victorconstantin:
It wasn’t typical of Victor to visit a fast food joint, but he was far too hungover to operate a coffee maker. Hopefully the grease of a sausage McMuffin would soak up the remains of last night’s scotch that permeated the bottom of his stomach, too.
The tattoo artist’s eyes were red and stinging, the headache he was suffering washed over him like a monsoon and the fluorescent lights were quite a ғυcĸιɴɢ hindrance. He slouched in a booth and gulped down a large, black coffee, scrolling through tattooartisthub.com, the only website that existed in Victor’s small, technophobic mind (save for explicit materials, obviously). Every noise that he heard; crying children, whining parents, …the click-clack of a keyboard… grated on him.
Slowly, Victor turned his head to see a girl in the booth over, typing away. Should he say anything? Likely not. If he was too hungover to pour himself a cup of coffee, he was certainly unprepared for a bickering match with some brat. For a few more moments, he scrolled and penned a very insightful forum post about the use of titanium white ink versus light grey for highlighting purposes. Until, after a loud exclamation from behind him, Victor leaned over the meridian and said, with some tone of frustration in his words: “Mind quieting down about your dragon slaying victory or some’at?” Video games were all people really did with computers, anyways, he was sure. The man rolled back into his seat, hoping this wouldn’t be the start of some quarrel, as he’d rather walk into traffic than hear another human voice right now.
To say she noticed the man should be reiterated--- Cameron saw his tattoos. She loved tattoos, though she only had the one, the code for Pestilence on her wrist, but she still admired all the artwork that a person could fit onto their one personal, permanent canvas. Then he had positioned himself just out of her view with his food, and that was the end of her admiring gaze, one that was NOT easily mistaken for fawning over a man. Just his tattoos interested her.
Until he had to make an ass of himself. The woman, shocked and gaping, took her child in the opposite direction, not without a snigger from the brunette. Taking another bite of her burger, she returned to finishing her code, and then was stopped again. Fingers paused on their keys, eyes flitting up to the tattooed man with a glare as he reprimanded her. Who the fuck does he think he is? Before she could throw a snarky comeback at him, he was dropping back into his seat of tacky pleather. What a dick. Then she heard it, the tell-tale clicking of keys, a pause, and then some more. The dick had a computer. What could she do with a computer? Lots.
Dipping a couple fries into ketchup and cramming them into her mouth, she saved her code file for later, and then pulled up her self-devised program. A hub, of sorts. In most cases, she could turn to this simple little device and get anything and everything done with it. What she planned to do now was nothing out of the ordinary, considered children’s play by her standards. The guy was an ass--- all she planned to do was make it publicly known, right here in this fancy lil’ McDonald’s.
khalidahmadi:
Being around Cameron wasn’t only convenient because of the way the two of them could help each other when it came to Pestilence business, or even personal ones. The girl’s company was pleasant to Khalid, drugs or no drugs – not that the weed didn’t help out considerably – and seeing as he had very little to do that afternoon after the talk he had given at his old uni, Khalid was more than satisfied to lay around on her apartment talking about nothing at all, putting his brain to rest for once. The man took the joint offered to him, taking his sweet time with the drag, blowing the smoke towards the ceiling. At her words, Khalid snorted. “ A bus ticket? Who do you think I am? ” It was arrogant but it was the truth – Khalid didn’t remember the last time he had travelled anywhere by any means other than a plane. “ Besides, if it’s for me to get out of this place, I’m going to take a proper trip. Should take you and Beckett to Bali or summat, ” he pondered, passing over the joint so he could take a slice of pizza as well. “ You think Famine would survive without her for a few days? ”
Ah, yes. There it was. That ego Cameron just couldn’t get enough of. Still, she cracked a smile and a laugh, setting back down her slice of pizza and reclining on her couch. It was nice to do this sort of thing, especially with a friend who went through the same mental stimulation she did. Working as a part of Pestilence was a blessing, but man did it consume their time. There was always some scandal to expose, or information to keep from being leaked, or some other task that was handed down among the ranks. Romania was teeming with corruption, which was just fine with Cameron. It gave her something to do, something to feel fulfilled about. Making friends and finding a second family was just a bonus along the way.
