First post because I just have to say something about this...

Saying that Byakuya is canonly suicidal is just plan wrong. You can headcanon it, but there's no canon evidence for it.

It goes against his whole character. He is egotistical, too confident for his own good with an intelligence that doesn't quite justify it- since he gets outsmarted by my girl Kyoko at times.

He knows what suicide is, but doesn't understand why Sakura would kill herself. Because guess what- he isn't suicidal. He is anything but.

That is why Chapter 4 happens as it does. That's why Byakuya can't solve the murder while Kyoko can. It's why he backs out of the game after that.

Saying he is suicidal though is trying to make him something he isn't. You're trying to make him seem softer so his actions can be more justified. But no. He has done bad stuff because he wanted to.

He's not some 'uwu soft boy' secretly. He's an asshole, somebody who doesn't understand emotions that aren't his own. Somebody who is at the top of the world, or at least seems to think so.

Don't try to make him better so you can justify liking him. It's not taking a deep look at his character, it's going against every fucking thing he stands for. Yes, he has depth to himself but him being suicidal is not that.

Also doesn't help that sometimes people make very jokey toned posts about this heavy subject. As somebody who has been suicidal, it's disgusting. It's also why I dislike this so much because it just feels like you're making fun of people like me with this.

How much of an influence do you think makoto has on Byakuya’s character as the story develops? Because going from “pleb commoner, ew.” to “I guess, I will come into the simulation that has a chance of killing me to help you. Be grateful.” Is quite the growth, so Makoto did do something right lol.

He certainly helped with his growth, that's for sure. But like... most of that still came from Byakuya himself. He was the one that 'bow out of the killing game' after chapter 4, with Makoto having no influence over that.

While Makoto's hope did help him become better, Makoto did that for all of the survivors. And a big part still comes from Byakuya himself.

Well, there really aren't a lot. At least not when you discard any Naegami and Togafuka fics... But, this person posts a lot of Byakuya related stuff. Don't really mind the aro Byakuya stuff going on in there, so do read some of their fics.

Other than that Byakuya did get some focus, mostly near the end, of this killing game AU, this Togiri fic is cute too and while this backstory fic is discontinued, I did like the first 2 chapters.

That's really all though, especially when you take away all of the Naegami stuff.

Eh, don't care. As long as you keep him as actually Byakuya, it's fine with me. It's the same as any Byakuya ship I don't ship myself. You do you. Only don't like it when he gets reduced to tropes or made into somebody he isn't just for a certain ship dynamic to work.

They might be based cuz of something I've read recently, but it has to be a reoccurring thing. Not gonna get mad at something I see like once.

Sure, there are some people on here who I can't fucking stand. Who get Byakuya's character so wrong it's almost impossible for them to like him. But I won't name them. I won't harass them. Becaause unlike some Naegami fans I can ignore people I disagree with. Or I make posts where I rant without mentioning people.

So, sorta both ig. But never just the first one and even if then, I won't ever mention who I mean.

For God's sake, adding some 'philosophical' sentences into a fic does not make it good. It quite literally doesn't do anything unless it makes sense and works. Same goes for analyses... Some Byakuya fans should take notes...

Like, giving him issues just so you can be deep doesn't do anything. These issues don't make sense- they don't fit his character. Why do you try to make him into somebody he isn't? At that point, it isn't Byakuya anymore.

If you only like a character when adding shit to them to the point it's not them anymore, you can't call yourself a fan of that character.

I'm all for giving Byakuya issues but you literally can't ignore canon while doing so. Or at least not call yourself a Byakuya fan if you don't even understand that simple part of his character.

It's the best boy's birthday, which means it's headcanon time.

So, he's actual in a good ol' poly relationship. Literally dating way too many people but it's okay because he's simple 'upholding himself to the Togami tradition of pursuing multiple suitors.'

As for who these people are? Well, there are Kyoko, Sayaka, and Junko, who are all his girlfriends. Kyoko and Sayaka are also dating cuz that's just cute af lol.

Then there's also... just Leon. He does not know how he managed to end up rizzing up Byakuya, but he did. Maybe partly due to Byakuya, but here he is, being the guy's only boyfriend.

Kyoko likes him due to the way they sorta just... bounce of each other. Plus, she likes to be able to notch his ego down a peg. Then Sayaka sees the kindness in him and tries him to be kinder to the classmates he isn't dating- which doesn't really work... Junko's very happy with that since she enjoys the fact that he has a few screws loose.

