Tallie nodded gently as she spoke, suggesting names of people who were, definitely, very much close to her. “Ella knows, actually… I brought Riss to meet her while she was in the hospital. I don’t want to tell Sean right now.. he’s got a lot on his plate with Connor and Kayt. He doesn’t need to worry about my work schedule- and you know he will, no matter how much I tell him it’s okay. I have zero excuse for not telling Sophia, aside from not wanting it to get back to Sean. Lia’s got enough going on. And- I mean, well… Gabe..” she shrugged lightly, curling in on herself slightly, “Not only does he have a lot going on but- I- I kinda… have a thing with him.. and I- I’m afraid I’ll lose him if he knows. I just… I’ve got to find the right way to tell him, you know?” She smiled lightly, “No need to thank me.” She smiled. “And thank you, Vi. I appreciate that.”

Tallulah smiled brightly at Natasha, “Thank you, Natasha. I can’t tell you how much that means to me. It’s funny, I’ve- I spent so long having hardly anyone that had my back.. and I make one… hail mary move to some far away land and-” She brushed her fingers through her hair slight exasperation on her face, “suddenly, I have all of this support.” It was mildly overwhelming to the girl, that she had so much help, and love now. Carissa seemed to take to the toys with much excitement. Tallulah was still working on filling her guest room with things for Rissa. “I’m sure they’ll be best friends in no time.”

Violet smiled softly, wondering just how other people would react to her, because no one could be upset with such a sweet face. "See, there you go, there's one person. Everything happens when it's ready, and I can't say I blame you for some of those reasons to be honest with you. Though what was that I heard about you and Gabe kind of having a sort of thing?" She asked with raised brows. "But I can almost guarantee he won't go running because of her, he's Cassidy's kind of not related uncle, I can imagine this little one would be great for him. But that's me saying and I became biased the minute I had Cassidy, and immediately believe children make someone a better person... Not always true I know." She sighed softly, nodding. "It's the least I can do."

Natasha smiled over at Tallie, "That's the thing about growing up, you learn who you need and where you want to be in life as you go along, and the more you live your life the more people become important, life is about change, you just have to learn to take the good with the bad and figure out who has your back when you need it the most. And around here? You have more than you could ever ask for, for as long as you want it." Violet smiled as she made her way over to her mother, wrapping her arms around her, loving these moments being able to feel like a kid again. "Seriously, mum is like a wall of support."

‘’A secret stash.. now you know when you fall asleep I’m just going to nose around and find it all, right?’’ He had accomplished what he could with what was available. At least a moment had been created. ‘’There won’t be much quick about it, it’s always good to take your time.’’ He smiled teasingly before brushing her hair aside to lean down and place a biting kiss on Violet’s neck. And then he took Cassidy back, with Violet going off for the straw. 

Cassidy did her best and seemed excited with the candle snuffing out. Clark handed the baby back over and removed the candle, leaving it on the side of the plate. ‘’Ah, a little grumpy cat when she’s tired, is she? Can she have a bite of the cupcake at least?’’ Violet was giving nothing away with her wish, gazing around the room with a slight disappointment. He had to wonder what the wish had been, but didn’t dare to make a guess either. The thought that Violet was left somehow unfulfilled caused Clark to frown too. ‘’I won’t ask. But I hope whatever it is, it’ll come true. By your next birthday, perhaps.’’

"Well I'll give you a clue then.. Back of a cupboard, look for a second cupboard. It will help you not pull everything out." Violet was incredibly grateful for these little moments, after everything she had been through she enjoyed them more. "Well see now you're just making me look forward to it." She grinned, tilting her head to the side to allow him access and biting her lip to stop herself from making an interesting noise that she was sure would appear later.