At the mention of Bali, she nearly choked. “I would LOVE to go to Bali. I’ve never been! I mean, I’ve thought about wiring some money to my account from some rich dick’s bank, but the paper trail is messy and not always worth it for a trip, y’know?” Flicking some ash off onto a tray on the table, she took another hit and attempted a few smoke rings, which never really worked with pot smoke, but still. “Oh, definitely. Now that she’s a big, bad Commander, she can do whatever the fuck she wants. If that’s not enough--- we’ll think of something.” After a beat, exclaiming like it was a genius idea, “We could KIDNAP her!”
🎵 for me to shuffle my playlist and use my favorite line of the next song as a starter
@khalidahmadi
“Autumn’s sweet; we call it Fall,” Cameron conversed, head tilted back slightly with hooded eyes as she let out the plume of smoke she was holding in. Across from her on the other couch in her apartment was Khalid, who she leaned forward to in order to pass over the joint they were sharing. It was a bitterly cold day, as made evident when she went downstairs to get their pizza and mozzarella sticks, and she was still swearing when she returned from the trip. If only it was any other season already... or winter just didn’t exist. Even so, the Ahmadi still decided to come over so they both wouldn’t be bored and home alone. It was a lot more fun to have a conversation with someone other than yourself anyway. She took another slice of pizza and bit into it as though she hadn’t already had three pieces. “We should try to go out to the coast this summer, actually get out of the city and DO something. I’m sure we could forge some fake bus tickets and make a free ride outta it.”
To be honest, this particular fro-yo store, while so fucking delicious, was not a place Cameron frequented. For one, it was on the complete opposite side of the city, which meant a half hour cab ride and she just did not have the patience, no matter how scrumptious all their flavors were. It became something of a treat to herself whenever she’d go there, managing to keep herself entertained long enough for the trip but not on a regularly basis. The best was when she could get her cup of pomegranate fro-yo to sit out on the patio and enjoy a half tobacco, half pot blunt. She could swear that order lasted for HOURS. In reality, she probably savored every taste and gazed off into the distance.
What made this particular visit so disappointing was the staff fucking up her order, and then demanding she pay for it a second time. “Are you fucking kidding me?!” She snapped, eyes narrowing. She was the most threatening when it came to food. “No. No way, uh-uh, fat chance. Any other way you need me to say it? AIN’T GONNA HAPPEN.” To dot her crudeness, she started spitting gibberish, pretending to speak Romanian in case they still didn’t get that she was “---not gonna pay for this shit!”

The only thing that seemed to make an impression anymore was the EXTREME. Seven schools in seven states and the only thing that was ever different was the locker combo. For a girl who craved excitement, this made her ANTSY. Antsy to make a mark – sometimes that mark had to be literal.
There was something nice about Westerburg though, there was Cameron. Cameron showed potential – potential to UNDERSTAND. Years of being misunderstood had frustrated Ruby beyond reason, further than she’d like to admit. Habits were, unfortunately, formed through obsessions. Craving an understanding, someone who was intellectual enough to GET her, to get how sordid everyone else’s habits and lives were was an allure she couldn’t ignore.
The Heathers were prime examples of everything WRONG with the world. They got everything they wanted without having to work for it. Their brains – too small to hold any actual thought that’d bring anything of value to society. Which was why it really wouldn’t be a SHAME if they were suddenly … gone. ( In the least, deep down, it’d make Ruby feel better about her own over calculated, sorry existence. ) BITTER.
Nosing through the cabinets idly, how convenient on this fine morning that she’d end up at Heather C’s place with Cameron. Though, admittedly, Ruby had forgotten the purpose of being there – sans the possibility of revenge to be e x e c u t e d.
