Get lost in a literary adventure with a book from The Doylestown Bookshop. Located in downtown Doylestown, this independent bookstore offers all the latest new releases, bestsellers, and classics. From children’s picture books to magazines to classic literature, the Doylestown Bookshop has something for the whole family.

Start your own story in a unique journal or notepad purchased from the store. Greeting cards, gift bags, toys, games and puzzles are also available for purchase. THE BRIDGETOWN MILL HOUSE

Make an experience out of your Bucks County getaway and stay in a 18th Century mansion in Langhorne. NIKO CHOCHELI EXHIBIT AT BUCKS COUNTY VISITOR CENTER

You are invited to view the fantasy world of Niko Chocheli at the Bucks County Visitor Center through October 7th! This exhibit is FREE and open to the public daily from 9am-5pm.

Artist and Bucks County resident, Niko Chocheli, draws his inspirations from the rich traditions of classical art as well as that of his own ancient country, Georgia. His work will present to the public a rich pallette and precisely detailed draftmenship. Chocheli's art captures the eye with it's vivid color and the soul with it's depth of meaning. The great cultural traditions of east and west, oriental miniature and renaissance art merge harmoniously in his beautiful work. Pieces include the decorative patterns and vivid colors of pen and ink drawings and acrylic paintings on canvas, as well as old wood.

In 1995, Chocheli founded 'Chocheli School of Fine Arts', a private art school in Doylestown.

SHADY BROOK FARM'S PUMPKINFEST

Celebrate fall fun on the farm at Shady Brook Farm’s annual PumpkinFest! Starting this weekend through October 31, the farm will be jam-packed with fun for the whole family. Every day from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. the price of admission will allow you access to all of the exciting fall festivities.

Hop on the hayrides to the pumpkin patch where you will find pumpkins of all shapes and sizes. Whether you are carving a jack-o-lantern or making pumpkin pie, you will find a perfect pumpkin in the patch! Inflatable amusements, straw maze, gem-mining and barnyard animals are among some of the exciting features at Pumpkinfest. Come on the weekend for additional excitement of live entertainment, pig races, and pony rides!

But wait! There’s more! Get lost in all the fun and wind your way through the giant corn maze. Don’t be scared, this maze is not haunted. PumpkinFest is sure to have some spooky fun, but for the younger kids, it’s not-too scary! (For more grown- up spooky fun, head to HorrorFest at night!)

This year Shady Brook Farm is extending the fun. Experience PumpkinFest After Dark! on October 13, 20, 24, 25, and 26! PumpkinFest will run from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Guests will get to enjoy the same fun activities under the stars!

THE COUNT'S HALLOWEEN SPOOKTACULAR

The Count is celebrating the Halloween season in a big way at Sesame Place! Join in the party with him and the rest of his furry friends at The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular, beginning today and continuing each weekend through October 30.

This spooktacular event features a number of Halloween themed shows starring everyone’s favorite Sesame Street friends. Old-time radio shows, toe-tapping musicals, and soaring imaginations will have the kids begging for more! Wind your way through a good time in the Count’s Un-Haunted Castle Maze, one of the two mazes for kids to enjoy. Help Abby Cadabby find her missing wind by finding your way out of Abby Cadabby’s Magical Halloween Maze. There will be plenty of opportunities to meet your favorite furry friend. Hop on some hayrides and pull up a seat next to your favorite character during story time.

The park will be decked out in festive, yet not too spooky, Halloween decorations that will get you in the spirit of the holiday. While you’re feeling festive, put on your best disguise. Guests are encouraged to put on their Halloween costumes and trick-or-treat throughout the park. Don’t miss out on the Halloween costume contest held on October 3!

BUCKS COUNTY REMEMBERS 9-11

In honor of the 10th Anniversary of Sept. 11, Bucks County is remembering the lives of those lost with ceremonies, reflection rides, and fundraisers. Below is a list of events taking place in Bucks County:

• The 9-11 Memorial Garden of Reflection in Lower Makefield will host events in remembrance on both Saturday and Sunday. Candles - 2,793 of them - have been made for those that lost their lives in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Light a candle, say a prayer and remember the victims at a Candlelight Vigil Saturday evening.

