Open starter for anyone. Location: Hedone

Ethan was drawn to the neon glow of Hedone like a moth to a flame. The club quickly became one of Ethan's haunts when he moved to Greece and it remained a mainstay in his rotation in the three years he'd called this place home. Tonight, he was beckoned to the club because frankly there was nothing going on on campus. Just because others were staying in and studying for upcoming tests didn't mean Ethan would be doing the same.

He had been at Hedone for an hour or so with a couple of drinks under his belt and was in need of a refresher as he approached the bar. Ethan pulled out his phone and checked the time. It was a minute past midnight and he smiled. Nice. Ethan turned the person closest to him and gave them a little nudge. "Hey, next drink's on me," he offered. "I'm celebrating the Calculus test I'll be failing tomorrow." Ethan wasn't always so generous but when drinks were half off he couldn't resist.

looked like a scene plucked straight from a film, sweaty bodies packed in like sardines, many on trips scored to the stylings of a synth-enthusiast twisting nobs and flicking switches while a set of over-the-ear headphones sat untouched around their neck. neon lights cut through the low-lit ambiance, highlighting features of the unfamiliar basking in the glory of their own freedom. troubles were often left at the door guarded by a daunting bouncer with a rabid bark, quick to shoo away those deemed unfit for admittance. at first, it felt like trying to complete the berghaintrainer ( some german club simulator, one that quickly became a hyper-fixation of the techie back in her teens ), rejection after rejection until a fault was found in the system … the bouncer’s penchant for ouzos. deals weren't uncommon for iris, though it’d been the only time she was the one to cut it, swift exchanges carried out between hard-gripped handshakes while a bag of confectionaries, that she assumed only geriatrics could stomach, went from one to the other. it was her ticket in, one she utilized time and time again to bypass the velvet rope, and tonight had been no different.

her limbs ached from thrashing about to the song blaring, a pursuit of happiness remix, mouth growing drier with each belt even if her echo had been that of a cat in heat. the tune eventually bled into the next, a cue to succumb to the pleas her body shot through her veins and straight to the dome. a break. a moment to recharge. she practically catapulted to the bar, elbows dropping with the grace of a bull in a china shop as she leaned over the bartop. “ huh ? ” if she turned her head any quicker, her neck would’ve snapped. “ wait, really ? " she mulled over the words, the gesture, and offered him a cheeky grin. " in that case ... maybe i should finally try somethin' from the top shelf. y'know i hear they have a bottle worth like, 30,000 euros ... " if it hadn't been evident in her tone, then surely the laugh that followed would indicate the teasing retort. " if it's professor oberon's calc test you're talking about then i'd suggest some shots. " she glanced over her shoulder, " if you have any luck getting the bartender's attention. took me like twenty minutes earlier. "

𝐈𝐓'𝐒 𝐀 𝐁𝐄𝐀𝐔𝐓𝐈𝐅𝐔𝐋 𝐄𝐕𝐄𝐍𝐈𝐍𝐆 — the perfect balance between warm & not too humid, the sun just beginning to set as everybody rises from their seats to take advantage of the bar & the beach. milo's already made his rounds & procured himself a gin & tonic, & is halfway through it by the time his rugby teammates swarm him, trying to corral him into stripping his suit & going into the water. two of them have already taken off down the beach, hooting & hollering & shedding layers as they go, & milo waves them off to the best of his ability — but they keep taunting him even as they dive into the ocean. through the distant chorus of ' come on, milo ! ' and ' just do it ! ', milo turns to the nearest bystander, an overwhelmed grin on his face. ❛ would you go with me? ❜ he blurts out through a sheepish laugh. ❛ into the water? ❜

it appeared as though many of her peers were already two drinks in, if not more, but venus on the other hand ? two sandcastles. as soon as the dinner formalities came to a close, she’d nearly toppled over her own two feet trekking to the beach. she rarely had game plans for most things, often going wherever the tides took her in the moment; and in that one ? they took her to oz. a perfect replica of emerald city found its place alongside a small farmhouse mirroring that of dorothy’s — ruby slippers fixed with varying stones of red jutting out from beneath the structure; but something was missing. the question is … what ? as if on cue, a familiar voice beckoned her attention and tore her from her own wandering mind. it took her a moment, but when she’d registered the inquiry, a lightbulb went off. “ oh my god that’s it. water. ocean. color. green. seaweed. seaweed. god, why didn’t i think of that before ? ” a hand unabashedly wrapped around milo's wrist to help hoist herself up onto her feet. “ milo you’re a genius. now that i’m looking at it, it was starting to border a little phallic, huh ? ” she eyed the creation with a slight tilt of her head and loosened her grip. “ c’mon, what do you say we swim to the buoy out there ? who knows, we might even find some mini starfish earrings to feed us compliments while we’re at it. ” then it hit her, “ wait … you’ve seen aquamarine right ? ”

eye contact is a powerful thing. some doubted her abilities, but she'd already stared down this loser long enough to ditch his date and bring her a drink. sending him away now that she got what she wanted, though? proving a mammoth task. she scanned the small crowd around them for someone, anyone. this was a banquet of her entire school, her closest peers, and yet none of those fuckers were there when she needed them. she was so irritated she didn't realize the loser actually spoke.