High school was extraordinarily boring. It wasn’t like Cameron was a forced outcast, no. There just seemed to be a shortage of people who were worth her time, doing the same ol’ mundane practices and who were content being mainstream. It just didn’t appeal to her. Which is why when Ruby came strolling into school one day, with those vibes that she was here to shake things up, cause a little hell (as in, firing blanks at jocks with a revolver), Cameron knew this was one person she wanted to actually be friends with. Especially now that Heather C swore revenge on Cameron with the promise to ruin her. What was meant to be a rhetorical wish one day during a HEALTHY game of strip croquet, Ruby now wanted fulfilled for her. That was the thing--- though as fascinated as she was by the redhead, there was still this little warning that would go off in the recesses of her mind about how much Ruby seemed to dislike the Heathers. She ignored it.
“So, what’s the plan again?” Cameron asked gently, visibly nervous about their illegal activities, but with a smile on her face as she moved about the kitchen. “Are we just gonna waltz into her bedroom and force feed her something to make her puke?” That was what she wanted, and what Ruby said they should do the following morning after their “game.” It was rather easy, seeing as Heather C always skipped family brunch with grandma. Selfish bitch. Now she was home alone and at their mercy for... “Orange juice and milk. That’s disgusting, right?”

James was sure he wasn’t high. Mostly because he had stopped doing it after the diagnoses. This place -this was the place he used to come when he was hallucinating .
He didn’t like it here much when he got older. It got darker around the edges, and his friends weren’t as cheerful.
He looked at her and realized he wasn’t a wonderland person, just someone from the club. That meant- his eyes grew when he realized that maybe he wasn’t hallucinating. After all he had never seen actual people here, and she didn’t look imaginary. She was also expressly not wonderlandly.
“Uh - you see it too. The whole burning thing?”
The question threw her off, more so what it pertained to. So she wasn’t just high? This was something tangible, that they were both stuck in? The prospect activated that little phobia, what’s it called, oh yeah, CLAUSTROPHOBIA. At once, her face blanched, feeling like she was plopped down in the middle of a fishbowl, but one that was ugly and dying. If she couldn’t find a way to escape, then she would be trapped here, and that just wasn’t something she could deal with. Smoothing over her expression, she ruffled her hair with a forced laugh.
“I mean, yeah, I do. I just thought I was tripping on some laced pot or somethin’.” With a shrug and a glance around them, soot collecting on the toe of her Converses, “So... what is this place? If it’s real, which I guess it is. I don’t know.” She tended to ramble when nervous, and bit her lip worriedly. “Should we try to figure a way out of here?” Turning in a random direction, because it was basically a repeated landscape of the charred, “Maybe there’s a rabbit hole or something we can fall back through to our world. --- Whoa, is this like Wonderland?” It was just supposed to be a joke, but it suddenly seemed like they were tossed into an underworld version of the storybook.

❛ Maybe so, but you also really didn’t need to graduate thinking the entire grade’s against you. There’s nothing wrong with liking who you like, some people are just too vain to see that. ❜ She’d opened her mouth to say something more, when the girl continued to talk, and only then did Beckett realize the full extent of what years of anguish and discrimination can do to a person. She could’ve suspected it, really, if her own personal, hateful experiences with her parents were anything to go by, but she’d probably turned her cheek to the entire thing because, well. She’d been so absorbed in her own personal dilemmas, she never once thought to consider those of anybody else.
In less than a minute, the Nikolas had gone from overconfident rich bitch to completely weathered down.
Defeated.