All the tension that had been in Violet previously melted away when she was holding Cassidy, she hated feeling like this sometimes, but truth be told she was a product of what she had dealt with so far. "Very much so, she turns into little miss Hulk. She will definitely have a bite of cupcake, but only a bite, she's still not quite eating solid food." She chuckled when she saw the reaction her not getting her wish had caused and leaned her head against his shoulder, of course what she wished for was beyond ridiculous but that didn't mean she wouldn't try. "Don't worry, I didn't really expect a fudge river to flow into my kitchen."

Kat grinned and nodded. “Awesome!” She bounced away from the two women to pick at the food table and check out the pool. Nikki shook her head lightly as she watched her daughter before glancing back at Violet and Cassidy with a grin as the baby laughed and gurgled. She couldn’t help the pang of something that hit her as she watched the baby. She’d always wanted kids, loved children and babies and all of that and she’d never regret getting Kat when she did. But she sometimes did wish she had a baby of her own to take care of. “Well, I’ll be sure to do that before we leave. She’s finally hit the ‘sleeping through the night’ stage?”

Violet chuckled as she watched Kat bound away and pick at the food, her mother, who was laying out even more food was chuckling lightly at her enthusiasm as well before heading back inside to start making even more of the food she had been working on. When Cassidy started fussing a little she shifted her in her arms, only to be met with a grumpy response. She kissed the top of her head and moved to put her in her high chair, that calmed her down just a little bit. Violet nodded as she turned back to Nicolette. "Absolutely, the first night she slept through I thought something was wrong, I woke up at 7am and thought I slept through her crying but she was still asleep."

Dahlia’s eyes darted around as they walked and it was like her body didn’t know if it wanted to be tense because of everything or if it wanted to relax because she knew she was safe around Violet. “That is ridiculous.” And she winced when the words didn’t sound as joking as she meant them. She watched as Ghost stayed at their sides though she could tell he wanted to run. When the park came into sight she gestured and Ghost barked before taking off running, dodging around people until he hit the park where he chased leaves and barked at birds. “Taste tester competition? I’m wounded, I thought I was your only tester.”

Violet tried her best to stay as calm and reassuring as she possibly could but everything that had happened made her a little less happy, though for the most part Violet was the most happy person even she knew, so that wasn't saying too much. "Don't knock it till you try it, sister." She chuckled lightly, even if Dahlia didn't sound like she was joking she would laugh, because the wince that she felt afterward told her everything she needed to know. She laughed lightly as she lead her through the park to a nice sunny spot, letting go of Dahlia to lay down a blanket for them to sit on. "Don't worry, I'll only give them the really experimental ones, you get the ones I know are amazing."

Sara smiled lightly and looked around at the set up of the party, taking in the decorations and the table full of food her smile widened. “Jeez, are you planning on feeding an  army?” She joked lightly. She seemed to melt even more when Violet moved closer with the baby. “Well, hello there, Cassidy. Happy five months. You certainly are a cutie, huh?” She cooed down at the baby, reaching out to gently stroke the babe’s cheek. “Happy birthday too you.” She sang softly, focusing on keeping her voice normal and human.

Violet laughed brightly at her questioning, her mother had made a lot of food, and she had used that expression to describe the amount of food her mother made on more than one occasion. "Absolutely, well, not quite my mother just doesn't know when to stop cooking. Anything left is going down to the homeless shelter." She said with a light chuckle as Cassidy reached up to hold onto Sara's finger, and then, pulled it to her mouth, letting it go before she pulled it right into her mouth. "Cass, we don't put other people's fingers in our mouths." She looked up at Sara shaking her head. "I'm sorry about her. She must be hungry."

Liana dragged the mug towards her, looking down at the dark liquid, she held the handle and pulled it up to her mouth. She flinched as the liquid made contact with her tongue, before she could stop she’d swallowed a boiling mouthful. “Ouch” she hissed, her eyes wide “people drink that? That’s painful.”

Violet held her hands up and then grimaced as she put the cup to her lips, biting her finger lightly. "Oh god I'm so sorry, I meant to tell you it's hot." She said with a slight sigh. "I'm so sorry, but if you blow on it, and sip it, that helps." Violet got up to get some cold water and returned, holding it out to her. "Here, this will cool down your mouth."

