SANS was astonished, his cold and stony resolve falling away to a look of pure horror as the blade was turned in and on the wielder. He was hardly able to utter a cry as it plunged deep into the belly of the human, not even a single bit of hesitance in their tiny fingers. He watched with eye sockets the size of saucers as they fell to their knees, rivers of red running down their face and onto the marble floors, there was so much red. It pooled and dripped, flooding as if it believed it still had veins to pump through. Never had he seen so much blood in his life. And coming from a child…
“*FRISK—!” He found himself moving on his own. Defenses fell away as he sprinted towards the fallen latter, dropping straight to his knees before them. He didn’t care about the blood and how it had begun to soil his shorts and slippers, trembling hands reached forward, stopping short of holding the human’s tear soaked face. Why? Why was this happening? Never in his time of living would he had expected this, for the one that had brought him so much pain and suffering, and yet so much joy and heartfelt memories—he just didn’t understand why. Why now? Perhaps the weight of their sins, like the world on the shoulder blades of a weak god, maybe it finally broke them down. Maybe this was an action of guilt, an apology that is spoken louder than even the most genuine “sorry”. A sorry for becoming a killer. A sorry for becoming a monster.
But that wasn’t a monster. That was Frisk. That was his kid…
Tears like dew drops fell from his blanched cheeks, his voice caught and raw in his throat as sob after sob shook his body. Gently, he took Frisk’s face in his hands. Their skin was soft, wet and sticky with their own blood.
This isn’t how things were supposed to end. It wasn’t supposed to be them.
It was supposed to be him.
[❤] maybe it was their determination kicking in, but for the moment they were holding on, they gave a smile and a laugh that was gargled from the blood, they couldn’t speak, they tried to move their head to look towards their bag, a journal laying outside of it. everything he needed to know was in there, they wrote everything down.
how much they missed their family, how sorry they were that it was happening, how they didn’t have the willpower to fight back, how they wanted to die..over, and over again. It had dreams, and stories, and things that they didn’t want anyone to see, until now. they just had to hope he could understand it, they knew their writing had gone from normal to complete insanity inside the book, the last pages full of nothing but the word ‘no’ until the very last page
the page written right before entering this room, the page that mattered the most. the page that had ink stains that ran from tears, but was written so slowly, so clearly as if that was the last time their mind had been clear and it was.
