૪) લીવર ની બીમારી માં SGPT ટેસ્ટ ની સાથે ક્યારેક લીવર ફંકશન ટેસ્ટ તરીકે ઓળખાતા અન્ય ટેસ્ટ જેવા કે SGOT, BILIRUBIN, ALP, GAMMA GT, HEPATITIS PANEL પણ કરાવવા માં આવે છે.

૫) SGPT ટેસ્ટ સામાન્ય રીતે 5 થી 40 યુનિટ્સ/લિટર હોય છે. અને કેટલાક કિસ્સાઓ માં ૬૦ કે ૭૦ સુધીનું લેવલ પણ નોર્મલ ગણવામાં આવે છે.

૬) દરેક લેબોરેટરી માં વપરાતા મશીન, ટેક્નિક અને કેમિકલ પ્રમાણે તે લેબોરેટરી એક રેફરેન્સ લેવલ સ્થાપિત કરતી હોય છે અને રિપોર્ટ માં દર્દી ના SGPT લેવલ ની બાજુમાં તેનું રેફરેન્સ લેવલ લખતી હોય છે.

૭) તમારું SGPT ટેસ્ટ નું રિઝલ્ટ નોર્મલ છે કે એબ્નોર્મલ તે ડોક્ટર લેબોરેટરી નું રેફરેન્સ લેવલ અને દર્દી ના રોગો ને લગતા લક્ષણો જોઈને તથા જરૂર લાગે તો અન્ય ટેસ્ટ કરીને પછી નક્કી કરે છે. તેથી દર્દીએ ફક્ત SGPT ટેસ્ટ નું લેબોરેટોરી રિપોર્ટ ની લેવલ વાંચીને પોતાને લીવર ની બીમારી છે કે નહિ તે નક્કી કરી લેવું ના જોઈએ.

૮) SGPT ટેસ્ટ નું લેવલ વધારે હોય તો દરેક કિસ્સા માં જરૂરી નથી કે લીવર ની બીમારી હોય, અન્ય કારણો પણ હોય શકે છે, જે ડોક્ટર દર્દી ને તપાસી નક્કી કરે છે.

FIRST 3D-PRINTED PILL APPROVED BY US AUTHORITIES | Vip lab

The FDA has previously approved medical devices – including prosthetics – that have been 3D printed.

The new drug, dubbed Spritam, was developed by Aprecia Pharmaceuticals has developed new drug Spritam, used in epilepsy to control seizures. The advantage of 3 D Printing of a drug is that it allows layers of medication to be packaged more tightly with precise dosages and upto 1000 mgs can be packed in single tablet, which may make it easier to swallow high dosages.

The company Aprecia Pharmaceutical has also developed a technology to make swallowing of high dose medications easer. The technology is known as ZipDose and the company plans to bring more drugs into 3D printing technology.

While 3D printed tablets are compactly packaged, while dissolving it behaves similarly to the other oral tablets.

Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) | Vip Lab

ESR or Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate is a blood test which helps to detect the presence of inflammation caused by one or more conditions such as infections, tumors or autoimmune diseases; to help diagnose and monitor specific conditions such as temporal arteritis, systemic vasculitis, polymyalgia rheumatica, or rheumatoid arthritis.

Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) is a blood test. It measures how quickly erythrocytes, or red blood cells, separate from a blood sample that has been treated so the blood will not clot. During this test, a small amount of your blood will be put in an upright tube. A lab specialist will measure the rate that your red blood cells settle toward the bottom of the tube after 1 hour.

If you have a condition that causes inflammation or cell damage, your red blood cells tend to clump together. This makes them heavier, so they settle faster. The faster your red blood cells settle and fall, the higher your ESR. A high ESR tells your healthcare provider that you may have an active disease process in your body.

Many things that are not active diseases can increase your ESR. These include:

Pregnancy

Old age

Being female

Having a menstrual period

Having recently eaten a fatty meal

Being obese

Taking certain medicines

Your doctor might order the sed rate or ESR test if you have symptoms like:

Headaches

Stiff joints

Pain in your shoulders, neck, or pelvis

Appetite loss

Weight loss without trying

The sed rate test can be part of the process of discovering if you have one of these conditions:

TOTAL WBC OR WHITE BLOOD CELL COUNT AS A PART OF HEMOGRAM OR CBC BLOOD TEST

A white blood cell (WBC) count of less than 4 x 109/L indicates leukopenia.

A WBC count of more than 11 x 109/L indicates leukocytosis.

Decreased WBC count, leukopenia, is seen when supply is depleted by infection or treatment such as chemotherapy or radiation therapy, or when a hematopoietic stem cell abnormality does not allow normal growth/maturation within the bone marrow, such as myelodysplastic syndrome or leukemia. Leukopenia (decrease in WBC) is most often due to a lower number of neutrophils, referred to as neutropenia. Characteristically, the neutrophil count is less than 1.5 x 109/L.

Elevated WBC, leukocytosis, is seen in response to infection, stress, inflammatory disorders (referred to as reactive leukocytosis), or abnormal production as in leukemia. An increased WBC count can be due to an individual cell component or a combination, depending on the cause. Malaise, chills, and fever, related to infection, are clinically seen in both leukopenia and neutrophilic leukocytosis.

Reactive leukocytosis can be classified on the basis of the white blood cell type affected. Criteria as well as common causes are below.

Neutrophilic leukocytosis occurs when neutrophils are greater than 7.5 x 109/L. Common causes are as follows:

Acute bacterial infections

Sterile inflammation/tissue necroses seen in myocardial infarction, burns, crush injuries.

Eosinophilic leukocytosis occurs when eosinophils are greater than 0.4 x 109/L. Common causes are as follows:

Allergic disorders such as asthma, hay fever

Parasitic infections

Drug reactions

Basophilic leukocytosis occurs when basophils are greater than 0.1 x 109/L. Causes include rare allergic reactions (IgE mediated).

Monocytosis occurs when monocytes are greater than 0.8 x 109/L. Common causes include the following:

Chronic infections such as tuberculosis

Bacterial endocarditis

Rickettsiosis

Malaria

Collagen vascular disease

Inflammatory bowel disease

Lymphocytosis occurs when lymphocytes are greater than 3.5 x 109/L. Common causes are as follows:

Accompanies monocytosis

Viral infections such as hepatitis A, cytomegalovirus (CMV), Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)

Bordetella pertussis

Neoplastic proliferations of white blood cells also cause leukocytosis. These are the malignant proliferations of abnormal clones of white blood cells within the bone marrow that are broadly categorized into lymphoid and myeloid neoplasms depending on the type of white cell proliferation. These malignancies are further characterized by the maturity and differentiation of the individual cell types and are divided into acute leukemias such as acute myeloid leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia and chronic leukemias such as chronic myeloid leukemia and chronic lymphocytic leukemia.