Clark could go on.. and on.. with the comments ..to probably only his own amusement. Flirting and suggestive talk had always been the norm. But he didn’t continue, he only gave Violet a smile. ‘’I hope that’s a promise you keep, Miss Mayfair.’’ 

When he lit the candle Cassidy clapped her hands together twice, one sprout of a baby tooth in her smile. Violet tolerated the noise they had made in the kitchen, and then began to walk with her eyes covered. She did amazingly well in finding the table, even if it was her house. The sight got a laugh out of Clark. ‘’OK, you can uncover your eyes. And.. ‘’ He sat Cassidy on the table, covering the child’s ears and whispering, ‘’Hey, fuck you, you need to go to the store. Or bring home more things. That I can then give back to you like I’ve actually done something.’’ He was teasing of course, but it wasn’t lost on him that he served Violet her own food.

Lifting Cassidy back up in his arms, he bounced her a little. ‘’Alright, make a wish. I bet Cass could help you out too.’’

Violet wanted to continue the back and forward, needing the fun of it all, but of course she found herself simply grinning and shaking her head. It was easier to just nod at this point. "A Mayfaire always keeps her promises, Mr Brennon."

Finding her way to the table was the easy part, what was the hard part was not looking too soon, of course her curiosity was far harder to contain. She pulled her hands from her eyes as soon as he said and she couldn't stop the laugh when he spoke. She shook her head, leaning up to kiss his cheek. "Don't worry, honey. You just didn't find my secret stash, which I'm glad is well hidden. But for the most part I only have not sweet things." She put her hands over Cassidy's ears and tilted her head at him. "So quick with the fucking, don't worry, her bed time is in about an hour." She went to pull her hands away, only for Cassidy to reach her little arms out, wanting to get back to Violet.

Violet pulled, away, letting Cassidy wait for awhile even if she was upset about it, she would have to learn that she was there, and she would still be there when Violet did take her back. Moving away to get a straw, placing it in Cassidy's mouth, aiming it toward the candle and telling her to blow. Weakly, and assisted by Violet also blowing the candle, she blew the candle out, only for Violet to clap her hands lightly. "Good job baby!" She grinned, reaching her hands out to take her back. "And now she'll be getting sleepy, and she'll get grumpy until she gets to sleep, which honestly who doesn't get grumpy when they're sleepy?" She frowned lightly, looking around the room. “Ah my wish didn’t come true. One day, and if I told you what it was I’d ruin the sanctity of the birthday wish.”

Tallulah was almost sure that any amount of happiness Carissa had would be doubled by Cassidy, because any amount of woman that Tallie was, she knew Violet at least doubled. She hoped that she could be half the mother Vi was. “Who else could I trust with this?” she asked, almost incredulously, as she smiled down at her wiggling one year old. “You get me… you’re like me. There’s no one else I can trust like I can trust you.” There may have been people she was relatively closer to, but no one she thought could understand her better.

Tallulah beamed, “whenever I need cheering up, I’ll know where to head to. Thank you, Natasha.” she smiled, nodding her head. “I’d be happy to help!” She exclaimed, setting Carissa down and handing her a finger food to gnaw at. She followed closely behind to the kitchen, budding with excitement to help such kind people with something. “Sean’s been schooling me. We’ve had to take a break lately, but it’s… been a struggle, that’s for sure. Cooking is not my first language, but I’ve definitely picked up on a thing or two.” she spoke, watching as Rissa waddled after her, munching on the food.

Violet hummed a moment, wondering just if there was an answer she could give Tallie to that question, as much as she said Tallie was one of her favourite people, she didn't really know all that much about her, or at least she didn't think so. "Hmm, Sean? Lia? Sophia? Gabe? Ella?" She guessed, shrugging lightly, a smile forming on her face. "Well.. Thank you, I appreciate that, I really do." She crossed her heard and smiled. "Cross my heart, hope to die, I won't let that secret get out until you're comfortable with people knowing."

