#2 MY COMPLAIN -INDIAN MEDIA & SOCIETY
It’s not wrong to say that Media has a great hand in creating modern society & life of a common man in the present time. Media keeps updated people about all the situations around the universe. As per my point of view Role of Media is very important in our life which is getting deteriorated day by day by INDIAN MEDIA itself.
First we have to blame ourselves & than government & media houses. We altogether are responsible for this.
I love the era of 90’s & some years of 2000-2003. When Media reported news like news and treated news in its original form.
News channels, newspapers presented news in a proper way, by both complimenting & criticizing the people, government, organizations etc related to its origin. Main Backbone of Media in those days was Reporters which are now a day’s replaced by so called actors-cum-ANCHOR’S/ Soap Actors.
Healthy, right news is in coma now a day’s & manipulative, misguiding, irresponsible news overtaking the healthy mind of ours & our society. Those were the days in 90’s when news reporter & news anchor presented the news on DD NATIONAL in right way- normal tone, non repeating lines, getting focus of people on content of news.
No advertisement in between the news, those 30 minutes of DD NATIONAL news 15 minutes each for English & Hindi news delivers all news from politics to sports, from weather report to world news successfully. Newspaper headlines were not influenced by some mass group of person. Headlines font was average as needed & news area was large on paper. Criticism was welcomed & very few incident lead to trouble created by news reporting.
There was sense of responsibility by news reporter; they know at that time what news is important for society, which has to be headlines. Even in crucial times like 1984’ 1989-92 even if political pressure was there not to cover the news, News agencies were independent enough to write & report the right content.
1999 Kargil war was reported in right way, no spiced up news were reported by media that time & openly criticized the weak policies of government which were accepted in right way sometimes with silence & sometimes with debate.
But with the growth of media, TRP devil, Social networking, internet, Mobile phones -*WHATS APP*etc REAL news reporting got paralysis.
WORST PEOPLE in media industry leading news reporting, it’s more of business oriented run firm now a day’s more than News reporting agency. What news to be presented is decided by business CEO or CEO of Head of channel rather than importance of news!
Daily soap Actors/ loud characters/ shouting anchors delivers news in dramatic way 30 minutes of news program on various channels is half eaten(15 minutes) by advertisements of sponsor’s, 10 minutes continuous shouting of news anchor with repeating lines & visuals. And last 5 minutes holds the exact information of news which lost the viewer attention because of all of above.
Issue of Film’s topic for example like Padmavati – Padmavat is more important for Media houses, News channels, news papers & People of Rajasthan & some other parts as its pride factor for Queen/Female of their region rather than focusing on very poor declining Female Sex ratio, Female child abortion, rapes of minor & adult females.
So media houses will report this news almost 10 hours a day out of 24 hours, showing people on TV which do not deserve to be on TV for entire life.
Drought zones, Farmers Suicides/ strike are not important to them which were also happening side by side.
Beef issue is one other major curse to our media & Society, people carrying cattle’s like Cow/ OX are victims of mob lynching, as it’s a sacred animals of ME + us/ HINDU RELIGION. But who gave authority to such mob’s / group associations to do mob lynching, to kill someone by brutally beating to death. We live in a democratic country; there is Law & order for everything. News channels repeating this news over & over again is not looking for solution but just promoting fear among viewers. Tiger is also sacred animal as it is – MATA KI SAVARI no one raises protest for them, only less than 1450 tigers remaining in India. Isn’t that against Hinduism? Hunting of tigers still on so as of others animals. Why no protest for them? Why News channels don’t raise this question apart from World environment/ World Animal Day?
Fear of asking Government Question about these mob lynching is there among media houses rest are influenced by government as they are related to political leaders by one or the another way.
All will report pollution & plastic Garbage issue, Swachta Abhiyan run by government but no media house/channel/newspaper/agencies will ask government why the PLASTIC MANUFACTURING is still on & not banned immediately? The real question/ origin of news is not delivered to the viewer of India. & hence Indian people are totally fooled & manipulated in wrong direction which is very harmful for our society, generations to some.
Why WHATS APP / SOCAIL NETWROKING rumors are turning into news on these news channels? Why there is no self responsibility of these news channels?
Why they shout while presenting the news on channel?
For me most Foolish & Idiot way of journalism & News reporting incident I have ever seen was 26 NOVEMBER 2008 – MUMBAI ATTACKS!
That is the Shameful & DARKEST day in Indian News Media. These Stupid news channels like AAJ TAK, ZEE NEWS, INDIA TV, STAR NEWS now –ABP news etc were showing live coverage of attacks, military rescue/ counter attack operations live. Even when they themselves were broadcasting live that Terrorist has satellite phones & they are receiving instructions from PAKISTAN while they are watching same live news channels.
I was almost sleepless for 26 NOV – 28 NOV 2008. After two days of foolish & stupid reporting these news channels decided to cut live telecast of operations which was too late. Just to gain TRP these news channels were selfish & sold their souls for nothing in the end. I have no respect for them. They have not learned any lesson from that & they still do the same stupid thing.
This incident will remain in my mind forever & I am witness that only DD NATIONAL, DD NEWS were not reporting live feeds of operations. NDTV was also another channel who stopped live telecast of operations within 24-28 hours from the start of attacks. VINOD DUA that time associated with NDTV announced on TV that they will not telecast live operations from Mumbai.
Indian News channel should learn from foreign nations news channels, they never report live telecast most of the times & they show max questions against government policies which lead to these kind of attacks & solution for future. Asking question in people mind also.
Indian News papers are turning to entertainment news more that solid news reporting. Main Issues of present time are either not covered on front page & if its covered somewhere in paper that its somewhere in small box/ column.
Print media also losing its reputation of good news reporting. This also with concerned with the taste of people of India, What they want to read that’s how our society has turned into wrong direction.
Coverage of floods, non-electricity, pollution, population, poverty, farmer suicides / protest is done like daily soap but no questioned asked from government in fear, what they do in 5 year of their governance to overcome it. Why we are still seeing all these issues from past 70+ years. WHY METRO cities like GURGAON / GURUGRAM are merged in water when it rains?
Why DELHI people have to wear 3.5M Mask almost every day of the year? What are Government plans for Indian people in real? Why River Yamuna is Black in color? Why Gangotri is shrinking every year? Why River GANGA is still polluted even after government policy to clean it? They will never ask these questions on news channel apart from 1 or 2 news channels.
To give you another example these news channels will interview same person Baba RAMDEV also Brand ambassador of SWACHH BAHRAT, Swachh Ganag Yojna again & again complementing him for Patanjali – A swadeshi movement success but they will never ask him why all his product comes in plastic packing which after usage by Indian peoples turn plastic garbage? All his product are manufactured by Machines how come he claim that it’s fully Aayurvedic/Herbal, SWADESHI & have no preservatives/ chemicals? This is the type of news reporting we are viewing & making fools of ourselves.
These Filmy news channels are covering news of 2019 & 2024 Elections prediction right from 2014. How stupid is that? & how easy to divert Indian people focus from their current issues/problems?
I have much more to say but, I will keep this on you to decide what kind of change we want in News reporting- DAILY SOAP TYPE or the Ugly truth re real news reporting.
