Let’s talk
Bubbly, enthusiastic, social, outgoing, 'got it together'. That's how I'm often described. But, even if all those things are true and I take it as a compliment, too often, the other side of it for me is anxiety. I'm worried. I'm overthinking. I'm over-planning. I'm thinking up scenarios and back-up plans and alternatives - 'just in case' and in an effort to make things 'the best'. I'm too often in self-preservation mode before there's anything to save myself from.
To cope, I make lists, pedantically organize my calendar, and keep a google document where I let my planning run 'free' (in a spreadsheet, mind you). I meditate. I exercise. I read. I freewrite. And I talk.I have supportive friends and family who are there for me - and I am ever so grateful for this. It's one major part of what helps me actually embody that free-spiritedness that others often ascribe to me. Thank you.
So, dear friends, however it is that you *seem* to others, know that it's okay to be however you actually *are*, too. Everyone we meet is fighting a hard battle - and too often, a silent battle. #LetsTalk about it and most of all, let's make space by listening.