Natasha found herself smiling as well. "Well we have an open front door policy, if you need anything, including anything to do legally and you're one of our little girls friends, it's on the house." Violet felt a smile grow as she followed them inside, unable to help herself from offering Carissa a finger to hold as she walked inside, leading her lightly to a giant pile of stuffed toys, dolls, trucks, cars, building blocks, anything any kid would be only happy to play with that was right beside the kitchen, and then she put Cassidy down right beside her, propping her up with a few toys and a giant teddy bear, placing a few toys in front of them and then popped up with a grin. "Well then, let us mumma Mayfaire's help while the babes get acquainted."

There were worse ways to spend time than imagining what Cassidy might do when she grew up. Although their ideas might be for amusement purposes only. When Violet leaned over to kiss his forehead, he had to smile. Mainly because he had to comment, and if she didn’t see it coming a mile away then Violet didn’t know Clark well. ‘’I’ve heard of the healing properties in a kiss. So you should know.. it’s not just the forehead, every inch of me hurts.’’

Clark had lucked out finding the ukulele. Even though she had one, the one he found was a little older, and it looked made for the blonde. Promptly heading to the kitchen, he waved off her concerns. Cassidy seemed interested on where they were going, and he shifted her to his hip so she could see it all. 

He called out. ‘’For a professional baker you don’t have much. Someone needs a trip to the store..’’ Searching high and low, Clark found a box from Violet’s shop on top of the fridge. Inside was one perfect cupcake left, possibly brought home at the end of the day. He removed the decorative paper around it and placed it on a plate. Then, he rummaged through a drawer and found one lonely white candle to stick in the middle. 

Clark carried it to Violet’s kitchen table. He carried around an old Zippo his grandfather had given him. More as a fidget these days, or a talisman to remind him of his granddad, as Clark hadn’t smoked in some time. He lit the candle and called out. ‘’Alright, come in here so we can sing you Happy Birthday. A belated one, but you know..’’

It was all Violet could do not to shake her head and laugh at his comments, of course she had been expecting that comment, but she wasn't sure in what context he would put it or how he would say it. She groaned lightly, resting her head in her hand and laughing. It was hilarious, even she had to admit that part, and wonderful all at the same time. "Well, I guess I'll just have to save kissing you all better until after Cassidy goes to bed. I'll pay particular attention to a certain amount of inches."

Battling against her instincts to follow her daughter, she let out a soft sigh, allowing that same worry to wash over her and level out. She may have been far too over protective sometimes, but even she had to admit that there was still something amazing about watching Clark and Cassidy bonding. Even more than that she was looking forward to whatever came now, and the more she thought about it the more she came to the conclusion that the further they got into their relationship the more she could relax and let go of some of the strings.

Violet listened as they rattled around in the kitchen, almost knowing what she was going to see when she walked in, almost. She didn't quite know what things he had found with all his rattling and yet she knew the cupcake, one she had saved for later to share, was definitely going to be involved, but for the most part she couldn't be sure.

Standing to her feet she made her way into the kitchen, knowing her way around so well that she did it with her hands still covering her eyes, only looking down to make sure she didn't stand on anything more than the floor. Then she made her way into the kitchen, moving over to the counter, using her limited sight to find feet and side up next to him. "I'm guessing the cupcake I saved for us for later was found then?"

Liana couldn’t help but laugh lightly, it amused her that this woman would so freely order twice the amount they needed just so that Liana could test both. It was a fairly maternal gesture, one that Liana appreciated. 

The drink arrived and the young mermaid looked at both with a quizzical eye, neither drink had a particularly inviting colour. Not wanting to look stupid by asking which one was which she instead asked “so which one do you think I should try first?”

