happy severance day! here's some studies I've done while waiting for the new episode
severance is so scary i hope jobs arent real
SEVERANCE / Emily Brontë (via @helly-ena)
With severance season 2 around the corner it’s time for me to share the time I accidentally watched 4 minutes of an episode on mute and thought it was a brilliant way to show the sensory deprivation experienced by the innies
Me when Chester Norris and Augustus:
OH THEY ARE FR IN THE PUTER NOW
LETTERBOXD CASEMENT 🔥🔥🔥
Did Lena brutal pipe murder someone and we didn't even get to hear it? 😞
I've seen so many people theorise about Chester, Norris and Augustus and if they're John, Martin and Jonah and I personally am not gonna theorise on this.
I feel like whatever it is we will not guess accurately anyways and I am just thoroughly enjoying not knowing what wild things are going on.
It feels like listening to tma for the first time, where nothing could have prepared me for what would happen. This is just so fun
Everyone is hiding something, or at the very least, pointedly not mentioning something.
Sam is hiding the real reason he wanted a job at the OIAR and why he's so interested in the Magnus Institute.
Alice has definitely seen more shit than she's letting on. There is a reason she is so adamant that Sam ignore the cases and stop looking into things. I think she knows exactly how dangerous this stuff is.
Why is Gwen so intense about this job? Why is she gunning so hard to be in charge? Why is she still here when she seemingly has the means and opportunity to do something else?
Colin knows the computers are listening. He probably knows or suspects even more that's he's not telling anyone else about.
Lena... Well after this episode she's starting to look real nefarious. But even before that the way she talks during Sam's interview and her conversation with Gwen makes it seem like she is very aware that this is not just a normal civil service job.
This damn office is full of secrets.
So are we just not gonna talk about the guy who was Grifter's Bone before Grifter's Bone made it cool??
I'm really glad to see that everyone seems to be having a good time with The Magnus Protocol, and my heart is very full with all the wonderful comments people are making, but I do need to flag something up.
For some of these episodes, a lot of folks are giving me credit for stuff I did not actually write. The cases for episodes 3 and 4 were both by guest writers, Graeme Patrick and Cole Weavers respectively, and they really deserve some love thrown their way.
That's not to minimise my own part: me and Alex certainly do editing work on them, and add in a few bits here and there to make sure everything cohesively fits in with the overall story and tone of the show, but if you enjoyed these episodes, then Graeme and Cole are the ones to thank for it.
And for that matter, Alex wrote episode 2 and deserves more of the accolades for how good that one was than I think he got (my edits just made it a bit... squishier).
Protocol is much more of a team effort than Archives was and so while, in a broad sense, you can still lay most of the blame for bad things happening to characters you love squarely at my feet, it's genuinely important to pay attention to the "written by" section of the credits this time around, 'cause often it's not gonna be my name there, and someone else deserves the thanks for giving you a horrible treat.
Raise your hand if (when listening to tma) read along with the transcripts released on this site.
Now raise your hand if you think that TRQ having their public transcripts be available via a rather hastily made Sharepoint with no ability to use a screenreader on it and locking their more accessible transcripts behind the paywall of the Patreon is stupid.
Raise your hand if you think it’s stupid of TRQ to require people who need accessibility accommodations to enjoy their own works pay for said accessibility.

Yeah this Augustus guy is Jonah I’m calling it now
Dear TMA/TMAGP fandom,
WE KNOW THAT THE OTHER COMPUTER VOICE ISNT ELIAS ITS VOICED BY TIM FEARON NOT BEN MEREDITH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD
Throwing my hat into the magnus protocol theory ring here, but Sam and his idea that he’s rebuilding his life is reminding me a lot of Warren Godby in season 1 of Red Valley (and if you’ve listen to it you know how that goes)
Obviously this idea will change as we (possibly) get more information about Sam’s backstory, but just know I have my eye on Sam 👁️