Leon just thinks he's very hot and likes how he's just so confident.

I won't lie to you man, I thought I was the only crazy selective Byakuya fan until you showed up. You're 10 steps ahead of me! Now it seems I'm in the middle when it comes to Byakuya headcanons.

I don't HC him suicidal, but I like to think he has a few issues in that head of his. Obviously not canon but it prevents him from becoming one-dimensional in my eyes.

I would never ship him with Toko, Makoto, or Chihiro but I literally ship him with everyone else.

I like to change his personality sometimes but it's more of persona/situational thing where you act much different around siblings versus when you're around peers. And I enjoy seeing what others come up with as long as I don't see Makoto lingering around to influence that but I also don't use those HCs for myself because I see him differently from what the 4 other Byakuya fans see him as.

Byakuya definitely has shit going on, for sure. But I really can't stand when people say he's suicidal or some stupid like that. He's not secretly soft or something for Makoto to fix.

And most Byakuya ships are cute. Like, give me some Togiri where Kyoko and Byakuya challenge each other academically. Or some Enogami where the two are just absolutely awful. Love me some Leogami too.

Really just any dynamic where they stay actual people and don't get reduced to stupid fetish tropes.

I can see Byakuya being more open around certain people, but that's something that'll take time, and will only happen when he sees them on the same level as himself.

What makes you so angry about people analysing his character? There is certainly signs of instability in Byakuya himself, I mean who just fucks with a crime scene for fun? I'd like to know why you hate people reading into his backstory, because after what he went through you're bound to be at least *somewhat* hurt on the inside. And what's so wrong with Naegami shippers? Coming from someone who has read into Togami and has analysed him quite a lot, I can see how some view him as a suicidal character.

If you really looked into his character, you would know why he messed with Chihiro's body. Or the fact that he literally says part of the reason in the game... He did that because he wanted to see who could solve the truth, that's what he says in the game.

As for the other part? It was a way to out Genocider Syo/Jill. Yk, the serial killer who murders boys she likes... like Byakuya... It was a way to ensure his safety.

And there's a difference between a bit hurt and actually being very insecure and feeling like he isn't worthy of his title. The first one is fine, that makes sense. But the second... yeah, no. Not with Byakuya. He is confident, practically overly confident. That's his fault, his weakness. Not being an''uwu soft boy' on the inside or some crap like that.

As for the Naegami part, most of the time these mischaracterisations come from Naegami shippers so Makoto can 'make him feel better' or something stupid like that. The idea of Naegami is fine, but the way people make it simply doesn't work and is border-on fetishization. The dynamic people make them have doesn't work. It's just so they can have dominant x submissive or something else like that, though Naegami shippers aren't ready to admit that.

There's a good way to write their dynamic, yes. And I've seen a few people do that, but most don't. Most go for the mischaracterisation to add 'depth' to Byakuya that makes him a different character.

And... he really isn't suicidal. Or we really forgetting his moment in the Chapter 4 trial?

He doesn't understand feelings, he doesn't understand suicide. And what reason would he even have to feel like that? Like, feeling suicidal is a very serious thing and Byakuya simply doesn't fit that bill.

He doesn't mind the situation in the killing game, believing he's above it all and can win. As for his life before? It was perfect- he was perfect. Does that sound like a suicidal person to you? No.

So, that's why I'm angry. Because some people are trying to make Byakuya into something he's not. Maybe in some big AU I can see him being suicidal, sure. But here? God, no. It's not even mischaracterization at that point but a fully different character.

Byakuya has a big ego. He isn't actually insecure. He quite literally believes himself to be better than practically everybody else. Anybody who has even read a bit into his character knows this. Stop trying to make him a fully different character, it simply doesn't work.

It pains me to see just how much Byakuya gets mischaracterised still. Like, no he isn't actually just 'hurt' on the inside, nor is he a puppet to the Togami Corporation. Like, have you read his FTE's??

He has a massive ego, and his family only supports that. There's no abuse going an and he is no puppet. People need to stop adding 'depth' to a character when it ruins them.

The whole point is that Byakuya is an asshole. An asshole who slowly changes and becomes better. But he isn't soft or insecure, so don't act like he is.

While I like Byakuya's redemption arc, part of me wants to see him truly give in to the side of him we saw in Chapter 2. I want him to be awful, to maybe even try to get on Junko's side. I'd kill to read a fic like that.
