You have to go to the bottom of page 5 in the iron lung tag before you get to a fic that isn’t PHM, and from there, it’s not until page 9 that you get another one. Obviously ao3 has inbuilt filters to exclude crossovers but still…it’s a lot.

By contrast, while the top 2 fics for PHM are iron lung crossovers, there are only 4 bloodymary fics in total on page one for the film. Iron Lung was an absolute triumph of indie filmmaking, and it sucks to see the spaces created to discuss it be so completely subsumed by the fanbase of a mainstream Hollywood production.

Again! I don’t have a problem with people having fun with the exciting new crossover/yaoi of the week. However, it’s objectively true that bloodmary has become its own fanbase separate from & outgrowing the discussion around both original films. Many bloodymary fans are consuming/creating content about the ship without having watched either Iron Lung or PHM at all.

Anyway…all this to come back to the original point of the thread: #just blood is an an active and functional non-crossover tag for Iron Lung discussion! Please use it <3

Additionally, I think it’s important to remember that Iron Lung was a fairly successful indie game before it got a film, and if discussion of the movie is buried, the game is just fucking gone.

Iron Lung fans!! Let’s not be hypocrites and remember to keep using the #iron lung movie and #iron lung 2026 tags from the early days, so fans of the game have something to filter out :)