• Rev your engine in remembrance along the "Ride of Reflection" Motorcycle Ride Saturday. The ride will start at 9 a.m. at Brian's Harley-Davidson in Middletown. The route will take bikers on a scenic 60-mile ride through Bucks County and end at the 9-11 Memorial Garden of the Reflection in Lower Makefield.

• On Sunday morning, join others at the Garden of Reflection's 10th Annual Remembrance Ceremony. The ceremony will start at 8:46 a.m. to mark the first attack. The American Flag will be lowered to half-mast and the names of Bucks County residents will be read aloud.

• 263 Marketplace in Warminster will participate in the U.S.O. Operation Phone Home program to support the troops currently stationed overseas. The indoor shopping venue is helping to raise money for calling cards for troops by donating a percentage of the day's profits.

• Join the Bill Monaghan Band at the Sellersville Theater as they mark the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11 with a musical tribute. "911 - In Memoriam" will feature rock and blues with gospel and country vocals.

BRISTOL AMISH MARKET

It's wall to wall of deliciousness and handmade furniture at the Bristol Amish Market! Open Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, this market has finds for the whole family looking for Amish-made home accessories and tasty homemade food.

Bristol Riverside Theatre

Spend a night out at the theatre in historic Bristol Borough! Situated in a renovated movie house, the Bristol Riverside Theatre has been bringing entertainment to Bucks County since 1986. NATIONAL SHRINE OF OUR LADY OF CZESTOCHOWA

In the heart of Bucks County lies the National Shrine of Our Lady of Czestochowa, a place where all are welcome. The shrine is a one of a kind Polish-American spiritual center that sits on acres of beautifully landscaped property. Travelers who set out on a pilgrimage often marvel at its sights and are also warmed by the genuine hospitality of the Pauline Fathers and Brothers. The shrine offers many things to the community such as a choir for children and adults who wish to sing during the daily ceremonies and opportunities for Youth Ministry.

Na zdrowie! Every September, (this weekend and next weekend) the shrine hosts their famous Polish-American Family Festival and County Fair. You are invited to spend the weekend celebrating the Polish culture, heritage, and traditions. The fair runs for two weekends and parking is FREE. Sample a variety of traditional Polish foods and beverages, enjoy midway rides, be entertained by the magic show and shop around the craft show. There are also live performances and traditional dances throughout the day. Come out and celebrate a weekend cultural and festive fun!

The shrine also offers facilities for meetings. The Ava Maria Retreat House serves as the perfect spot for all kinds of meetings and religious gatherings. School field trips are available to tour the shrine and learn about its fascinating history. Groups of all nationalities and faiths are more than welcome to visit and meet at the shrine and partake in various religious and cultural activities. The beautiful facility is a serene spot for any meeting or retreat.

The Iron Maiden

The "Iron Maiden" has made its voyage back to Bucks County. This large metal full body enclosure was developed in 1958 by Flanagan Gray, a Bucks County native to mitigate G Forces. After many years, the artifact will be making its way back to Bucks County as a party of a two year loan to the Johnsville Centrifuge and Science Museum in Warminster. But before it gets to Johnsville, the Iron Maiden has made a stop at the Bucks County Visitor Center in Bensalem, where it is on display for visitors for the next two weeks!

Want a little history about this awesome artifact? Gray designed the Iron Maiden to keep water in and submerge the entire body. On December 7, 1958, Gray got inside the metal diving suit wearing a special mask and goggles. Once inside, Gray inserted a breathing tube into his mouth while the contraption was filled with water. The Iron Maiden was then taken for a spin on the Centrifuge which reached a maximum of 31.25 Gs for 6 seconds! Inside, Gray, an excellent swimmer, held his breath the entire ride. A record was set and it still remains unbroken today. If you are claustrophobic, this is definitely not for you!

When the NADC shut down in 1996, the Iron Maiden was taken for storage at the Pawtuxet Naval Museum in Maryland. We are fortunate to have it residing in Bucks County for the next two years. Be sure to see this piece of Bucks County history at the Bucks County Visitor Center.