❛ —– I’m a terrible person, ❜ she muttered despite herself, lolling her head back against a locker with a deflated sigh. ❛ I should’ve done something sooner, should’ve SAID something sooner. You don’t deserve all that shit they make you deal with, you know ? No one does. ❜ The toe of her high-heeled boot was tapped restlessly on the level’s tiled flooring, and she was shaking her head both at the Langton and at HERSELF. ❛ Look, Cameron. I’m really sorry. I never wanted them to hurt you, or anybody else. Ashley’s a bitch, I learned how to handle her, but not everyone does. I just — I don’t want you to HATE me. ❜
But why did she care ?
Perfectly manicured nails tucked a straightened, raven lock behind her ear, revealing a unique array of piercings all down the cartilage and lobe. But there was something else, too, the hint of a tattoo peeking out from the side of her neck. An equality symbol.
❛ — And waste yet another hour of my life listening to Ashely grovel on about Mrs. Morrison’s unsightly cellulite ? I think I’ll pass. Besides, I’ve been spending most of my time these last few lunches preparing my valedictorian speech, and do you really think those bitches would step one foot into a library ? Two weeks ago, Rebecca claimed it was a temple of worship for the pagan gods, and that Jesus would send her to Hell for even looking at the door. ❜
Beckett giggled to herself, slinging her leather, black knapsack over one shoulder. ❛ I’m sorry to have bothered you, and I can leave if it makes you uncomfortable. Otherwise, I’ll be at the back table of the library, you’re more than welcome to come, if you’d like. You don’t have to trust me when I say it’s not a prank, but I hope that you do. ❜ A warm smile, head cocked, as she prepared to take her leave.
The entire grade was against her--- basically. There were only a few that Cameron considered her friends, and half the time, they didn’t rank her that high of a priority if they never came to school to at least give her company throughout the day. The only reason she didn’t just join them at the mall to mock the latest fashion trend over french fries and cigarettes was because she cared about her academics. She wasn’t the top of her class, but she certainly topped most kids here, and she wanted to go to a decent college. Get out of here. Make something of herself. Start over fresh.
The girl in front of her visibly slouched against the lockers, beside her own. Cameron wanted to feel bad for her, sympathize about her lack of involvement, and forgive her for the shit she’s gone through, but she still couldn’t dump all hope into this. Whatever it was. There was too much history, too many days spent crying in her room, too many times that nothing was solved when they were at their worst. Too much self-loathing for the way they made her think about herself. Pursing her lips momentarily, she picked at a backpack strap and spoke softly, “Well, you weren’t the BEST person. They are your friends, and they’re some of the worst people I could imagine. They’re really awful, you know that, right?” It came out before she could stop it, but she looked up to meet the other’s eyes, wondering if Beckett’s change of heart was because she finally saw them all for what they were. If she wanted to emphasize just how much she despised them, she would just tell her about how often she’s imagined jabbing a pen into Ashley’s neck. Just so that they would stop and leave her alone. Then she registered just what she had said at the end there.
“I mean--- I don’t hate you...” Cameron trailed, sighing gently. “I just don’t really feel anything about you---” except that you’re really hot and I wonder what it would feel like to kiss you “--- we’ve never even talked. So why now?” But then there was the offer to accompany her to the library, mildly surprising her that Beckett was valedictorian. The slightest of giggles came out at how ridiculous Rebecca Newman was, before she tucked a curl behind her ear and nodded. “Okay. I guess. But if I even spot one of them in the library, I’m leaving. I’m not putting up with anything.” It was meant to sound more threatening, but already she was giving into what she could only assume was sincerity in Beckett’s words. She just didn’t want to trust her so easily and quickly. She didn’t want to go through the same thing again.

chvmeleonisms:
It was senior year, and Beckett Nikolas was in her PRIME. Sure, next year she was pretty much a sure win for all the HOTTEST sororities, but nothing would beat her life in high school. Not the leader of the popular kids, no, that was resident bitch Ashley Gringham, { if one couldn’t tell, the two of them had a slight rivalry in the works }, but she was still one of the “it” girls, the girls all the boys wanted, the girls all the girls wanted to be —
Or so that’s what everyone believed, and of what Beckett tried to convince herself. But truth be told, she was just a confused, insecure girl, who clung to large friends groups and Instagram photos and materialism to compensate for the lack of emotional affection received from her posh parents back home. Now how’s THAT for a cliché ?
