Kanto's Champion Returns
His whole being was telling him to get up and unhook the wires and tubes that where strapped to him but Green pushing him down made him think. Was he really that bad off? He couldn’t remember the last time he ate nor what the date was. Sighing he figured he could stay here a bit longer if Green wanted him to it was warmer down here anyway and the blankets and bed were a nice change over the hard ground he usually slept on once everything checked out again he’d go back to his home atop Mount Silver. He glanced over at Green his crimson hues suddenly sad as he remember the reason why he’d left in the first place.
Pikachu jumped out from under the trainer and cuddled into his neck again happily this time as he noted that his trainer was going to make it though. “Pi! Pika Pi Pi!” He chirped looking up at Green the rodent was hopeful seeing Red awake for the first time in days.
“That chair doesn’t look very comfy Greenbeans.” He hummed using Greens old nickname from when they were kids, it brought back memories for Red just being able to be in the same room as him though it was odd that Green was being nice to him. He had to wonder if his mom had told him about his sickness. No she wouldn’t have done that she promised. Daisy had told him to be a normal kid so he doubted she would have told on him. Shrugging he decided it didn’t matter if Green knew or not.
Was it possible that Green really did care for him even after all those years? Red shook his head violently to clear those thought. No no way would he think Green and him were friends after six years of not speaking and after Green had told him that his life would have been better off if Red never existed. Scooting over to the edge of the bed he patted the open area and sighed. “Come lay up here dummy or you’re going to hurt your back.” He was worried about Green getting hurt as well as wanting some human contact after being gone for forever and he didn’t care who he got it from though his former best friend would probably be better than asking a nurse to lay with him.
“What are you doing here anyway…? …I though’ ya hated me.” He looked up again those sad eyes looking up at Green waiting for the conformation that this was either a dream or that Red was only a nuisance on Green and how much the elder wanted him gone. Tears started pricking the corners of his eyes as he looked away unable to meet the others gaze now.
Pikachu frowned looking over to Green before wiping a paw at Red’s eyes. “Piii….” The little electric rodent murmured before nuzzling his face again Red’s and sighing.
Seeing Red awake, well at least conscious, in his condition was relieving yet at the same time ripped him apart inside. To be honest he looked like an alien with all those tubes and wired extending from his body like they were extra appendages. His eyes couldn't help bit repeatedly scan Red's scraggly frame, or at least what he could see of it through all those blankets. "It's alright really, i'm fine." Green shook his head and held out an arm, deciding to scoot closer to the side of Red's bed. A small smile formed on his face as he noted how happy Pikachu looked with his master fully awake and alive. "I can't lay up there, you need all the space you can get, just stay comfortable and relax." He hummed, about to reach a hand out to pat Red's shoulder when the ravens second statement came out.
That's right...their fight. He really didn't think Red would take it so seriously, or at least hoped he wouldn't. It wasn't meant to be taken seriously. Though the tears prickling up in Red's eyes when he brought it up proved his fear, along with breaking his heart even further. Was he really the reason Red was in this situation? He couldn't be, this couldn't be his fault, Red chose to do this to himself. He could have realized he was just an angry winy kid.
"...Red I don't hate you, I don't know why you let yourself get this silly idea in your head. Yeah I said some pretty...awful things back then but, I was mad. I was mad at my gramps, I was mad at you, I was even mad at my Pokemon, but I was mostly mad at myself. Loosing like that just...ate me up. And then the fact that you were so willing to just give the title back to me like it was a pity prize and the title meant nothing..." He trailed off, really not wanting to finish that thought.
Silence set in for a few long minuets as Green tried to think about what to say. Red was in a fragile state of mind right now. He couldn't go scaring the boy back off to his mountain again. Hi eyes looked down t his jacket pocket as he remembered Charlotte's Pokeball. Reaching inside he pulled the capsule out and gingerly reached out, setting it near the trainer. "You have other people to thank too you know, not just me. If it weren't for Pikachu running all the way down to find me I don't think I would have known where you were. And had it not been for your Charizard we wouldn't have made it down the mountain."
Emerald eyes glanced back at the ground as the silence set in once again, however not for very long. "I don't hate you Red...don't think that. I'm honestly glad to see you back and alive. If you would have died up there I...I don't think i'd be able to live with the guilt." Well he could, but it would be hard.
