i feel like anti-trans and just general anti-non-cis beliefs stem from the fact that bigots can no longer clock peoples genders at a glance. for years, the easiest way to oppress someone was by gender. it was the easiest distinguishable trait. for race, you could pass as white or be interracial. for disabilities, some people functioned with more ease and could blend into 'regular society'. but there was very little ways to hide your gender. transgenderism existed back then but it wasn't widespread, nor was it as easy to 'pass', and plus not every woman was transgender. now, with the internet and hormone therapy and surgery and also just clothing styles being less gender divided, bigots can't tell what's what. and it scares them. the identifier that used to work so often is now obsolete. people dont give a fart about gender roles anymore, so how can they oppress people with them? i barely hear people hate on ftm, its alwayysss about mtf. i think its also interesting how these people are usually so adamant on 'not all men' being predators but they also thing a man transitioning means they're trying to harm women and not for their own personal sense of self and gender expression.