and asked her what her name was. she blinked, if only to give herself more time to calm down. her name? he didn't know her name? she opened her mouth only to close it again, chewing on the slight to her family, her entire existence. the only thoughts coursing through her very expensive and famous head, was what the fuck? and oh god, please god, someone save me.

it was in that very moment — a look she translated as desperation — that venus knew that that intro to theatre class she took freshman year would finally come in handy. sure she was no meryl streep, no one could compare, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t try. a hand reached for the nearest pitcher of water, which just so happened to be snug in the grip of a passing waitress, and without hesitation, dipped in. “ sorry, i’m sorry. just havin' a hot flash ... so many gorgeous people here, y'know ? just uh … just leave that on the table, i’ll drink the whole thing. gotta stay hydrated. ” droplets clung to her skin as she tapped along her forehead before blindly pulling a few hairs out of place — just enough to make it appear as though she’d been embarking on a tumultuous journey. same hand tugged at her ear and before she knew it, she’d been hastily making her way towards greer and the nameless. “ greer ! ” chest rose and fell with the whirlwind of a greeting. “ you’re actually the perfect person … listen, i lost an earring. a really expensive one and if i don’t find it i’m pretty sure the jeweler i rented it from might actually van gogh me. ” she turned towards the guy, “ apologies, so rude of me, but this is kind of an emergency. ” and with that insinuated goodbye, so quick he barely had a chance to get a word in edgewise, she hooked an arm around greer’s and whisked her away. wasn’t until they lost sight of him altogether had venus let go and opened her palm ... iridescent jewel catching the light just right. " and would you look at that ! my earring ! " and scene. " i think we lost 'im, by the way. at least, for now. wait ... oh god, did i totally just misread that situation ? was he your boyfriend or something ? "

T H E Y said september was the perfect time to visit greece - whoever they were, the all-knowing internet, the travel guides, whoever claimed authority on the matter. keira supposed it was true enough of a statement - her dress mostly backless, with only straps && no jumper to protect her from the breeze... but she was not cold, not in the slightest. instead, her lips held tight to a cigarette as she fumbled with her lighter, trying to get it engage so she could send alight her vice. the night had carried long into the evening; her phone died, off in her purse, left... at her table, maybe? the bathroom? shit. a problem for later. and the damn lighter still didn't work, a headache threatening to worsen beyond annoying as it thudded into her temples. " oh, for fuck sake... " the former skater huffed, finally giving up, and letting a frustration grunt escape as she flicked the lighter hard, abusing it for it's decision to fail her NOW. forced in the position to be social, against her will, keira nudged herself down along the railing until within conversational distance of another. a forced, pinched smile reached her subdued features, the cigarette still planted tight in the corner of ruby red painted lips. if one were to catch a glimpse at iris and the waitstaff, they would no doubt assume that she’d been a displeased patron demanding they fix whatever seemed to be wrong. her gesticulations were pointed, eyes narrowed, as if she were a karen on a black friday sale going toe-to-toe with a sharon over the last rae dunn mug. had this been a cartoon, smoke would’ve shot from her nostrils; but wait … there was smoke. a steady stream of it billowing from the corner of lips fixed into a grimace — cig now laying idle between fingers, considerate enough to let the ashes fall into the empty glass beside her. “ there’s no fucking way. you’re seriously going to stand there and proudly say that chris pratt is the superior chris ! ” a prolonged pause, “ everyone always talks about hemsworth, pine, evans … pratt; but no one seems to consider meloni. i mean he carried the justice system on his back for how many seasons of law and order ? … exactly. granted his name is christopher, but still it counts. ” conversation continued amongst the huddle yet iris’ attention had already drawn elsewhere, parting from them to focus on the encounter unfolding: an elitist prick offering nothing but a shrug and snarky scoff at the defeated. “ damn, what an ass — ” she chimed in, falling in step with the other. “ s’probably pissed at the world … i would be too if i had all that money and still looked like a busted ralph lauren reject. ” without word, iris' hand rose to press the end of her own cigarette against the unlit, gaze dancing between the blonde's and back until the cherry glowed an amber hue. “ can i let you in on a little secret ? see that justin bieber lookalike over there ? ” head nodded towards the man of the hour, “ the one with the floppy hair and dangly earring trying to pick up the shining twins ? tell him how much you dig his god awful clock and rose tattoo next time. not only will he light your cig, he’ll give you one too. haven’t paid for a pack since freshman year. ”
