Lumine  stood  at  the  edge  of  the  town  she  was  currently  exploring,  the  crimson  sky  of  the  twilight  casting  long,  flickering  shadows  across  her  pale  features.  Her  golden  eyes,  once  so  full  of  warmth,  now  gleamed  with  an  eerie  intensity  as  her  freedom  from  duty  was  fervently  ended  by  a  mirroring  figure  in  the  distance.  A  figure  that  she'd  done  well  to  offer  a  dance  just  out  of  his  reach;  however,  it  seems  even  in  a  new  land  he's  finally  bridged  the  gap.   Aether.  Her  twin.  Her  other  half.  Her  expression  was  unreadable,  caught  between  lingering  affection  and  the  cold  resolve  of  someone  who  had  walked  too  far  down  a  dark  path  to  turn  back.
âSo...  even  here  you  finally  came,â  she  said  quietly,  her  voice  echoing seemingly  through  the  towns  noise.  âI  wondered  how  long  it  would  take  you  to  find  your  way  here,  after  chasing  answers  in  a  world  that  never  wanted  to  give  them  to  you.â  She  tilted  her  head  slightly,  studying  him  with  a  sorrowful  kind  of  curiosity.Â
Arriving here had only seemed like a fever dream for him - as if this place was nothing more than just another domain he had found himself tangled within. Another place created by đšđłđ°đȘđŹ herself for mere amusement. Just another đđąđŠđźđ„đđ§đ€đ, another đđđ„đźđ«đąđČđđŠ đđąđ«đđ đ, or maybe even another đđšđ„đđđ§ đđ©đ©đ„đ đđ«đđĄđąđ©đđ„đđ đš. And if that was the case, that's how he planned to treat this place; Nothing more than another summer spent doing yet another adventure within another limited domain, another lesson he was suppose to learn about. That that was the whole point of this; Of being here, of being by himself this time. With Paimon left behind in Teyvat, waiting eagerly for his arrival back.
Or maybe the actuality of this place was truly nothing more than dream. A desperate dream that he's been searching for, yearning for, ever since he woke up along the beachshore a few years prior, on a planet he has no recollection of. A dream that's he's been chasing the remnants of, still, after all this time. Even now while fingers clutched tightly around the compass that was hidden within the palm of his hand, his heart coming to a halt. Afraid that if he was to let another breath go, this dream would come to shattering halt that would end up leaving him empty once more when he woke up again. And there in his dream are the same matching golden hues that he's only seen glimpses of, momentary moments that they were able to be in the same space as the other. Fingers continue to clutch tightly onto the same compass that had been lying beside when he first woke up here. The same compass he decided on a whim to follow today. ' A compass that always points to your hearts desires ', a voice hold him before waking up. A compass and a dream that had lead him to the very same cliffside, the fading sun and welcoming twilight painting the current scene for them.
"Lumine...?" comes out croaked, in a broken tremble, not sure if his mind is just playing illusions on him once more, was this nothing more just a mere dream, or if this was real for him. How many times had he wishes to be reunited with his twin again? How many nights had he spent wishing away to a false sky, and false lords for that chance while knowing he would go unanswered, unheard. Is this the lesson he's supposed to learn this time? Is she the lesson? "Lumine... what are you doing here?" emphasizes on the here, because he himself is still not too entirely sure where here is, truthfully.
a sound of amusement is returned despite their gloomy circumstance. why, it isn't every day he finds himself reacquainted with an old friend, all things considered. certainly there's much more to glean of this supposed paradise than what simplicities present themselves on the surface. of course, kaeya remains diligent enough to immerse himself in such a way the cavalry captain just so happens to procure his particular findings without the necessity of 'giving' back.
a good meal just so happens to be one of those things... but for a special acquaintance, more so, a good friend at that, he's allowing a touch of leniency where due. it just so happens he'd chosen to peruse one of the cafes he hadn't tried yet-the perfect place for rekindling an old bond, no?
â come on, sit down. still struggling with how this place works? don't overthink it, friend. some things are best kept at their most straightforward, after all. order whatever you'd like, my treat. â
It doesn't escape Aether the sudden change in topic; the simple and simultaneous transition from the mere mention of being fated to be doomed together, to commenting now about sharing a meal and explaining the mechanisms of this world. But he too will digress, leaving the prior conversation for now. Afterall, the both of them have many hidden stories that either of them have fully admitted to aloud, nor to each other. Now probably wasn't the best time for that conversation either. One day though, one day in the future, they will bare their souls to each other and reveal the truths of the world that has become left behind.
"This place reminds me of a highly advance version of how Fontaine looks and operates," he chooses to say instead while reaching for the menu. Many of the offered plates looked delicious actually, which makes him momentarily think about Paimon. She would absolutely take Kaeya on his offer and order the whole menu. But she isn't here currently, and there's an ache the lodge in his heart for her absence. "Have you gotten the chance to go there yet? I imagine the knights would be interested in some of their imports and technology, as well as maybe some of their wines. Maybe even find a way to bring some of their shows and theaters over to Mondstat. I know a wonderful director-slash-actress who would probably be interested in the travels."
500 years apart
@viotor // âĄ'd for one-liner!
â hahaha... who knows, perhaps we're fated to be doomed together. â
"Fated to be doomed together..." Considering all that they've been through up until this point; all that he's learned thus far of the past of one world to the current day, and how they've even managed to find each other summoned to a new world together ( again ), one might think that Istaroth is really playing a trick on them. That fate really is trying to pair them together for such a thing.
Yet, a chuckle becomes elicited from him instead, the corner of his lips curling upwards to form a small smile of sorts. "Then, maybe, we should make sure we change those fates together, and make sure that we're not doomed instead."
