Lilo stood staring at the girl for a moment before tilting her head to the side. “You send your spit to a bunch of strangers?” Lilo’s eyes went wide before a smile quickly appeared on her face. “Cool. What do they do with the spit when they’re done with it?” She wondered out loud, not paying much attention to the rest of the girls words at all. “Speed dating has always seemed dumb to me. No offense. I just don’t get it.” Lilo shrugged. “But it might help if you didn’t talk about your weird family drama right from the get go.”

“Spit, hair, nail clippings — y’know, your DNA and shit. I don’t know how it works exactly, but somehow they can like, link you to relatives that you didn’t even know you had. We found out Nuka’s like, more neanderthal than the rest of us, which is just hilarious.” Vitani rolled her shoulders, eyes running over the stranger whom stood with legs about as long as her own, not caring to acknowledge a few glares of judgement that seemed to dislike the conversation the two short freshmen decided to engage in, in the middle of their love search. “Oh yeah, I hear what you’re saying, but my question is; when is the right time to drop a bomb like that? During sex, maybe?”

  he sat there in silence, letting the female rant about her family ( ? ) ; he didn’t really know how it felt to have such a … difficult family. truth be told, his family was very different that hers and he wondered how they could possibly become friends or at least, handle one another. scratching the back of his neck, his lips pressed together and eyebrows pushed together, he turns to look at her   ‘ that’s um .. tough. I’m sorry to hear such… ’   he really didn’t know how to react and he HOPES she didn’t take his words in a wrong way.   ‘ uhm.. well, people tell me I eat things that aren’t edible .. I’m not speed-dating material either, you could say, yea ? ’  he tries to say something about himself, in the hopes to lighten the girls vibe.

“Well, I guess I’m sorry for makin’ you have to hear it then, huh?” The young Lavon girl wanted to grumble some more, even fancied the idea of causing a scene on the night so many were hoping to score big or were expecting to go home empty handed, but in the midst of it all she found herself --- amused, to say the very least, by this new person whom sat opposite. “You... eat things that aren’t edible? Either you’re a freak or you have a serious problem.” She laughed, leaning into her palm. “What kind of things are we talking about?”

“You may have been laying it on just a little thick,” Mulan mimed, her thumb and pointer coming together until only a little bit of space was left between them. “This spot isn’t taken right?” She’d come to the bar, dressed differently than usual, appearing in a nice dress with some leggings underneath. She’d been feeling rather feminine lately, and figured one day back as Mulan wouldn’t hurt anyone.

"No kidding.” She huffed, unsure if she were truly invested in the little dating experiment, or even disappointed that her family talk had chased off a few potential bones --- after all, what else did she expect when she’d decided to share such an unconventional tale? “You’re a little over dressed, aren’t you. Bar’s not your usual hang out?” Nudging the empty chair outwards instead of simply answering the query, Vitani expected the older skirt to sit.

Instantly Tarzan regretted everything he did. His first bar and he already offended the first person he’d met. “No, that wasn’t what I was…” He said feeling his body tense. Somehow this girl held a look more frightening than a crocodile. Those he could fight without any problem. “I was just saying… if you were doing a speed date. I would think the idea s not to… Never mind.” He said looking at his hands hoping he wouldn’t ruin his night so short. “I don’t have any room to judge anyway.”

Again she was forced to blink in slow motion, attitude barely understanding what this boy beside her was trying to prove. Couldn’t he have just apologized? Whether he’d mean it or not, Vitani would rather take a poor ‘sorry’ than a jumbled excuse. “Alright, let’s pretend you’re like the most special dude, or person, in the world, who doesn’t judge anybody ever. Mhmm, mhmm --- how’s that work’n out for ya?”

he liked her boldness, a trait he always found comforting with his company. the sudden push for something more whether or not it was needed but hey, it always sparked the interesting conversation here and there.  «  yeah, i can related to that.  »  his chuckles were drowned by the next sip he took, deciding to go slower with his intake to savour both the taste and his conversation. he slid into the chair she offered, however, the blush found its way back stronger against high cheek bones as he rubbed the back of his neck, choosing to avert her gaze.  «  i guess so, i  don’t really go out of my way to do all that stuff though…  »  as lame as he could have possibly sounded, his own interest sparked at her question, features suddenly lighting at the opportunity to talk about his own tale.  «  not the easiest, but definitely not the hardest.  i was pretty much kidnapped as a kid, but my adopted parents found me and took me in. when i was in high school, i got pretty popular and got my name on the news. my real parents managed to find me and that’s pretty much it.  »

The girl choked on her non-alcoholic beverage about as quickly as the male began to answer her question and while it was all fun and games to make fun of familial situations from time to time, his reply almost made her wish she held a good glass full of straight vodka. “So what I’m hearing right now is that --- your more that kid than I am.” With the thought, her features now darkened, seemingly swapping roles with the male. “You can’t just end the story like that, holy shit! So, like, do you know your real parents now? A family get together with them and your adoptives must be pretty awkward. They must be pretty gutted knowing you replaced them, huh?”