Violet had never been one for refusing anyone anything, no matter who they were she would let them take the shirt off her back if it meant they were happy and here she was proving it to herself yet again.

taking two extra mugs Violet poured equal measures of each one into each cup, then reached into her box, splitting her cupcake in half and placing half on the plate for Liana, doing the same with the cupcake Liana had and smiling. "Well my first suggestion is going to be the tea." She pointed to one cup. "The one without the foam."

Clark laughed albeit quietly. ‘’Can’t say I’d blame her for the drooling then. So Cassidy Mayfaire, lead singer a Norwegian black metal band. Excellent. She’s got the lungs for it.’’ Violet’s wish to reach out for Cassidy was written all over her, the instinct to protect her child, cautiously and a little overprotective. Clark didn’t take it personally. ‘’I promise, I got her.’’ He offered to try and ease Violet’s nerves. ‘’And when I take this little pipsqueak outside and toss her reallllly high in the air.. I will catch her then too. Because I am well aware you’ll murder me if I don’t. And besides, I like her. She’s fun.’’ 

It was one of the few memories Clark had of his father that was peaceful, tranquil. Watching his dad lift Dahlia up, send her up into the air just high enough to see her eyes go wide, and then catch her again. Dahlia wasn’t as fond of it as Clark. That sense of free falling, knowing someone would save you on the way down.  

He also wasn’t bothered by Violet’s attempts to hide her amusement of Cassidy using Clark as a drum. Rubbing at the spot on his forehead, he smiled. ‘’We definitely are going to have to work on accuracy with those drum sticks.’’ 

Clark had some of the equipment set aside, with Cassidy too young to use it. He glanced over to Violet bringing Cassidy down once more to sit on the floor, supporting her back, and attaching the pedal to the bass drum. ‘’I wish we could’ve done more for your birthday, but I’m glad you liked it.’’ Leaning over Violet’s daughter, he helped her press down the drum pedal, and Cassidy squealed. ‘’In fact.. maybe this is the rest of your celebration.’’ He lifted Cassidy again she’d played with the pedal, holding her in front of him to look at the chubby cheeked baby. ‘’Let’s go see what we can find for the party, yeah?’’ Clark stood carrying the little girl snug at his side in an arm, and they headed to the kitchen, turning to look at Violet before they disappeared. ‘’Don’t move.’’ 

She relaxed a little and nodded, a smile forming at the edges of her mouth. "Definitely can't blame her. Cassidy Mayfaire is going to have violent black metal flames and come out in clothes made of metal with spikes all over it and a deathhawk, and I tell you I couldn't imagine myself being more proud." She sat back a little, sighing and tilting her head. "Ah you caught me, maternal instinct is too strong." She said with a shake of her head, "yes because you don't want to give me a heartattack this soon. It's nice to see you know how that will go though. All of the fun a baby not even a year old can be."

With her maternal instincts high it was hard to be away from her daughter for too long without worrying about her, and every time in the past months that she had left her daughter with her mother when she had to go to work she felt an ache deep within her until once more they were reunited, and that felt like a releif to her. Violet leaned over to kiss the spot in the middle of his forehead, a smile spreading out over her face. "One thing I have always been taught is that if you kiss things it makes them far better. It should be well on it's way to healing now."

The smile that had been so firmly planted on her face only grew, she was sure by this point the idiotic smile she was wearing on her face looked drunk, and maybe by some accounts she was drunk, drunk on happiness. "I'll have one next year too. We can do something more then. Me and Cassidy spent the afternoon dancing to the music from the ukulele." She nodded, a chuckle coming from her, "oh boy well now I'm going to be very excited." Instead of reaching out for the little girl that was in Clark's arms she stayed still, happy to let him take her. Violet bit her lip to stop herself laughing too hard. "Everything in the kitchen is free range, if you look hard enough you'll find anything." She called and then frowned. "And if Cassidy gets too fussy she wants to come back, she's about to hit her clingy phase. I’m closing my eyes too!"

