[Strifentine Week: Crescendo / Absolution / "The rest is in your hands"]
Cloud has his hands wrapped in disappointment or even holding suspicion… it seems that Vincent is pleading his way through - “take me down if you must, take me down if my demons run out of control, the rest is in your hands, and you have my agreement to defeat me once and for all.”
other than that… Vincent would aid Cloud’s journeys until a catastrophic event would occur, which doesn't occur bc they are gay. the end. (it was getting serious - i knowwwww..)
im afraid the long prompt immediately sent my mind to service top vincent.... its 2 am here so its still the 7th and u know what that means!!!! strifentine week has officially begun.......
i used two different brushes for this one, one for line art and one for color and texture.
the background is fairly simple despite appearances, i drew some outline of rock like shapes and used my color brush to add depth and value with colors, adding in glowing crystals for highlights and visual balance helped create a full picture with depth of field that still centered on the main subject which is is harder for me to accomplish with other types of background due to my tendency to make them too busy but i am fairly good at caves and rocks! as evidenced in my yet to be published mermaid cave comic lol
my best subjects are people and flowers i feel it comes as no surprise that i was able to draw cloud easily, it was harder with vincent because i am incapable of drawing scary monsters since they dont scare me and i just think they are cute. so instead i left his face in a pout as opposed to trying to get him to look scary as was my original intention. i had intended to evoke a sort of self loathing grimace and instead evoked a mollified cutie. anyway i hope you like it!
Day 2: Prototype / "the one and only" ☁️♡⚰️ @strifentineweek 2026
DeepGround Vincent! I have a fic in-progress that goes with this, but it's not related to the event really so it won't be shared until much later. Snippet under the cut!
Cloud realized all at once that, despite the flawless preservation awarded by mako, the prototype must be dead. It had been in this tank since 1992, it couldn’t be anything else; Shinra had crafted plenty of bespoke fiends over the years, but even fiends couldn’t survive that long without proper care. It was classified as “functional” in the inventory report from just a couple years ago, but that could easily just be another way to assure nobody tried to dispose of the body, which R&D probably kept for research purposes. More than likely, the staffers on the project simply had yet to find an opportunity or reason to get back to it.
Regardless, there was no point trying to bring a big dead fiend back to base. It was good intel on how far the company was willing to go to unnerve the enemy, but Cloud had seen more than enough during his days in Public Security to know that already. The only surprise was how close they’d come to making something that looked human.
Though grateful that he was the only one wasting his time, it was still a huge letdown after all his effort and preparation for today. Cloud looked up at the specimen and heaved a disappointed sigh.
And the creature in the tank woke up.
Bright red eyes snapped open, glowing like rubies held to firelight, and narrowed at Cloud as he scrambled back away from the tank. The specimen looked him up and down, brow furrowing as its eyes lit on his gun, tracing the lines with its gaze and slowly tilting its head just barely to one side in a way that reminded Cloud of a confused dog. An enormous, bipedal, mostly-humanoid dog. With horns and a big bladed tail.
The prototype looked from Cloud down to the control panel at the front of the tank, then reached out and tapped on the glass to indicate the latter.
[Strifentine Week: Facsimile/ prototype / "the one and only"]
The idea is to have Vincent serve as a prototype for the Metamorphosis project directed by Dr. Hojo. In this AU, Cloud has taken the role of the “caretaker”. During night shifts or times where Hojo cannot tend to his experiments, Cloud comes into the equation and operates them - he’s basically the beast whisperer, so he takes care of these experiments, feeds them, and provides comfort for them. Though… Vincent - the named beast of the metamorphosis- was very fond of this caretaker. Vincent was a unique prototype. The one and only who held a sense of ease, and his old humanity was still there, but shattered. He may be blood thirsty at times, but - can't help it when ur body uses so much energy every single day.
extra: some designs i whipped up for this idea! The defective beast is an edited old old concept art that i still rather like.
[Strifentine Week: Evocation / Vessel / "as you see fit" ]
Tbh, nsfw… the first day being nsfw is kinda crazy - there should be chill at first...
Perhaps all the given vocabulary could be input...
Evocation: Summoning of Vincent's beast. Cloud does, in fact, have the power.
Vessel: We all know..Vincent is a vessel full of surprises beyond human understanding -> well..the studies went deep but not deep enough as the body grows and adapts.
Vincent and Cloud are sitting together. Cloud is holding Vincent's waist tightly. “What beast will it be this time?” Cloud has to decide… and so, “as you see fit.”
i spent a lot of time trying to make the lights look blurred and indistinct in the background to bring attention to the foreground in this one. i also played with the idea of showing the back of cloud's head as well as his shadow to really drive the point home, but ended up scrapping that idea.
the brushes used are the same as the first drawing i did for strifentine week, as well as most of the colors, to make them a matching set in theme and style. fingers crossed i can keep it going lol
