AI porn is literally the most unsexy thing I’ve ever seen. It is always a soulless approximation of human sexuality, devoid of passion, and why would you want pornography without passion to it? It is always obvious in the dead eyes of its models, the backgrounds that go blurry and out of focus because then the computer won’t get caught fudging all the details, the horrifyingly perfect sheets of hair and the vague guesses at what bodily fluids look like. Giving up your environment, your scruples, and your basic artistic integrity for that isn’t even outrageous. It’s just kind of sad.

We need to stop accepting reflexively the narrative the NYPD and the media have tried to sell us; it's got way too many holes in it and it runs the risk that an innocent man will spend his life in jail or be executed for a crime he didn't commit. The fact that we would all support him if he did commit it is irrelevant; the state will grind him through the gears of injustice if it can.

This 100%. Several students in my ethics class a few weeks ago wanted to discuss "Luigi Mangione killing a healthcare CEO" and were very confused when I said that no, we do not know that he did it. One person even told me they thought he confessed. This narrative that we know he did it, and we now must only consider our thoughts on his actions has become insanely prevalent. Even the professor went along with it without question.

It is genuinely baffling to me, in a very kind and positive way, especially coupled with the local news continually going several shades of 'wtf, this thing is a roaring success again and we don't quite get why'. I think people want to help the environment in small but tangible ways, which is hard right now because of.. well... because of The Horrors. And being able to say 'wow! I helped this creature cross a dam' makes you feel good.

I also think that most people can relate to a small, helpless creature trying to get from one place to another and there's a FUCKIN WALL in the way.

But to come back to point 1- Citizen Science fills a hole in the soul that wanted to go out on adventures and discover things when we were younger, but the study of it was hard or we didn't have the money or our schools were garbage. But you don't have to have a degree to do things like... press a button or download and use an app, or count or transcribe notes.

I fucking hate that the general response to RFK Jr's eugenist take on autistic people is "autistic people do pay taxes, autistic people do work, autistic people do date!"

Some autistic people don't and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life. Some autistic people do need constant help and support and that shouldn't make them less worthy of life.

Once again we're falling in the right wing trap of :

They make a hateful, fascist statement

Instead of focusing on the fact that it is hateful and fascist we try to show them that they are factually wrong

We throw our own allies and the most vulnerable of us under the bus in the process

We legitimise an only slightly less hateful, fascist view as we go

They have completed their goal of making us accept the still hateful, fascist second version, hurrah. What a victory.

Right now what we're getting to with that is that autistic people who can work and pay taxes are okay, and the others aren't. Fuck this shit.

Same thing happens with the people who are being deported ("they have a visa!", "they didn't even have a criminal record!" -> even if they didn't have a visa, even if they did have a criminal record, deporting them and detaining them in what's essentially a concentration camp wouldn't be okay, you absolute tools of fascism.)

Harmful response: "Many autistic people do work!" -> Validates the belief that that someone being unable to work is shameful and makes them a lesser person, and implies that autistic people should not need support

Correct response: "Yes, many autistic people can't work, so it's our duty as a society to make sure they are supported, you fascist asshole" -> Accepts the realities of disability and values the lives of disabled people, names the actual problem here
