Sanar and Ryelle from the Old Kingdom series.
I’ve always absolutely loved the visual idea of the Clayr, dark skin, platinum hair and bright eyes, so this piece was long over due.
Couldnt quickly find any descriptions of Sanar and Ryelle other than their basic Clayr-ness so I just had fun with their hair, I thought the curly would be a bit different.
The charter marks in the background were something I just sketched up at the last minute but I liked the effect.
Este the gentle, healer of hurts and of weariness.
Struggled a bit with all the grey in this one but in the end I’m happy with it. Messed around with the circles behind her hands for ages but I like what I finally ended up with.
Now availiable on my redbubble!
Vana the ever-young, younger sister of Yavanna and wife of Orome.
This took a while to finish, had most of the base done but just been really busy lately so Vana here got put on the back burner for a while.
I feel happy with the colors and everything. I was trying to go for a sinrise kind of palette here with her dress and the flowers.

Yavanna, Giver of Fruits.
I've been kind of stuck on Yavanna for a while. Mostly just frustrated with digital coloring than anything else. But I worked through it.
I still don’t know how I feel about the green and brown on her hands and arms, not sure if I totally love it. But I’m happy with the rest of her.

Does the walker choose the path...or the path the walker.
Lirael and the Disreputable Dog. I just finished reading Clariel not too long ago and have since then been rereading the rest of the series.
Just a sketch right now, but I'm excited to start coloring this one. I've not drawn a lot of animals so I had a lot of reference for Dog. She looks very wolfish but that's what I was going for.
Vaire, the Weaver.
There wasn't a lot to go off of for Vaire, but I'm really happy with the way she turned out. I liked the idea of her 'storied webs' being weaved from her hair. She's officially the last of the Valier. I'm not sure if I'll finish coloring them all before I start with the boys. We'll see.
Yavanna, giver of fruits.
Again. So when I was getting ready to color Yavanna I just felt like I didn't take Yavanna as far as I could. So I redid her. I like this so much more. I kept the clothing design but changed just about everything else. I'm really excited to color her.
Nessa.
This one was fun to do. I pretty much knew what I wanted to do with her, dancing and deer. I like that she just has this really delighted look on her face. She just looks happy and a little derpy and for some reason I like that.
Nienna.
This is probably my favorite of the Valar so far. I just love the veil. I'm not so sure about the background yet. I was trying to do something similar to Vardas but we'll see.
The texture in the background was made by me and the rain brushes in the circle were made by ObscureLilium.
Now availiable on my redbubble!
Varda, Lady of the stars.
I've finally started to color these. I'm really happy with the way Varda came out. I wanted her to have darker skin and it's a little hard to see here but her skin has these lighter star-like freckles.
I made the texture in the background and the star brushes in the oval came from here.

Este the gentle, healer of hurts and of weariness.
Love this one. I just really wanted her to look restful and gentle and simple. She turned out to be one of the easier ones to finish. Just two more of the Valier to go.
Vana the ever-young, younger sister of Yavanna and wife of Orome.
More flowers yay. I loved doing this one. The flowers were fun to do. The bird gave me some difficulties but I'm really happy with this one. Just three more Valier to go.
Yavanna, Giver of Fruits.
More Valar. I've always really loved Yavanna, particularly her and Aule's relationship .I had a lot of fun and frustration with this one. It was probably the first that took a lot of trail and error. I didn't want any of these designs to get too bogged down or overly complicate and that was more difficult with her, had to really fight the urge to cover her in flowers. But I'm really happy with the way she turned out. She looks so sassy and feisty and that's just what I was going for.
Working on designs for the Valar Yavanna. Had a lot of trouble deciding on the hair and then with the crown. The fourth one was the first hair I tried, partial dreads but I was't loving that. The first three are the hair I decided on. I finally landed on the second design. Finished sketch should be up soon.
Nienna.
More of the Valar. I've always loved Nienna. I had a hard time working out how to portray her, but the lace seemed perfect. I'm a little worried how it'll turn out trying to color her with all that lace, I'm just hoping it won't turn into a hot mess.
Varda, Lady of the Stars.
I've started to work on illustrations of all the Valar. I started with Varda here, not totally sure why as she's never been a particular favorite but I've always liked the idea of her visually. So happy with how this turned out, particularly the hands. I'm really excited to color her and get her finished.
