It’s been a while! Here’s some blog news + an update on the future of Virtues, Values, and Sins.

Hey there! It’s been a while since my last post, huh? Yeah...about that. So, life has been getting over my head constantly. I firmly believe that I’ve overestimated my ability to do what I planned on doing with my life, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’m going to give up on it! I’ve taken time away from this subject to really think on what my next move should be and I’ve now learned that my biggest mistake was...just sticking to one idea?

What I mean to say is that I want to rebrand this blog as a multiple ideas blog! What does this mean exactly? Well here’s the details:

This blog is no longer just attributed to the concept of Virtues, Values, and Sins. It will be attributed to a multitude of ideas that are only partially developed or are in the works of becoming fully developed things. (Don’t worry to those who followed for VVS! VVS isn’t going to be completely ignored, but rather sat on a backburner to allow for more time to work things out!)

Posts will most likely be more frequent as well due to creative freedom to work on what I like or currently want to develop.

Variety content will be a thing! Writing, drawing, pixel art, possibly even music! (For right now though, I’ll be sticking to writing and drawing.)

Many ideas can be posted at a time, thus being more productive on here overall! If one thing isn’t being worked on, there’s a good chance something else is being worked on, basically.

I guess to some extent this will just become an art/ideas blog, but I do want to compile stuff and see where it gets me later on down the line. Hopefully everyone who follows for VVS understands what’s happening! I’m sure this will lead to more productivity and happiness in the long run. If any other questions need answered, feel free to shoot an ask! I would be more than happy to explain the happenings of this place.

While this isn’t the update that I’m working on (which is going to be much more text based than I thought) I decided to do a quick doodle of Lust as they’re the next design I wish to hammer at to make more of a solid character.

My idea for them is that they have a scarf weaved from souls of seemingly unknown origin. They tie the scarf on sinners to make them remember the lives they ruined and also wears it around as a symbol of their status in Hell. Their skin is made of a flexible glass-like substance and the broken face they have is from when they fell from a high place hundreds of years ago. They’re quiet and simply wish to get their work done on the daily. It’s unknown as to why Lust almost never interacts with the other sins unless they have to.

As always, feel free to ask more about the character! There are some plot relevant things that I can’t answer, but general personality questions and how they interact as a whole is definitely something I can answer.

How to make this blog a bit more frequent on posts...

So this blog hasn’t really been consistent lately...and it’s going to get a bit more inconsistent because I’ll be going back to school in less than two weeks for college. I’d love to keep this blog going, but art posting is going to be MUCH harder to do in the long run if I want to both improve said art and keep things at least Somewhat quality while keeping a decent amount of good mental health on my part.

I also want to be able to type out my ideas more on this blog, so a lot more text posts about the world surrounding VVS and how Hell works will probably become much more prominent! Hopefully no one minds reading up over looking at art, haha.

Anyways, that’s about it! Just wanted to give an update on why things have been so off and on lately here. I’ve been working with other friends of mine and talking about ideas on show episodes and such in order to at least get out a very very VERY rough outline of where everyone on this lovely team wants this idea to go!

Ah, so idk if y’all know about me, but I’m writing my own show idea and this is one of the main characters! He’s uhhh supposed to be Pride from the 7 Deadly Sins for those of you who don’t know. ^^;

Anyways…I hope you all like this! It’s just been a small I’ve been working on over the past few days. I feel like I did good on it. (Ah, and my show idea side blog can be found @ virtuesvaluesandsins if you all want to take a look at it! It’s very small and bare bones right now, but I’m working on world development and character development as well.)

So, I know I said I was gonna post a link on my birthday, but a Bunch of complications came up and I was NOT feeling up to creating a server, big or small, that day…

On a serious note...

Someone has brought up to me that my concept has been downplaying the horrific ideas of Hell and that I should rename certain things (ex: making “Satan” into a more obscure name like “The Boss” or renaming Hell to “The Underworld”) in order to avoid biblical references and the like in order to avoid offending people who may be of a religion that uses these words commonly.

I can understand this, yes, and I am 100% willing to change names and concepts around in order to avoid angering or upsetting any religious people who might have stumbled across this project. I’d love alternative name ideas if anyone has any or if you have opinions on this, feel free to talk about them through the ask system. I’m...not sure what to do as of right now, you know? I’m not sure if this is just a one person issue or if people actually have been offended by my ideas. I really mean no harm and I would be willing to change things if need be.

How would people feel about background story comics? I don’t exactly feel like it’s a good step considering I’m wanting to make this animated, but I also feel it’d be a good way of showing off characters! I guess I just don’t want to add something fundamental to the comics that won’t show up in the animations when I get the skills to do that. I’d love to hear what everyone else is thinking so I can make a good choice in the long run!

Ah, who would be interested in a discord server? I’ve been pending on the idea for a while now and I’m curious to know who would want to join!

A WIP for a redesign for Lust. I found their original design to be too choppy and boring along with too many lines, which is often seen as aggravating to animate or draw correctly in general.

Still thinking on keeping them within a bleak color pallet, however. I want the color to show a part of their character that I have yet to really talk about: The fact that they dislike their title as Lust. How they’re taking the role of something that is so often sexualized by mortal media.Their goal in their position is to prove that punishment for those who committed lustful sins has no right to be seen as beautiful or to be physically sought after. Their idea of punishment is seen as one of, if not the most cruel form of suffering in Hell next to facing Satan’s wrath. However, they understand that many cases that come across their desk can’t be truly seen as “lustful” and as such, many cases of possible punishment go undone and the accused sinner is sent to purgatory to wait out final orders to get them into heaven. Punishment is only saved for those who truly deserve it. Only those who truly deserve it.

(Ah, and the odd shards you see in the image is an example of their primary ability. They have many broken up glass shards that show what the sinner was like during their life and what brought them to their realm of Hell to begin with.)

Might actually try doing a twitch stream tomorrow for about an hour or so. Planning on doing some basic sketches and talking about plot stuff! Maybe redesigns of characters that I feel are Eh tier at best. I’ll post a link when I start streaming!

I’ll just say though that I am very scared about doing this, so if I come off as quiet or something, just know it’s because I have literally NEVER done this before. (Also I don’t really have any Good stuff when it comes to streaming, so there might be some background noise like my dogs barking. :’D )

Anyways, I’m in EST, so I’ll probably start around 2 or 3 pm EST. Might be pushed back a little farther if things arise.
