151013 HAPPY JIMIN DAY!!
So "they don't know 'bout us" came from a night after work where Jimin and Namjoon were talking and the phrase "you make me weak" came out. The idea is that because fans treat the members like they're perfect that leaves them with no room for growth which makes them weak and fans don't know how weak they are made to be because of it.
It's completely unsurprising to me that Jimin would write a song based on this feeling. He's know for always saying he wants to improve and in this same Rolling Stone interview he's asked about being a perfectionist and he says that he doesn't think he's a perfectionist and it's more that he has the desire to do well and that to him letting go of that desire feels like wanting to quit all together. So it's not that he's a perfectionist or that he's too hard on himself but that he understands that if you think you're already perfect and you don't acknowledge you weaknesses you can't grow and become better.
I even think that this is at the root of what he was trying to express in that livestream he did after the first day of the tour. He has a very high standard when it comes to his work and if things don't measure up to those standards he will be disappointed and frustrated. Even if whatever is wrong isn't entirely or even at all his fault, he's still putting his name and face on things fans are paying money for so he will not try to escape the responsibility he has to make sure those things are up to standard.
But I don't think fans properly understand this. Whenever he's apologetic and expresses regret and disappointment with his work fans always default to saying that it's never his fault, that he's perfect and has nothing to ever feel sorry about. Fans don't realize that isn't really what he wants to hear and that instead of feeling happy and relieved hearing these things he probably just feels frustrated that fans don't understand why he says what he says and why he feels the need to say it. He might feel like fans don't understand him they way they might think they do, i.e., they don't know 'bout him.
I think this is such a relevant topic considering how armys have been aggressively against any and all cristiscm for this comeback to the extent they don't just reject criticism towards the members but even towards anyone else involved in any part of the comeback. And I myself was thinking that fans don't seem to realize how this behavior just prevents an artist from becoming better either because some artists let the endless praise and lack of criticism get to their heads and stop trying to improve or because even though they do want to improve, from their place in the inside it can be hard to know what isn't working and they need those on the outside, especially fans, to let them know what needs to change or be done better which is impossible if fans act like it's a crime to say anything even remotely negative.
Unfortunately I don't think most armys will get the message, just like they didn't when Jimin did that livestream (instead a lot of them decided to start writing angst fics about him briefly complaining about his hair). No, they'll probably just hyperfocus on him saying the group is his top priority (ignoring that the reason he said that in the first place was to explain that even though that's how he feels he still has ambitions as an individual) and use that quote to gloat to solos instead.

I think what is off with the show isn't even just less choreos bc you can decrease choreos and make it work but something else gotta be there to compensate. Bts are primarily a performance group so people expect them to put on a big performance. That can mean things like props or a live band and we know they can do it bc they've done it before. Like they had an entire sets for different songs and those might seem like small things but it really adds to the performance. A little bit of scenarios helps too like how for black swan during the ptd tour they had the backup dancer starts with the feathers and then jimin appears and then the group joins him. Then the setlist: if you have less choreos you gotta spread them through the setlist and not just put the few choreos together in one part of the show. I think people know bts can do better than that so that's also why it's a bit more jarring to see since this is a bit of a letdown so far. It's a very long tour so it's understandable if they try to pace themselves and I expected less chores anyways but the issue is when the quality of the show goes down. Anyways there is always room for improvement and they will get the feedback and it's up to them to do what they want with it. I get armys being protective bc bts get hate but at the same time I really dislike the toxic positivity mindset they have where you have to pretend to like everything until you basically convince yourself you do and hunt down anyone who dare have contrasting opinions about it. It's not helpful for anyone, not even bts. It's not like all is bad. I think vocally they sound better here for ex but the production and lack of performance issue remains. Only so much walking around people can take. I think the rush to put out both the album and tour didn't help either. And regarding jimin I don't think it's down to hating or liking everything like one anon mentioned. I'm sure he has his issues with certain aspects while he likes others but it's a group work and they have so many people beyond the group also being involved so it's not that easy bc it's not a case where he will have everything he personally wants. In the end he loves performing so obviously he will enjoy doing that. Idk why some are surprised by it. He still hinted at his concerns regarding the choices during the lives and his openness to feedback and wanting to put on a show his fans like and that's prob as far as he will share on this for now and that's fine too.

I can’t even say it eloquently but I’m so full of love for Jimin right now. I don’t even know how to explain what I’m feeling. And it’s not even because of how beautiful he looked or how good he sounded or anything related to his career. It’s just because of him as a person. So selfless, so mature and responsible, so empathetic.
I sound so parasocial right now but I just cannot get over how many performers will go on stage and half ass everything, and they won’t care at all (or not enough) about how disappointed their fans are. The same fans who spend a ton of money on tickets, on transportation and accommodations just to see them. And it’s not justification but it’s just natural to sort of be desensitized to that stuff after over a decade in this career. How much can you care? How long can it all feel just as important and precious as the early days?