‘’I’ve taught a few people before how to play some things.. none as cute though, I must say.’’ Cassidy exploring the drums for the first time was relaxing in a strange way. To see something that brought him so much joy new through her eyes. As Cassidy grew bolder, her uncoordinated pats to the drum became louder. Clark looked at Violet, his brows tight together as if pondering a serious question. ‘’Hm. Did Sandy West drool this much though?’’ He gazed at Cassidy again as if she would answer too, but the baby was too absorbed in her new toy to pay any attention. 

Clark righted the cymbal stand after tightening and telescoping the legs out, and then he placed the small mallet in Cassidy’s hand. He helped her curl the chubby fingers around the stick, and then lifted her up to sit on his shoulders, holding on to her so that she didn’t topple over. ‘’I’m basically deaf from standing too close to monitors at shows or playing the guitar, so it won’t bother me. And screeches, well maybe she’s gonna be one of those drummers who sing too? Practicing her best screech I think.’’ 

He directed one of Cassidy’s hands out towards the cymbal so the kid could hit it. Instead, the mallet swung back, tapping Clark in the forehead. And the top of the head next. And again. ‘’Nope. That’s not. That’s not it. I’ll make a sound every time but that’s not what you’re aiming for Cass..’’ He winced a little dramatically each time - it didn’t hurt of course, he found it more than entertaining. Normally Clark would run fleeing from the scene of anything remotely close to cute. Cassidy’s fumbling with the mallet could definitely be labeled as such. He should feel completely out of his element, but he didn’t. 

Eventually, he moved her hand again towards the cymbal and helped her tap it quickly several times to build a low ring in the room before hitting it once a little harder, to demonstrate the full glorious range of sounds that could come from the magical piece of metal. Cassidy’s face grew serious, tiny lips puckered, and she hit a few times harder building confidence, her eyes blinking shut comically with each cymbal crash. He asked Violet, unable to see for himself with Cass still seated on his shoulders, ‘’Does she like it?’’

"Well now I have to say I don't think there's one cuter than Cassidy, but that's just my bias." Violet moved a little further over, so she could hold a hand out to make sure Cassidy felt safe enough to reach out and take Violets hand if she really needed it. She looked back to Clark and shrugged, "depends on just how much she liked Joan Jett." She giggled, something wanted to reach out and make sure Cassidy was safe, but of all the people in the world she knew she trusted Clark, and her mum reflexes had been working overtime lately. "Well I wouldn’t want you losing any more of your hearing. I have to say sometimes I wonder if I all of those screeches will form into a good singing voice very soon. If not she'll just join a metal band and pretend that's what she's meant to do."

Violet cupped a  hand over her mouth to stifle the laugh that was about to burst forward out of her, she could barely help herself, it was hilarious and she bit her lips closed to stop herself laughing. "Alright, I have to admit that's absolutely adorable even if you might get a red mark on your forehead." She covered her face with her hand when a smile formed on her face. She didn't want him to think she was laughing at him for the wrong reasons, but it really was so sweet to see he and Cassidy bonding, and it had been long enough that she was more excited for all of this than nervous about it.

The smile was quickly replaced with a light grimace as the sound of the cymbal rang out through the house. No doubt she would be hearing that much more times as life went on. Violet recognized the look on Cassidy's face, she had seen that look so many times on her own face that she was sure Cassidy was going to turn into a miniature her in a very short amount of time, and yet every time Cassidy crashed against the cymbals, she cheered, choosing encouragement over annoyance. "I think she preferred hitting you on the head." She teased, "but yes, definitely. And I think I have a lovely ukulele someone wonderful left me for my birthday that I can bring out and we can really get something going."

Tallulah couldn’t help but love the little girl. She’d loved her from the day Caoimhe and Max introduced them, but this was different. This was some strange chemical attraction that she could only assume you gain after having a child. Tallulah smiled back at Violet, wondering briefly if this was what it was like to be a mother. Tallulah had no intentions of ever bringing a child of her own into this world, but if she had to raise this one, she’d do it happily. “Thank you… You don’t know how much I appreciate that… I’m honestly a bit surprised I’ve told you, if we’re being honest. But if I were to tell anyone, it would be you.”