But the cliché only gets worse from there, because this popular, model, fashion designers’ kid, had absolutely zero interest in the stereotypical, jock type of guy. No. Beckett had her fair share of completely unsatisfying experiences with the male species, some of which she had resolved to never speak about with anyone, lest she send herself into a spiral of panic. So, instead, the Nikolas was searching for something else; a woman. But high school was a vicious jungle, and the only outed non-heterosexual female in the grade was none other than Cameron Langton, which, lord knows that girl had been through hell and back ever since tales of her sexuality ignited their first flame of homophobia back in September of freshman year. So she would wait, wait until college, which bore with it the promise of something better, something REVOLUTIONARY, where she could experiment with whomever she wanted and do whatever she wanted and hopefully males would move passed whatever fucked up phase they were in now and grow from sweaty, hyper-sexualized boys to respectful, endearing men.
Until then, however, this was their fate: mutts lapping at the beckoning of the Head Bitch, making Cameron far more uncomfortable than the Nikolas could fathom watching. So she decided, with only so many days left until graduation, that it was about time she took a stand for something other than faux fur and eco-friendly, gel nails.
❛ Oh, Dylan, ❜ Beckett slurred, pressing her back against the row of lockers and cocking her head seductively, tauntingly. ❛ Now, now, coming from someone who’s been the receiver of your acclaimed GENTLENESS, I can promise this girl two things: One; that you’re nothing but a filthy liar. And, two; you are most certainly NOT her type. So I suggest you back the FUCK off before the entire grade finds out about your little overcompensation problem. You know what they say about boys with erectile dysfunction… ❜ She trailed off with a sadistic grin, letting those words sink in, before turning to that BITCH, licking her lips. ❛ And, you, little bitch, you’re just acting out because Daddy’s neglecting you, isn’t that right ? What happened, you walk in on him sleeping with some other whore ? Mommy wasn’t good enough for him, and now neither are you ? ❜ She rolled her eyes, stepping closer, a sculpted eyebrow raised in Ashley’s direction. ❛ Now. I suggest you get the fuck away from us before I tell everyone about your little INCIDENT with Mr. Jefferson last week during study hall… ❜
And with that, the two were gone, leaving Beckett’s disposition to visibly relax as she turns to face her fellow student with a kind regard. ❛ Hey — Cameron, right ? I don’t believe we’ve ever officially met, but my name’s Beckett. Listen, I’m sorry you had to deal with all of that. Ashley can be a handful, to say the least. ❜
Dylan had opened his mouth to make some other inappropriate innuendo in response when a new body was put to the lockers and Cameron was glancing in surprise at Beckett Nikolas. Beckett was part of that stereotypical popular crowd with Ashley, with the rep to rivals hers (like it fucking matter in reality), but never made any attempts to join in on the harassment. It always surprised Cameron, seeing as most of them did, but the most she ever saw was the one time Beckett laughed at lunch when a different jock had knocked her tray down, and if she was being honest, the girl didn’t look to happy about it once the laughter died down. What she never did was take her side and defend her.
The threats came so quickly from her mouth that the two on the receiving end couldn’t take a breath for a reaction. It must’ve surprised everyone, and to cover up the fact, Cameron spun back to her locker so she wouldn’t have to see what would happen. The lock’s dial twisted under trembling fingertips, and she even got it open before she realized that nothing else was going to happen. Dylan and Ashley and whoever the fuck else else they were with were actually walking off down the hall, a lot less rowdy than they had come. Beckett actually managed to shoo them away.
