You play Jesse Quick on superhero-hit series, “The Flash.” In your opinion, what is the essence of Jesse?

Jesse is wildly intelligent and quick-witted. She’s also incredibly caring and empathetic, which makes her decision between mercy and justice a difficult one. Because she’s from a different Earth, she carries a unique vibe and edge with her. Earth-2 is a combination of steam-punk meets 60s meets dystopian futuristic, and Jesse emulates pieces of that in her characteristics and clothing.

What are some of the pressures/challenges of being in the limelight that people might not know about?

Jesse L. Martin phrased this best: “social media is like inviting people to give you their opinion.” People online are wildly bold, and that’s what can be draining about dealing with the limelight. Even if there are 10 times more positive comments than negative ones, the ones that call you a “fat pig” or “awkwardly ugly” are the ones that will stick with you. I just try to remember that someone who feels the need to say nasty things online actually knows absolutely nothing about you or who you are and is probably going through something themselves.
