She could sense the annoyance in her lover’s tone after days of not being able to sleep peacefully next to Pearl, and Pearl felt bad. She glanced at the clock - 4:52 AM. Not a weird time to be up in their profession, but when a girl’s asleep she’s asleep. “I’m sorry babe,” Pearl told her quietly. “Guess I should go back to my own bed until this sorts out or something.”