“Thanks for the help, but you really didn’t need to,” she said without thinking. A part of her still believe that this was just a prank, another pawn to use in a game against her, like the time she trusted her “boyfriend” only to discover that he was with them, and they had just wanted to hurt her, use her. This could be the exact same tactic, and her brows creased in anger at the assumption. “If you’re just here to pretend like you’re my friend just to mess with my head, you can forget it. They already pulled that shit once, won’t fool me again.” There was much more aggressive ways that she could basically tell the other brunette to “fuck off,” but for some reason, it didn’t come out. As did most things locked up in her mind, never able to say the things that would make the rest leave her alone, never able to express how her sexuality was never an option, and that she really wanted to just graduate and be happy for once.
“Shouldn’t you be joining them for lunch now?” A couple books were correctly positioned in order for which classes she had left for the rest of the day, and then she was grabbing her backpack and shutting her locker finally. She was also super eager to go sit alone for lunch while her only friend played hooky, yet again.
only her //. highschool au, cameron + beckett
It was senior year, but graduation was taking it’s fucking time getting here. What she wouldn’t give right now to just throw her shit to the ground, scream at the top of her lungs, and then everyone would catch fire.
If only. There were far too many occurrences where she daydreamed about certain people getting mowed down by a school bus, or Cameron herself snapping and smashing Ashley Gringham’s face through the second story window, then watching her flailing body fall to the pavement. It had been Ashley and her posse who had tortured Cameron’s entire high school existence, and she just wanted it to fucking end already.
To prove her point, the brunette tucked a waving lock behind her ear as she turned the dial on her lock, opening her locker to place her belongings inside. It was the same almost everyday, and to her left, she heard rather than saw the group of football jocks that followed Ashley everywhere come around into the hallway. Teeth sunk into her bottom lip as she prepared, hoping that ignoring them for the umpteenth time would result in them ignoring her right back. Why couldn’t they just do that? No, they had to make her life a miserable hell.
“’Ey, Cammy,” a sickly sweet, teasing voice said in the same moment a large hand slammed her locker shut. FUCK. Turning, she was faced with the quarterback, Dylan. He loomed over her, effectively trapping her against her locker, while none other than Ashley herself blocked the side Dylan’s bulky arm wasn’t barricading. “So, we were thinkin’---”
“You’re just too pretty to be some lesbo,” HBIC Ashley interrupted, arms crossed and a painfully fake smile on her face. “Dylan here has taken it upon himself to turn your life around.”
“Don’t worry; I’ll be gentle,” he whispered, winking suggestively in her face.
Cameron’s stomach twisted at the thought, and she tried to keep the grimace off her face at the thought of his gross, calloused hands on her body. Boys were so disgusting. Not like the girls around this school were much better. Again, she was confronted with the fact that she still had no idea how her secret got out, and why everyone gave her so much shit for being gay.
“No, thanks. I’ll pass,” the Langton tried to speak up, wanting desperately to just melt away rather than have to put up with another day of this.

James stood there dumfounded for a moment. The last time he had gotten to this place, he had fallen into a hole now at a club he had entered through a god damn mirror.
Not that he really knew where the fuck he actually was. After all he had convinced himself that this place was an episode - maybe the drugs he had gotten prescribed. Still he was standing here in a forest that looked familiar and certainly wasn’t in the middle of a city.
Turning around he found that he couldn’t even see the portal anymore. Cursing he then noticed something wrong.
The colors last time had been brighter - almost to bright. Now they looked about as dark as the black suit he was wearing. Without thinking he went at touched the bark of a nearby tree. It crumbled like it had been scorched.
Something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong in wonderland, if it even existed. That or his meds weren’t working anymore at all.
Out of the corner of his eye he saw a hint of moment, not quite sure what it was he turned to it.
“Hey. Hello. Who’s there?”
Cameron was as high as a motherfucker. There was a new strand in town, and while the guy promised it was safe and there would be no side effects--- here she was. And there was no way that this was a side effect, because smoking weed never gave her hallucinations, and certainly none this powerful. If so, then this was the w o r s t trip she had ever been on.
