondent for his baby to love him. But the tune is very upbeat in comparison to the almost dirge-like procession of the others. Very strange. #DonMcLean #AmericanPie #vinyl #itsallgroovy #deadformat

#AlbumADay 7: Various Artists - All That Jazz I have never listened to this album before, and I can't recall say it was all that great. #AlbumADay 6: ABBA - The Album Catchy, synthesized Europop that took the discos of the 1970s by storm (though I only immediately recognize three songs off the track list on this album -- no pun intended). Some of the songs seem somewhat folksy in... tone doesn't seem to be quite the right word, but it will have to suffice. Examples include (IMO): "Eagle" and "One Man, One Woman." "Move On" would not sound out of place at a carnival. "Hole In Your Soul" is about as close to rock and roll as ABBA gets. And then there is the "mini-musical" at the end. This album is as all-over-the-place as cell phone reception in a high school. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing -- well, The Album, anyway. 3/5 #ABBA #TheAlbum #vinyl #deadformat #itsallgroovy

#AlbumADay 4: Amy Grant - Age To Age A Goodwill present from my father. One I don't listen to very often because I don't really believe in the whole "hold hands, sing Kumbayah" blah blah it professes. That and my father was an abusive asshole. But I digress... #AlbumADay 2: The Buggles - Adventures In Modern Recording The second and final album by The Buggles, AIMR is a spacey, chiptune-laden trip through time. Certainly not one I put on all the time, it has its merits. Trying this whole #AlbumADay thing again. From the top! The Beatles' Abbey Road is an album considered by many to be one of their best.
