Cordelia sits cross upon the floor, body leaning eagerly and intently towards her project. The brush strokes are soft and deliberate against the smooth grain of canvas and more than anything she wants to reach out and press her fingers into her creation, to feel it sink into her skin. She pulls back for a moment, to examine the additions she's made to the piece. The thin, wooden tip of the paintbrush makes it between her lips and she plays between her teeth before she dips the brush into another colour. Her thigh is her palette, globs and strokes of mixed paint cover the upper part of her leg, Cordelia likes the way the brush feels gliding against her skin as she seeks new colour and how it makes her flesh feel delicate and smooth.

The dying sun of the day streaks in through the window behind her, creating lovely lines and shadow against her painting and she wants to capture the exact colours and bottle them up for her personal use. The effect manufactured by such natural light is one Cordelia knows she cannot so easily obtain, but she creates similar hues and shades and she uses them as a guide. Her body leans again, she holds her breath inches from her portrait and she paints. She never knows exactly what the product will be, but in her hands the brush and the motions and the feelings are natural and calming and give her a sense of brightness she thought she'd lost.