It was some kind of land, except, it had been ravaged by what could only have been a fire. Most of the trees were still standing, but completely ashen. The slightest wind and the bark was peeling off like old wallpaper, fluttering away.
A voice, cutting through her dreamy state. Blinking, she turned in the direction, and rounding another line of trees, she found the source, a guy standing a couple feet away. Oh, good. Now she was hallucinating people.
“What up?” she asked rhetorically. Maybe if she addressed him, he would crumble like kindling and disappear. Man, this was fucking weird. Did she wander like a dazed lunatic to some forestry outside the city? But it was winter, definitely no possible explanation for a fire that no one heard about. “So--- where the fuck are we?”

She’d already picked up Cameron and was all but dragging the woman’s ass across the city to none other than her childhood best friend’s penthouse. Now, she didn’t know much about Khalid anymore, but the Khalid she knew as a kid would’ve helped her in an instant, and she just prayed that after him witnessing her moment of weakness the other day, he would oblige. Because if he didn’t…
Beckett didn’t want to think about that. She had a job to do. Cameron, she could trust, Bex knew. Besides, the fact that she could sexually drape the girl around her finger if COMPLETELY necessary reassured her, too. She didn’t want to go to those extremes, but if proved necessary… All she knew was that this was her first week as a Commander and Bex wasn’t about to let down her House. Not when the stakes were so high. She’d do whatever it takes. And luckily, her alliance with Pestilence would be coming in handy —- Right about now.
She hadn’t said a word about it to Cameron yet, just gave her a peck on the cheek, grabbed her by the hand, and began dragging her away, explicating that they were going to another Pestilence member’s penthouse and that it was important and she couldn’t explain out in the open. Not yet. So when the door to her friend’s place finally peeled open, Beckett all but sprinted inside. She was still suffering a significant amount of pain from her injuries, but adrenaline, and borderline temporary psychosis, might she add, were fuelling her. The stress of her physical injuries had subsided. At least for now.
❛ Khalid, Cameron —- ❜ She took a shaky breath. Sure, these weren’t HER members to command, she had no authority over them, but it was as though her regal presence radiated from her aura regardless of how she composed herself, these days. ❛ I need your help. ❜ Then with a sigh, she sifted out another’s cellphone from her pocket, offering it for them to examine. ❛ I stole this phone, and I need you guys to hack into it for me. I need to find any kind of information that could prove useless. If you don’t —- I’m going to lose my job, and I really can’t handle that. ❜ She met Khalid’s eyes then, purposefully, because he KNEW to what she was referring. ❛ Not after everything this week. The pressure’s high and I’m struggling to keep up with it. So, please, can you help me ? ❜

Khalid spent most of his life in an industry that played with him, treating him like a valuable piece on a chess board that could be easily discarded. Never the king, or even the queen – Khalid spent that time seeing himself as the bishop. Important, but there was always someone else with the same amount of importance as him, and it was about who got his hands on him first and managed to move him around according to their wishes. Joining Pestilence, joining this life was Khalid’s way of choosing to have control, to be the one moving the chess pieces around instead of being in the game.
The man was done with people playing games with him.
It was not only him, it was his house. People he didn’t necessarily know, but that he was still protective over. When the power shut down, Khalid knew what to expect. Getting the footage of June wasn’t complicated – what was difficult was knowing this is what his commander had been reduced to. He knew theirs wasn’t the only one to be in the hands of whoever was doing this, but it didn’t mean that the man felt any less humiliated. Pestilence was supposed to be the smartest house, and yet they haven’t managed to crack this specific code. Whoever was playing them had been having the last laugh for too long and Khalid was tired.