All Tarzan wanted to do was be normal and since he’d yet experienced the ‘bar scene’ he figured there was no better time than the present. He walked into the bar and found himself only picking a busy night full of singles doing some strange dating thing that the boy had no need for. He did however find a lucky space open and took it before quickly realizing why the seat at the bar had been open in the first place. The girl next to it seemed to be giving away a very sad story about her life. Tarzan gave her a look. “I don’t think those are topics that attract people…no.” He said. Even he knew that. “But… at lleast you have a colorful past I guess.”

In the most dramatic way possible, Vitani shut her eyes very slowly, rolling them backwards out of disbelief. During this act, she picked up the drink once more, many ideas on what to do with it to chase people off even further, while shifting her body to face the boy whom thought it’d be a good idea to join her. Whether or not he was a part of this little social experiment didn’t matter to her. “Excuse me?” She questioned aggressively, almost sounding like her mother, as green eyes shot open. “Oh my god! Who are you to just come here and judge me? I didn’t ask for your opinion, did I?”

obviously he hadn’t meant to eavesdrop on the entire thing, but it was rather hard to ignore the whimsical family tree being described right next to him. an amused smirk almost found its way to his lips, curling against his glass as warm amber liquid burned down his throat.  «  not the best but hey, you sure do have an interesting life.  »  he chuckled at being spoken to, not realising the social norms he was breaking by outwardly admitting to having listened to the conversation. though the blush turned rose against his cheek, if she asked, he’d blame it on the scotch. hercules cleared his throat and sat the glass back down on the countertop, playing his palm firmly along the surface.  «  i mean      — —      i’m sure you’re not that bad at speed-dating. you definitely took speed to a new level there, huh?  »  again, not the greatest choice of words he could have ever picked and he stood there, letting himself imagine the huge hand ready to slap against his forehead.

“Oh sure, the life of the great Vitani Lavon is about as interesting as interesting gets.” She chuckled, a flat expression falling upon her features. In a way, she doubted her life could have ever been boring, what with the crowd her troubled little family had been known to run with, but there definitely could have been more to it, even if it did sound interesting. “I suppose you don’t really know what it’s like to be that kid with that family until it just hits you in the face one day.” Lifting her drink from the table, allowing it to rest in its destined spot against her thumb, the girl waved it in a motion showing off the empty chair that was now being avoided by every patron in the bar, inviting the blushing large male to join her. “Well, when you’re looking for a hook-up, I think it’s very important the person you’re gonna sleep with knows everything there is to you --- so what about you, guy, what’s your family like?”

Kovu and I did that ancestry DNA thing, where you send your spit to a bunch of strangers to learn all about even the smallest parts of your identity, and as it turns out --- which literally comes as no surprise to me --- we don’t even have genes from all of the same places. So yeah, my brothers and I all have different loser dads, our mom is terrifying and our kind of, sort of adoptive daddy was no better.” Pulling a glass of lemon & bitters from her lips, clinking the ice against the sides , the girl shrugged, turning her gaze to the stranger that stood looking down on her, while the man whom she’d been speaking with left a chair opposite, baron. “Guess I’m not speed-dating material, huh?”

biography:

Vitani Lavon grew up in a very unhappy and bitter household as the only daughter mama ever birthed. While she and her two brothers shared a single father figure and “idol”, they did not share a father, nor did they know the men that helped create them, due to mothers strong personality and her on-again, off-again relationship with the father figure whom might as well have been nonexistent, given his lack of interest in the children. For Vitani, it was always Zira, Nuka and Kovu. They were the constants no matter how unhappy and toxic their home was.

Despite getting along with her siblings (more so with golden boy Kovu whom is only months younger, than eldest Nuka) and being most obedient to their mothers command, Vitani willingly and comfortably sat in the shadows of her relatives, always in the back and off to the side of family photos. She didn’t feel like she needed much attention growing up. Nuka craved it, and Kovu received it — but Vitani was always content with being a supporter and a follower (not that she didn’t push and boss Nuka around enough to stand third most prominent in their household) and never really complained much when her wants and worries went unnoticed, even though her pride stood as strong as the rest of the Lavon’s.

College never seemed like an option before Avenir. Zira was in charge of her children’s futures and had promptly decided that neither Vitani or Kovu would go to school after getting their high school diplomas, as Nuka, seemed to only waste time and money going to community college. Vitani was to work alongside her mother in a very shady nightclub to perhaps follow in her footsteps bit by bit, while Kovu was highly expected to settle under their father figures wing, doing whatever it was their “idol” did during the daytime — but Avenir representatives thought themselves to have much more authority in what all three Lavon’s should be doing. In the prime of their final year of high school, the girl and the baby Lavon both received fully paid scholarships to the mysterious private school in Monaco. Zira initially refused to allow her cubs to run so far away, but the University continued to “sweeten the deal” and persisted that they catch a plane. Nuka was offered a transfer through his junior, the “idol” left the troubled family and promises of a better future — a future on top, eventually convinced the alpha woman to change her mind.

Rather excited to get away from home and an ugly future that had been planned, Vitani is uncharacteristically optimistic about the change of atmosphere. She’s hoping people wont flinch and pity the Lavon name in this new land, and more so, is looking forward to breaking out of her dutiful daughter, good sister, image.