Tallulah was a bit shocked to see even more food emerge with Violet’s mother. “Thank you,” she smiled, hoping the older woman was right. Tallie laughed, “Maybe a kinda yes?” she grinned, accepting one of the plates from Natasha. “Thank you very much. I’m shocked at the amount of food… but then I remember this is Violet’s house, and I can’t be that surprised at the fact that there so much food.” She mused. “Is there anything I can help with? Sean’s been teaching me how to cook.”

The idea that Violet was one of the people she would have told made her light up, the smile coming far easier to her face. There was something special about being so highly thought of by anyone, and it was enough to draw out even more of her most genuine smile. There was something special about the little girl that was in front of her, and Violet couldn’t help but smile down at her, she really was adorable, and she hoped Cassidy would be this happy at a year old. “Well, you don’t know how happy it makes me to know that you think so highly of me honestly. I’m glad you think so much of me, and I know about this little one.”

Natasha gave a bright smile over at the pair of them, nodding her head. “You’re welcome.” Violet chuckled, putting a few things on her plate, and handing Cassidy to Natasha when she held her arms out for the little girl. “When you come to either one of our homes it always means there will be a lot of food and merriment. That’s one thing you can always guarantee.” Natasha said with a nod. “Well, all the main is done, but if you want to help with dessert I have a few things that could be helped.”

Clark had saved up for months to get the right child’s drum set. A Ludwig kit, purple glitter sparkle on the drum shells. Nothing but perfection would do. He smiled at them both, and before setting up the cymbals he reached out to take Cassidy. ‘’I know she’s a little young but. When she’s ready, she’ll already have it. If she wants, I can teach her.’’ 

Clark sat cross-legged on the floor behind the set, and helped Cassidy stand up resting her hands on the snare. He then drummed his fingers on the snare so that Cassidy could hear the sharp rattle, soft at first before tapping it a little harder with his hand. ‘’You’re going to be playing like Meg White in no time. Better than her, actually. Janet Weiss at least.’’ He leaned to the side enough to see Cassidy’s face as her tiny hand began to imitate his on the drum, patting it tentatively at first. ‘’Look at that, she’s a natural,’’ he said with his gaze turning up to see Violet. Clark had also brought a small percussion mallet, with his idea being it might be easier for Cassidy to use in a few months. 

After giving Cassidy a few minutes, he sat her in his lap and then reached for a short cymbal stand, removing the screws to attach the thin crash cymbal. As he worked, he whispered, but loud enough for Violet to hear. ‘’Now.. this is what we need to play next.. so you can drive your mum crazy.. ’’ 

Cassidy let out a big giggle as Violet handed her over, almost interrupting him. Violet couldn't help but smile as she watched the both of them, her heart, however slowly was opening again and it was so nice to feel those walls shattering. "I think, considering how much music she's around it's going to be inevitable that she starts playing something, and I couldn't think of a better teacher."

Violet leaned back against the wall as she watched the two of them, there was something so sweet and pure watching her daughter finding enjoyment in music, and the sheer elation that was on Cassidy's face made Violets own smile all the brighter. "Perhaps we might have a future famous drummer in our midst and not even know, maybe she might be a Sandy West." She said with a grin on her face, laughing lightly. She watched for a few more seconds and then nodded. "I really do think she's going to be great at this." She said as she looked down and smiled brightly, her gaze drifting back to Cassidy who was gurgling and giggling, tapping her chubby fingers on the drum.

She joined them on the floor, taking a seat beside the two of them and opened her mouth to protest, but found a laugh came from her instead. "Alright well if she's going to drive me crazy with the cymbals she'll end up driving you crazy too." She laughed, her hands reaching out to tickle Cassidy's feet, being met with yet another set of screeching giggles, then pulled her hands away, resting them on his knee. "And right now you can just deal with her lung capacity for screeches."