The Face had been texting his second commander when there was a knock on his door. Considering Khalid knew there wasn’t much he could still do about finding the source of the broadcast, he tossed his phone aside and went to the door to answer it. Before Khalid could even check who it was, Beckett was storming into his apartment, Cameron in tow – Pestilence members don’t usually know each other, but Cameron was his superior and great help whenever the job in hand was too difficult for one person.
“ You need me to hack a phone? ” The man asked, reaching for the mobile and taking it into his hands. It was turned off – at least Beckett had enough of a brain still to remember to do that, as he’d told her -, but Khalid hesitated before moving to the couch where his laptop was. “ First of, this is business shit not friends shit, so don’t come with please. The last thing we need is for either of our commanders to think they have the right to tells us to end our friendship because of conflict of interest due to personal attachment. I know you’re aiming for this alliance or whatever, but be practical, this is business. ” Khalid made sure Beckett understood before motioning for Cameron to join him on the couch.
“ Second, I’m offended that you think I need help hacking a phone, ” the man rolled his eyes, pulling a cord and attaching the phone to it. It was only when he had launched a program to lock the location of the phone somewhere as far from them as possible, until they could have access to the passwords and therefore turn off tracking completely, that Khalid turned the device on. “ Do me a favor and don’t tell me who this phone belongs to, yeah? ” He allowed his eyes to drift from Beckett to Cameron. “ Check the phone’s texts and con- wait, I don’t have to tell you what to do, just check what you can after I manage to unlock it. ”
@virtualvengeful
There was a pick up line and a half on The Vengeful’s tongue when Beckett picked her up, but it was all thrown out the window of the car she was dragged into when there was a peck on her cheek and a need of her skills. If there was one thing she loved MORE than girls, it was computers and hacking into them for personal profit. Fishing a joint out of her leather jacket pocket, she promised it was partially tobacco and lit it for a quick smoke on the way to their destination. Most often times, Cameron would get a bit high before starting her programming, figuring it helped with inspiration and focusing. And the gentle b u z z in her brain kept her from acting out more irrationally than usual. She was very careful assuring that the smoke filtered out the window as much as possible, practically leaning out of the car, not wanting some Famine member to put a target on her head for getting weed smell on her upholstery.
Less talkative than usual--- thank you, quality dank--- Cameron finally spoke once they were walking past the threshold into the penthouse. “ Holy shit! ” she exclaimed, somewhat breathless, gaze flitting about the room. And didn’t stop, even as Beckett was addressing her and Khalid, who she had greeted with a shuffle of his hair. Whatever the brunette was saying only half applied to Cam. She was just here to hack a computer or phone---
“You’re freaking out about a cellphone?” Cameron blurted out, crossing her arms, deflating the slightest bit. “You know that’s like second grade shit, right? I could smoke a real joint and do it MYSELF with my eyes closed.” Then Khalid, the lil’ cutie, was rambling off about it being business and whatnot, and she merely rolled her eyes at his dramatic ass, figuring it had more to do with their personal relations than she herself knew about. “Yeah, yeah,” she shrugged in Beckett’s direction, following her fellow member to the couch and sinking into the cushions with a deep sigh and feeling the fabric. “Dude, you’re loaded; this is nice shit.”
Realizing they were getting serious, a wide smile split her face as she took a hardrive out from her jacket pocket, something she always carried around with her. For specific reasons. Nicking another cable from Khalid’s stash, she prepared it before handing it over. “Custom Firewall, just in case. Since we don’t know who our lovely thief took this from, we should be prepared for malware, if they suspected something like this happening. Just plug it in once you’ve unlocked the phone and deactivated the tracking chip.” With that, she leaned back against the couch, smug like she had contributed more than she actually had. Besides, it could be good practice for Khalid to get involved in these situations, not that he wasn’t more than capable, but she wouldn’t take a learning opportunity. But she doubted it was worth a lot, unless the device was more trouble than it seemed.
“You got any booze?” Cameron chirped, eyes shifting to Beckett’s nervous figure. “ Someone looks like they could use a drink or somethin’.”
