I am attempting to fix this,
To stop this inevitable fate.
Your music is distracting.
You believe you can stop this?
Why yes, I do.
Do you believe you can stop this with your music?
No.
Then why do you play?
I play because I know this fate is inevitable.
I choose to strum my guitar, however imperfect I may be,
Because this is what brings me joy.
I choose to sing these lyrics, however off-tune I may be,
Because I choose to lay myself open.
You choose to work.
You look at the logic, as irrefutable as you believe it is.
Are you satisfied?
You are choosing to work at the one point where your humanity matters the most.
And you hide it.
How are you so sure that this cannot be stopped?
Because I’ve seen this play out before.
A thousand times over,
Yet you never find a solution.
But I always play my song,
And I always die happy.