But then here’s Jimin, who comes online late at night, at a time he doesn’t usually, because he’s worried about how fans felt. Here’s Jimin, one of the most popular members of the biggest band in the world, visibly uncomfortable but pushing through because he wants to comfort fans and communicate to them clearly. Here’s Jimin, who feels like he can only sleep peacefully if he knows his fans are happy and satisfied and you can tell he means it. He doesn’t play cold, detached, or “above” that as a celebrity of his status is expected.
This is the same Jimin who originally thought to make his debut album free. The same Jimin who has constantly pointed out how much money fans spend. The same one who is constantly telling them to not get a cold, to be careful, to not worry if they can’t afford something or if they can’t access things the correct way, because he’ll love them anyway. Who writes paragraphs to his fans to give them advice, who tears up when he sees how much he and the group have given to people, who looks out at the crowd every night they perform and has a moment of pure awe.
He’s just so in touch with his emotions and humanity in an industry that seems intent on stripping every one of it. I’ve always said that the reason why Jimin’s fans are so dedicated is because they don’t just love him as an artist. They don’t just love him for his skills, or his stage presence, or his vocals, his dance, his numbers and achievements. Because as much as they love all of those things, they love, perhaps even more, who he is as a PERSON. And it’s not just for say or for show. It’s real, genuine admiration for who he is and how he’s presented himself consistently all this time.
His recent livestream just reaffirmed that for me.
I really cannot sing Jimin’s praises enough in regard to how he navigates being a performer and artist. Not an ounce of toxic ego in that man. If he knows he did well with something, he’ll take that and still try to improve on it instead of being complacent and staying stagnant
If something doesn’t go well, he acknowledges it and works on getting better without pitying himself or seeking sympathy for it. And just strives to always give it his all. It’s so inspiring to me you don’t understand.
Literally the perfect idol, great person with an amazing work ethic and mindset. I’ll never stop saying it.
No cause that’s really it. If the rest of the members are so much better than Jimin like their solos have been proclaiming they are, then they wouldn’t need to be fighting so hard for visibility.
It’s the same thing with Jimin’s chart metrics. Automatically saying he’s getting heavy company support because he does well and thinking that’s the only way he could have. When in fact HYBE continues to fuck him over the most with their lack of backing him.
Y’all have been finding out in real time that Jimin has always been the natural star of the group. It’s never been fans or people getting told he’s supposed to be like HYBE has been lying about and doing with Jungkook for years to push their own agenda. They just know Jimin is because that’s how he carries himself and that’s just how good of a performer he is. Y’all are upset that he continues to stand out after years of believing your own propaganda and now yall feel the need to scramble to come up with a reason why to satisfy your discontent with your bias not getting recognized.
But once again that’s not Jimin’s problem.
I'M GOING CRAZY
jimin on embracing solitude ♡
I've always dreamt about Jimin with long hair but I never thought I would see the day when it finally actually happens. So imagine how thrilled I am right now. All the fansite pictures are going to feed me for the rest of my life.
I love that video of jimin talking about swim because it is confirmation that he'll always know how to pick his title tracks. Like he actually thinks of the fans a lot. He's found the perfect balance of putting out what he likes and what the fans would prefer.
Sometimes It feels like he's the only one thinking about how their decisions are perceived. I believe he always thinks, "If I was a fan, what would I think of this?"
YES, he does this a lot. he really takes into consideration how everything will be perceived/received by fans. it makes me remember about that time he was working on the artist's merch and making the hoodie and he really thought about how his fanbase is made mostly of women and how a hoodie would look in a woman's body, it's a little detail but so important to have those type of stuff in mind mostly when you have such a big fanbase that is expecting a lot from you. jimin truly found the perfect balance between doing what he likes and doing what the fans/public wants, he talked about this when releasing muse too he said that he didn't know if fans would like it but that he liked the album but in that same album is "who" that i think it's such a perfect choice of a title track like of course it was going to be loved, he's so good at making that type of decision.
all of this makes me so excited for jimin's next album because with every new release all he does is grow and he's getting better and better at everything
snow white jimin strikes again
he is so so so beautiful and i love him so so so much
Feel like I’m currently experiencing a Jimin renaissance and it’s different from all the other times Jimin went viral because those moments were still attached to BTS in some way, but for Dior at pfw, it was completely his own moment. And it still felt a lot different from pfw 2023 as well.
And I feel vindicated about it. Not because it was needed to “prove” anything to anybody. But in times where you have the rest of these idols needing to leech off western collabs, skulk around other celebrities for relevance or force success by other means and still not stick. Jimin stands as a testament to artists that just have unimpeachable it factor.
This man who has always just been himself and just wants to be the best version of that. Like you look at all these videos and pics that came out of the event and I feel like I’m seeing Jimin at his peak. And not like “peak” in a sense of he won’t get any better from this point on, but peak as in he’s really come into himself. Like that’s JIMIN.
