Hello! With Nativus is there anywhere you’ve talked about it? (From what I’ve heard/seen about the characters they’re so interesting but I was wondering where else to look for information regarding them!)
Unfortunately when I was a teenager I deleted everything I wrote about it because I held a deep shame with everything I created (I, now still a teenager, have moved past this shame so I've started posting again)
TL;DR nativus is my OC world/story I've been working on for like. a little over 11 years now? I plan to turn it into an animated comic someday! (Think Ava's demon, if that's smth you know abt) It's surrounding the idea of a world with two key features:
Gods are real, and they can die. They have chosen people called "Nativi" (singular is nativus) who have formed their societies around the function of their god eventually taking over 1 persons body and continuing the cycle of immortality
Time was shattered about 2-3 years ago, causing everything to be fucked up, from how long it takes for people to die, to how long things take to happen when outside of "human" decision (like the flow of water from a river, or how long something takes to fall).
The main story surrounds the protagonists (distinctly, I didn't want to write it around 'heros' and 'villains') trying to find out how Ash, despite killing themself 2 years ago, is somehow walking around very much so alive and allegedly without any memory of what happened leading up to their death and subsequent revival.
Callise is Ash's former partner, and the three others are tied to them either through Callise's grief or through having known them personally before they died. They work as helpers, travelling around the world to solve conflicts and deal with stray spirits turned eldritch horrors.
They work for Darius, a glass-man mogul who has monopolized all functions of employment and, thus, the economy. Which leads me to my next point:
The antagonists, as you can imagine, actually have very little involvement w the protags at first beyond Darius (I'll die before any story of mine stops being a character study), but the one unifying trait that the audience will always be aware of is these 3 are all "false gods" (people who are either worshipped or acknowledged as a diety despite not being actual gods).
Shi (real name being Izanami) is the 'grim reaper', and is the reason these stray spirits turn into eldritch horrors because (for some reason or other OoOooOO) they have not been doing their job with the same efficiency for the past couple of years. It definitely has nothing to do with the spirit of their dead brother that only they can see.
Their close connection to spirits and dying make them a person the protags would love to ask about everything to, but they are notoriously asocial, busy, and 15 years old, so you can imagine how tracking them down while being in your early to late 20s and having a job goes.
Ultimately, Nativus is a horror story about grief, so it's got a lot of heavy discussions about trauma, mental health, abuse and interpersonal relationships. No one at all in this whole story is completely stable and has good relationships w the people surrounding them. Callise sees their dead partner come back to life and frame 1 tries to just blow their brains out like we're not dealing with ok people here.
I just care about them a lot regardless, these are my oldest characters after all. So I hope that it's something interesting to other people too :] I'll probably go into depth about each of the characters through asks and small little doodles like the Shi ones I posted (I'm specifically very Shi/Kimon brained atm)
